  1. Hi! so how is it going? Did you get banded yet? Things have gone good. I have lost 50 pounds since February. I definitely have fallen off the wagon and im slowly getting back to how I should be. Food as always been my vice. My recovery time wasent too bad. It was pretty painful at first but after about 2 weeks I was back to normal.

  2. I just saw your message...sorry it took me so long....i still feel new to all of this. The banding went well. I got my frist fill this past Friday. Its been up and down so far but worth it! Have you been banded?

    I'm here to help...

Hi everyone, thanks for your advice. I am on hydrocodone, I take 2 teaspoons every 4 hous and I have been using a ton of gas x strips. The pain is on my left side where my port incision is. It is ok when I am just laying still but feels like someone is stabbing a huge knife into me when ever I move. I do feel a tiny bit better today...whenever I have to use the restroom I go walk around the house...went out front and walked around the yard too. After about 20 minutes of being up, I start to feel very hot and sick and have to go lay down again. I finally, after 2 days, of just water and herbal tea, ate about 1/4 cup of broth and a SF Jell-o which went down great! Took a long time to eat but I had no problems at all. I havent had any solid food since last Sunday and I actually had a dream about food today lol. My issue with the bed today is over, my Mother is here to help me and THANK GOD FOR HER! She helped pull me up and I finally got to use the restroom :sneaky: My bed is very high up and my feet do not touch the floor so I have to completely pull myself up to get out of it. I decided that until I feel better, I am just going to sleep on the couch. I still need her help up for the time being but atleast it is with minimal pain! Thanks again for your messages to me, I was so grumpy and hurt and just wanted to sleep but couldnt this morning and I just knew that you guys would be the ones to understand :mad2:

    February '09 bandsters?

One more day and I will be banded....on my liquid diet right now....starting to get nerveous and excited all in one. I just keep thinking about how I can't wait for the day that I can walk into a normal store and be able to find my size clothing or not think in my head that everyone is staring at me wondering what I am doing in that store. I can't wait until I won't constantly try to avoid mirrors or having my picture taken. I can't wait for the day that I can not be tired from just walking up a flight of steps! I can't wait until I finally like who I am and maybe then, I can let someone else into my life :tongue2:

You are not alone, I am so scared that I am going to fail. I know that I want this so bad though so I have to do it, failing is not an option! The fear is still there though......

Thanks for the shake link :cursing: You are right, most of them can't be done until after but still, there are so many that I got some ideas about what I can do. Thanks again!

Hi Everyone!! I just got a call from my surgeons office and I am getting banded on the 19th!! :cursing: I go in for pre-op on the 3rd. I am so excited and nervous all at the same time. I started my pre-op diet today......I was not impressed with the protein shake. I am definitley going to have to be creative to get those things down!!

    Unbelievable!

I am new to the site, I have been here reading everyones different topics for weeks now but this is my first post. I can't tell you how helpful everyone's discussions have been! From what to expect, to how the band works, to what groceries to buy and even which kind of band to choose, Lap Band or the Realize Band. I have turned to this website for it all! So I wanted to say thank you!! Now, I heard something today that I just had to comment on and I thought that others might want to hear it too. A friend of mine was out eating and overheard a girl talking about her Lap Band surgery. She was saying how it was expensive here in the US so she decided to go to Mexico to have it done. She said that she could not afford to go back to Mexico for the fills and that she could not find anyone here that would do it (which I find hard to believe). She decided to go to the store and purchase saline and needles and perform the fills herself. The girl ended up being 95 pounds and I am quite sure malnutritioned! To me, that seems like a VERY dumb thing to do! You take the time to go to Mexico, pay the money to have this life changing thing happen to you then you just fall apart. I feel sad for this girl. I understand now why we have to have psych exams pre surgery. It's a shame this girls doctor didn't know to help her.

    There were 42 staples

why did you have to have 42 staples? I thought that they used glue and also, that scar looks pretty big...did they have to stick their hand in you?
