    bypass vs. banding???

"I had a sucessful bander tell me that at least when the bypass people stomach streches back out we(banded) can have our's tightened!" Of course you can stretch out your pouch and gain weight also, and lets face it, there is a limit to what the band can do, because you can only restrict so much and then your done.....you can't just keep adding restriction forever. I like the sleeve idea the most....it gives you the small stomach affect of having the band, but without all of the restriction problems and aftercare. I personally believe the sleeve is the future. I had the band because it was the only real option for me. I could do better with less likelyhood of problems down the road with a sleeve.
  2. Ahhhh, but more therapy means more money for that therapist. Follow the money trail and it will answer most questions in life.
  3. Well it sounds like your not really happy with him now. Once you lose the weight, you are going to attract more men, and eventually your going to find greener grass. Don't kid yourself, this is how he feels, and he is probably right. A strong marriage could have problems when someone changes drastically, a weak one is definitely going to have problems.

Baby-faced boy is father at 13

"what are things coming to these days" It really isn't all that surprising to me. Heck, it has really only been the last 200 years that a girl didn't get married by 15. I'm not saying that's a good thing, just that in all of the history of humans, it has been a only recent development that people don't have sex until they are a little older. I think far more children are having sex then people want to believe....you just know for sure, when a baby pops out.

How much does the band itself cost

I was told this is possible. But, frankly the insurance company decides how much of the procedure is for the band versus the other, and after prorating everything it would have cost me more. Why? Because the cash pay route for the lapband procedure using cash was cheaper then using insurance. Using insurance made the same exact procedure cost more, therefore the part the insurance company would pay was eaten up by the cost difference of cash pay versus insurance. This is why many places advertise a "cash price"....it isn't the same as what they charge the insurance company. This may not be true for all places that perform the lapbands, but it was in my case?
  6. I answer with the truth. Yes, I can, no it probably isn't the best choice, but in the end it is really about calories in and calories out and eating enough of the right things to stay healthy. I also tell them, this band is for life...."do you really think I won't ever eat anything just because it tastes good for the rest of my life?" I'm eating the way I will eat for the rest of my life, not just for awhile to lose weight and then gain it back.

8 cc in 9 cc Realize Band

Well if my saying I was wrong and apologizing isn't good enough, then you need to get a life. Please explain how your post is helpful?
  8. It may be simple, it may be a slipped band....no one really knows without looking. I personally wouldn't let someone who doesn't know lapbands look at it. I think they tend to make mistakes, and may think they need to remove it, when it really isn't a problem.
  9. You need to have your band checked by a professional experienced with lapbands. Hopefully first thing in the morning....don't let yourself get overly deydrated waiting. If I had to I would get an IV to get fluids back in me from an emergency room and that way you can see someone tomorrow. It may be as simple as something has caused you to get tight... Are you under a lot of stress recently? Illness? They will probably want to do a fluoro to see that everything is ok, and obviously your going to need some kind of unfill, how much depends on what they see.
  10. I don't think its a good idea....so please, if you do decide to do it, make a video and put it on youtube!!!!!!!! I can't even imagine doing it without fluoro personally.
  11. Well, I already feel about the same as I did before the fill. Don't get me wrong, I had some restriction before the fill, and adding 1cc made me not able to swallow water during the fill....so we took out .5cc. But, now two days later, I feel back to completely like I did before the fill. Not totally, without restriction, but I'm thinking I'm not at my sweet spot yet. Of course, I personally believe the sweet spot moves with weight loss anyway. I'm limiting my intake to one cup of food at at time and I'm back on regular food tomorrow, so we will know more then. I'm at 222 right now. My original goal was 145, but after telling people I want to get down to 145 and seeing the reaction, I'm thinking maybe I should just shoot for 160. Everyone is definitely against seeing me down to 145?? I'm 5'9", so this would be in the low normal range....I guess time and effort will decide it partially. I was cleared to start swimming again, which I already started and love. I may be fat but I can swim like the wind blows. I swim a 600 in the same time that is expected of an 18 year old certifying for being a lifeguard, so I love it. Just think how fast a slimmer me will be in the future.

