Does anyone eat fruit in this forum???
Stephanka917 replied to soocalchic's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have not found a fruit that doesn't make me pb- even if I chew it like a crazy lady! Mango- my favorite- is the worst! I should try to make some smoothies, I suppose! -
Curious...what side is your port on?
Stephanka917 replied to Rutiglius's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm on the right, by request. I sleep on my left, and I heard you can feel it. My surgeon thought I was nuts! LOL -
I PB alot, but I am always hungry????
Stephanka917 replied to BellaPerdente's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was having this problem and you would think you need an unfill, but the opposite is true. With the band a little tighter, the hole for food to get stuck will be smaller and food will have an easier time sitting above the band in your pouch, rather than slipping into the hole and getting stuck. Does that make sense? I had a fill and now I'm doing great! Good luck!!! -
My Surgeon told me not to eat breakfast if I'm not hungry- so I don't! My band stays nice and snug all day  I finally got good restriction and the weight is starting to drop off! YAY!!!! Good-bye Bandster Hell!

Having Problems with Chicken help!!
Stephanka917 replied to trishb13's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have trouble with breaded chicken and the boneless skinless- so I don't eat the breaded anymore, and I brown the chicken breasts in my big ol' teflon pan and then put 2-3 cups of water and a bunch of Mrs. Dash in the pan.. cover and cook on low for an hour and THEN I can easily eat it! The crock pot would be the same deal.. Has to be super moist! I have a terrible time with ground beef, though. Hurts every time! We're all different! -

Any Advice on Getting "Unstuck" Quickly?
Stephanka917 replied to Holabbie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Tiny, and I mean tiny! Sips of hot water seem to help. Good luck! Getting stuck really hurts me and I took a big gulp of water the first time it happened, and the pain became twice as bad. -
Am I right to be angry and frustrated?
Stephanka917 replied to A New Woman's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on 12/30/08, have had 2 fills and still very little restriction. My surgeon says it can take up to 6 fills to hit the "Sweet Spot" that I am longing for! I just take it one day at a time.. I get my third fill this week and I sure hope it doesn't take 6 fills to get restriction! But if it does, it does. We are all individuals, so it takes more or less for everyone! Good luck to all! -
No restriction- super frustrated!!! HELP!
Stephanka917 posted a topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded December 30th and I have lost 40 lbs- gained back 4, lost 3... I have very little restriction after 2 fills and my doc puts the band in empty. I am hungry all the time, just like I was never banded. My first fill was 4cc's and my next one was only 1 cc! My doc just does 1 cc at a time and says it can take 6 months to get any restriction! I wish someone had told me that before the surgery- I probably would have chosen gastric bypass! Anyone who has been through this and has encouraging words, please help! I'm so frustrated!!!! -
Yeah! What is up with the sugar cravings??? I have never been a sweet eater- I like salty, greasy stuff like chips and fries! Now I want candy, cookies, ice cream... you name it! What's up with that??? I was banded December 30th and I have lost 40 lbs- gained back 4, lost 3... I have very little restriction after 2 fills and my doc puts the band in empty. I am hungry all the time, just like I was never banded. My first fill was 4cc's and my next one was only 1 cc! My doc just does 1 cc at a time and says it can take 6 months to get any restriction! I wish someone had told me that before the surgery- I probably would have chosen gastric bypass! Anyone who has been through this and has encouraging words, please help! I'm so frustrated!!!! Lately, I've had this God awful sweet tooth. I could have like a burito for the entire day and the rest SUGAR: Chocolate, cookies, etc. I have to admit that I have satisfied my sweet tooth on occasion, but I'm not sure where it came from. Has anyone else had this problem?

6 wks post-op had first fill, question about water
Stephanka917 replied to wintobethin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
LOL! I thought I was the only one who could hear that, since I've never seen a post that mentions it! Yes, sometimes I can hear my upper pouch draining into my stomach. Sounds a little like a sink draining! -
6 wks post-op had first fill, question about water
Stephanka917 replied to wintobethin's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yeah, my doc had me drink some water after the fill, too. I have never heard of having you drink water, then to remove saline until it "drains." I had my first fill a few weeks back and got 4 cc's... I feel like I can take a little more! -
Hi there, I had my first fill a few weeks ago. I had no numbing agents- and I did not feel it one bit. My doc had me do a sort of 1/2 sit up and he found my port, popped the needle in and all done! Don't be scared!

