  1. I used to drink about 40 ounces of Water with each meal. I really don't miss it at all after a couple of weeks. I do need at least 8 ounces of water 15 minutes prior to eating or things just don't go down right.
  2. What I have noticed is that people will spend tons of time responded if they can argue about something, but a post about an easy way to share what we are eating is ignored. I think it is the nature of man to want to fight with each other rather then work with each other.

Do I even want to know what a sex educator does? Well yea, I got to know now.
  5. Here is an example of what my diary looks like. OK, that didn't work but if you have a log in this should work. http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/diary/who/JaffaSteve/ I just inserted the link while I was viewing my food diary. If everyone does it this way, we can make this a really good thread to see what others are eating, but you do have to open your diary to the public for others to see it.
  6. I thought it would be nice if anyone who is logging their food on dailyplate.com, could make their food log public. You just go to My Food Diary instead of My Plate. The selection is about 1/3 of the way down on the page. Then look for the "open to public" option. Then just post your username here and we can just look at what we are eating and get ideas from each other. Just like WW, in that we are logging our food and sharing what we are doing? I have done mine already and it is under JaffaSteve http://www.livestrong.com/thedailyplate/diary/who/JaffaSteve/
  7. To see what I have been eating....just log in and then find my username profile....about halfway down you can see my food diary. It the person hasn't opened the profile to the public like I said above it won't show anything.
  8. If desired we could even start a Lapbandtalk group on the dailyplate? But I would want Alex to do that since it would be using the Lapbandtalk name.

How mant G of Carbs to aim for?

If you want a frozen meal and your looking low carb, how about the South Beach Diet meals? Just a suggestion. I like to stay below 100g a day of carbs, but routinely end up at 50-75 Try using dietplate.com and it will help you figure out what the content of real food is when you don't have a label to help you.
  10. I think chasing a 2 year old counts as some exercise!!!

    bodybugg food logging versus Dailyplate.com

Well, the bodybugg program made me realize the value of food logging, but the program itself and specifically the search feature was driving me a little crazy. That and it drove me a little crazy that it was fairly rigid on inputs and wouldn't let you go forward or backward to input food. I decided to try the free version of dailyplate.com. Not only is it much better at both things I didn't like about the bodybugg food logger, but it is also much more user friendly. Man I am just flying through my logging now. I am defintely going to use it to log my food intake, and just use the bodybugg for calculating calorie burn. I seem to still be bouncing on my weight loss, but I'm sensing that I have broken through the plateau and I'm going to start losing again. On a side note, my band did start out with a certain amount of restriction right after the fill, got loser by day 3 and then on about day 10 it got a little tighter again. I have heard this is common, but really didn't believe it until I experience it. My next fill should get me pretty close to the sweet spot. I can feel success coming right around the corner. Also, the more I exercise the more water weight I tend to retain??? I always thought it was just the opposite? I have been doing my swimming on one day and walking the next and then back to swimming. Also, I started going to the dry sauna after swimming to get my body temperature back up before going home. I have no idea why, but it really helps with my restriction at night. It could be that it gets some of the water out of my system, or it could just be a temperature thing? I have been drinking 50 ounces of my water in the day and just 20 ounces at night. This again seems to help my restriction at night and means less waking up to go pee at night.

    Would you do it again?

I agree, especially for self-pay people. For Insurance people, they probably don't have this option, just depends.
  14. You could look at the positive nature of this problem. Since you are going to be self-pay anyway, you could go straight for the gastric sleeve. In reality, if the gastric sleeve was paid for by insurance companies like the band, the gastic sleeve would probably be more popular and more frequent. Your asking the right questions....and my response is because you are asking about future complications and costs. With the sleeve they are mostly covered from the beginning, as that is when complications happen with the sleeve. With the band the dirty secret is that complications and problems will almost always result after they are covered by the surgeon, and if your self pay, then you will have to pay from it. The only exception to that rule is if it is an emergency like a slipped band causing you to not get any Water....but then they usually just take it out, and now your screwed all over again.

Losing the Battle of right and wrong!!!

I run about a 1000 calorie defecit per day, and haven't lost anything in one month. I have had a lot of sugar free chocolate cravings, but I account for the calories. I am getting frustrated....a month of doing everything right and averaging 1200 calories a day, and no net weight loss!!!!!!!
  16. Your risking everything. But you know your body better then anyone. Will it loosen back up soon? Or will it only loosen back up when you have starved and lost weight. If it is the latter, I just don't think it is worth the risk. But, .2cc after being just fine, might be mostly swelling? It just depends on how your body reacts. Heck I can have a fill right now and be perfect, then a week later the swelling goes down, and I'm practically back to normal. I will say that it is getting better with each fill and I can tell I will eventually get to where the filll will last a lot longer.

Female Invasion of the Mens Room

Of course he is in his 50's, maybe he needs a little something to kick his sex drive into action? I don't know if they even make such a thing. I know the older I get the less and less important sex is to me, but the more and more important my wife is to me. I love her every year more then I did the last. I think its time to get some counseling or move on. If he hasn't checked out, he will get the counseling just because you want the counseling.

    Flying and the band

Just make sure you stay hydrated. Altitude changes in reality do very little to change the band, not nearly as much as hydration levels can change things. It is much easier to become less hydrated at higher altitudes because the air is drier, and your body literally has the moisture almost sucked out of it. I fly almost everyday.

    Weight Watchers?

I'm confused by WW. In the end, isn't it really just counting calories? I mean yes you can have more calories if it has a lot of fiber, and less if it is mostly fat, but how is that really different then what we are suppose to eat? I thought we were suppose to be watching our calorie content even after the band?
  20. I am also one of those people who in the morning have good restriction, but at night, can still eat way too much. I'm really watching my calories close now, but still no scale movement. Heck I'm now going on one month with little or no weight loss, but my clothes are definitely looser?

    Vomiting!!! Post surgery!

You may have given yourself a little food poisening. Usually, vomitting that is that bad and only lasts 24 hours is something you ate....it may have had nothing to do with your band.

That is a most excellant idea, thanks

    three-week plateau

I have been sitting in the same 2-3lb range for awhile now. I have the same exact problem. If only the band was tight at night and lose in the morning. I plan to keep getting filled until it takes warm liquid in the morning to eat. I think that is pretty much what it is going to take in order to control me at night. I'm also thinking about going to a liquid Protein drink for supper, just to control myself.

Really stuck for the first time-left over meat

Well, I was eating left over salmon the other day, and for some reason, it got stuck. I think it being left over it is just too dry? Well normally, stuck isn't all that bad, but this time it was horrible. I had to wait a couple of hours and it actually, pysically hurt. Then finally it started to subside, and the went away. Afterward, I could just barely sip warm water until everything started to go back to normal. I was getting really worried that I would have to go to the hospital when it didn't clear right away. It was late friday and my local fill doctor was already gone. I will never eat left over meat like that again. I went back on liquids until the swelling from the barfing went down. Its been about 30 hours and I can tell I'm pretty much back the way I was and am ready to eat normal again.