    Need major help 911!!!

My guess, is that your body has sensed the loss of weight and the low calories and is intentionally holding on to as much as it possibly can. Try adjusting your calories up 10-30% and check your percentages of protein versus complex carbs. If you are working out a lot and not getting enough complex carbs your body will do this.

I believe I can do more

I have to agree, the reset tickers don't tell the whole story. But, I do understand why some people do reset them. I have long noticed that thin people think of weight gain in terms of 1-10lbs, while us heavier people think of weight gain in terms of 10lb increments. It is kind of a state of mind thing to me.

    Did you have to ask?

I think you should first try financing it yourself. If that isn't possible, then maybe financing with the other person co-signing. But asking family for money is pretty much a recipe for disaster.
  16. My information packet listed Water intake as being important for the normal regulation of body temperature. Try drinking more water??? It may help?

    Have you noticed?

 PB....productive burp. When you are banded, sometimes food gets stuck, and doesn't want to move through. You are suppose to get up and walk around and let it try to work itself out. But, a lot of times, you just can't, so you have a contraction that isn't puking, and it isn't really burping either, that makes the food in your pouch come back up and out. It think people refer to the burp, because it is similar in that you are kind of forcing it to happen. I think PB's as more like what you would do if you were choking on something to get it out, but you don't have the feeling of choking, just the feeling that food won't go down. Some common reasons for PB's, are Band too tight Not chewing your food enough for the constriction level you are at Taking too big of bites Being dehydrated prior to eating Eating foods that like to reform into a bigger mass after being swallowed (starchy items)
  19. My PC doctor wanted me to get the GB sugery instead of Lapband. So we kind of argued? He just felt it was more successful and easier for most people. Well, he agreed with me on the reasons for my choice and recommended me. He seems very relieved and happy with my progress since the surgery.

    My first fill is over!!!

Well, I found out today what a fill is like. Not bad at all. I also found out that my 10cc band had 2.8cc in it from surgery day. I really wanted another 1cc, even though the fill person, looking at my barium swallow, thought I should have more like .5cc. After putting it in, I was too tight, so she took .5cc back out, and I'm pretty much perfect now. I feel really sorry for those who don't have a fill to start from the surgeon. Heck, I think I'm already to my sweet spot for my current weight!!! I was really worried about my weight loss, but the scale showed 10lbs since my visit 3 weeks ago, so I'm doing just right. I feel so sorry for those who struggle for months on end to get to this point. I have heard the realize band takes much longer to get to this spot....so I'm super glad I picked the APlapband.

8 cc in 9 cc Realize Band

I agree. And I am sorry if it sounded like I was lecturing, I really wasn't trying to do that at all. I was trying to suggest that something needed to be done differently or that they may have a problem. Or that they didn't really understand how the band works and how it can be defeated. I did come up with many opinions from the post that may or may not be true.
  23. I have kind of changed my mind. Someone who is extremely experienced seems to think that having very little restriction and not losing much after 10 months is a normal thing with the realize band. If that is true and I have no reason to believe it is not, then, I would want the Lapband period.

Some people believe that you can't say anything you have learned unless you have experienced it yourself. This is probably the silliest of notions on this planet.

Read your post again. It is not simply asking the question you wanted. But I understand what your saying, it isn't what you really wanted to know. And for that I am sorry. I just don't agree with someone not having restriction after 10 months. It's not that I don't believe you, its why I think you need to find someone else. And yes I'm new, thats why I only talk about what I have been told and what I have read here, doesn't make it true, so take it or leave it. My post may come off as attacking you, but that is not my intent, so again, I apologize. You don't and can't know my intent, so why don't you just lay off with the whole "your not welcome here thing". It smells.