I love my Wii Fit! Looking for fellow users. My favorite is the step class with all the other Miis- My boyfriend made a Chuck Norris Mii and he was working out with me yesterday! It really keeps me going- I can't say enough good things about my Wii Fit! It even calculates my BMI and tracks my weight. I will be banded on Dec. 30th, BTW. Good luck to all! ~Stephanka917:thumbup:

Will I need someone to take care of me after surgery?

My hospital would not release me without a driver. You may need to check into that! Good luck! -
Why WLS? Your personal top 10 list
Stephanka917 replied to mlafentres's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
1) To set a better example for my daughter. 2) To not live in constant pain anymore. 3) To live a long, healthy life. 4) To keep up with my boyfriend, who is 13 years younger than me! 5) To wear all the funky styles I love. 6) To enjoy exercising again. 7) To never have to get a seat belt extender on the plane again. 8) To remain active in my industry... it is hard to do hair all day when you weigh 262! 9) To sleep better. 10) To look as good as I know I can! -
I got the Realize band- and I just found that out at my follow-up appointment today! My doctor says there are extra little "grabbers" on the Realize band that keeps it from slipping. I have no fill- and have lost 19 lbs in under 2 weeks. I feel restriction already- thank goodness! Good luck to all!

Quitting w/ E-cig for Lap Band
Stephanka917 replied to H0pful's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I quit after smoking for 20 years using Chantix. It is a prescription pill- it is a miracle for me and my best friend used it, too. She was a 2 pack a day smoker. I am on a lower dose because the side effects were rough for me on the higher dose- bad dreams and stomach aches- but it is great now. I do not even think about smoking and don't miss it a bit! Good luck! -
Where could you tell first when you lost some weight?
Stephanka917 replied to razberry*kisses's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've lost 11 lbs. since being banded one week ago. I was observing my ankles last night and realized- I ACTUALLY HAVE ANKLES AGAIN!!!! -
Just had surgery in Dec 08
Stephanka917 replied to starting again's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am in the same boat with you! I called my hospital nurse and they allowed me 1/4 c of Protein shake 3x a day and that has helped me a lot. I actually have some energy now! I would call and ask your doctor tomorrow- everyone's doctor is different, but my doc said I should not be suffering. Doesn't hurt to give them a call! ~Steph:thumbup: -
To tell or not to tell?!?
Stephanka917 replied to IWannaBeSkinny's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh man, that made me laugh out loud and my stitches felt like they were going to burst!!! I told everyone except for my parents, of all people! They are very anti fat and have never been supportive of any of my weight loss attempts. ~Steph:thumbup: -
Hi- I saw the metrodome- I am in St. Paul, where do you live? Are you banded yet? Thanks!

Plastic Surgery Terms for Weight Loss Patients
Stephanka917 replied to New Hope's topic in Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery
My Surgeon says he will not even recommend cosmetic surgery until 2 years after my surgery- and it was just last week! But- he says my skin looks pretty good and to use lots of cocoa butter and olive oil to keep my skin well hydrated and it can "mold" around my new body. I hope so, because I sure don't feel like ever having surgery again!!! ~Stephanie:thumbup: -
I am this shallow?
Stephanka917 replied to Maranda's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have a lot of guy friends and once we were all out in a group and a female friend of mine was there. She had not been around in over a year and had lost a lot of weight. When she went to the restroom, all the guys asked me, as soon as she was out of earshot, if it was OKAY to mention how good she looked, etc. I think some people really do not know how to handle it. I did not even tell my family I was getting banded- they are all thin and very hard on me about my weight. I can't wait to see how they react in 6 months! I can tell you- I would be just as upset as you if they ignore my loss!!! Sign in here whenever you feel alone!!! ~Stephanie
