January bandsters our time is coming!!!

Day 8 of the liquid diet...so far so good and depending on what scales I weigh in on I have lost 10-15# just doing this diet for 8 full days. Feel great although if I don't bring enough "free foods" with me to work I am a little light headed after8-9 hours work. Went to the grocery last night for my post-op foods and as not even tempted to buy junk...amazing how quickly you can re-think thigs. Surgery is in 24 hours...exactly. 9am 1/15/09. I am so excited to continue this journey and so thankful I found this website so i have the support of my "sisters in arms". Love you all...

Will be having my banding 1/15...Cannot wait. Go for my psych eval today (due to the holidays I decided to do this part last). Done with pre anesthesia-pre op tests...on the pre-op diet and have already lost 5 pounds in the last 2 days!! And really not feeling bad at all...and I am suprised!

    psoriasis??

I take mine in the thighs so I will talk to her...maybe she thought I was taking it in the abdomen. Thanks for the info kerimezz77!! And kudos on the weight loss!! It is very nice to talk to so many people with the same skin and joint problems as I... and as for nymoosic, how great to think of remission from the PA. I have had it ten years and have only been close to remission about 3 years ago when I first took Enbrel. I am praying that I will see some improvement with the weight loss!!

    psoriasis??

I will have to stop my Enbrel on the 1st until post-op. My doc says she recommends that...so I am in a terrible flare on my arms and legs and shoulder blades right now with the holidays, the pre-op things I am trying to get done just in case they move my date up to the 15th...oh and the weather has been hot to cold to warm to cold to RAIN , so I will REALLY be bad by the time I have the surgery...luckily Psoriasis won't prevent the surgery. :tongue2:

Scheduled for banding 1/29 but may be moved up to 1/15 if there is an opening (they are thinking one person is going to back out)...I can't wait.
  9. Hello all. just joined today...glad to find a support group to learn from. I am 5 foot tall and weigh 230#. I have never been so large, even when I was pregnant with both kids. I am miserable, and am hoping this surgery will assist me in the healthy changes I need to make. Hope it helps me get off the pills for my blood pressure, my blood sugar and hope it decreases the trauma to my joints, etc...also quitting smoking this week, so I have a little over a month to get that craving out of my system before surgery. My husband of 20 years and I have been separated since late August, but that is an entirely different matter altogether. I want to start 2009 on a clean slate. :smile2: Pray for me...and please feel free to post back to me. I will need the encouragement!:thumbup:
  10. Good luck!! And Merry Christmas!!

    psoriasis??

I agreee and that is what I am saying too. Is it the weight loss or the healthier diet and lifestyle. And congrats on your weight loss!!! I am so eating at Christmas bacause I am doing the liver shrinking diet for 3 weeks prior to surgery to help detox from all the meds, etc...

    psoriasis??

hey all. I too suffer from moderate to severe psoriasis...over 50 % of my body and have psoriatic arthritis. I am on Enbrel... two 50 ml injections a week and will probably need a topical ointment of some type post operation. I use Triamcinolone Ointment when I have to which is too messy. I am scheduled for banding on Jan. 29th. When I talked to my dermatologist at Vanderbilt the other day about the surgery she said that banding should HELP the psoriasis/pa in the long run with the better diet and the weight loss. I will have to be off the Enbrel 2 weeks prior and 2-3 weeks post-op so I am sure I will get worse then...but should rebound back better than ever!! I know the weight loss will not be a cure because slim, healthy people also suffer from psoriasis but hey, anything better is a plus!! I am just wondering if anyone in this site has improved post op? I will keep optimistic since at least the excess weight will be gone to I can exercise! Plus I am quitting smoking as well...on the Nicolrete gum through Cooper Clayton Method and down to 4 smokes at night and 2 in AM and NONE at work...down from a pack a day. woooohooo!! Looking forward to a new me in 2009!! Teresa "I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me." Phillipians 4:13.

  16. LOL, I understand that too...I have a mediport and also been giving my self sub q injections for 5 yrs now...so I think the Huber needle accessing the port bothers me more than anything even after all this time. Good luck to you on your banding...Teresa
  17. well, I work at a hospital so lost "squeemish" many years ago, lol...They just started doing the LB here in June. Two of my co workers are were the first to get banded here in July. Both have lost about 60 pounds in 5 1/2 months. So, I do have a couple of friends that I can bounce things off. Teresa
