New girl

Its been a while since I posted last, but all is well with my weight loss. I am about 20 lbs from my ultimate goal weight. I have heard the last 20 lbs are the hardest. Currently, I am wearing a size 8 to 10 and can't believe the difference. Such a change from my size 20. I am wondering if anyone has had breast lifts done. I want a good doctor (naturally) but I need to keep the costs down. Any ideas?

Thanks for the kind words Rhonda. I am thinking Mexico. I have a few procedures I would like to do and am starting to research clinics and doctors. I would love to know names of reputable clinics in Mexico or even places like the Dominican.

For the past month or so I have had problems sleeping while laying down. I have had to prop myself up on a bunch of pillows in an upright position. As soon as I am asleep in a normal position, I start choking on liquids and have to run to the toilet. Has anyone else had such problems?

I will try not eating 4 hours or so before I go to bed to see if that helps in the meantime.

Hi Pamela. I too got banded on Jan 30 2009 in Mexico. I too only told two people before I went down for my surgery. It wasn't until I arrived home that I told the rest of my immediate family. I am very proud of my decision to undergo lapband sugery but I will not be sharing this with anyone else in my life. I think its ok to keep parts of ourselves to ourselves. Good luck!

I had my lapband surgery on January 30, 2009. Did anyone get their fills before the 6 week recommended time? I have no restriction and am feeling a bit down.

Hi. I was just banded on Jan 30/09 with Dr. Lopez Corvala in Tijuana at the Hospital Angeles. I had a wonderful experience. The doctor was great and the hospital staff took great care of me. I am still experiencing discomfort and my belly is very swollen. The clear broth diet is getting old but only a few days left to go! Sleeping is still a bit of a challenge. I find that when I try to turn over, my stomach feels like it is pulling. Is that normal? Any pointers and hints as to when the discomfort will go away?

Thanks so much for the advise. I will try that tonight. I felt better yesterday than I do today. I don't know if it is the after affects of the surgery, but I feel lightheaded and nauseous today. Its nice to know there is a light at the end of the tunnel.

Happy New Year. I have just booked myself with Dr. Lopez in Tijuana Mexico. I haven't finalized the date just yet, but I am looking at the end of January. Does anyone have any pointers or helpful hints? I will have to book a room in San Diego the first night because my flight gets in too late, but has anyone taken their own transportation to Tijuana?

Thanks so much for the information. I will give the clinic my information. I will also be setting up my aftercare this coming week....hopefully. If worse comes to worse, I can always travel to Seattle to get my fills done.

Thanks so much for your information. I might just take the trolley to the border and take a taxi, if the clinic is unable to pick me up. I believe the clinic provides a night at the Camino Real in Tijuana. Thanks again for your help.

I will be looking into that on Monday. I live in the Vancouver area, and through this site have heard of a doctor in Delta, which is right in my back yard and another in North Vancouver. Do you have any ideas?

Hi, I am considering lap band surgery in Mexico. Has anyone been to see Dr. Mario Reyes in Mexico. He is quite a bit cheaper than others in the area. I don't want to go with the cheapest, but if he is a good doctor, then why not get a good deal as well.

I was looking forward to coming to the meeting tonight, but with the weather conditions as they are, it doesn't look like I will be able to make it. I am disappointed b/c I wanted to book my surgery within the next few weeks. I guess I will have to surf the blogs.
