Good luck to everyone having surgery this week! I know I whined, but it is SO WORTH IT! I would definitely do it again! I don't know how much opportunity I will have to be online this week except for evenings...I'm planning on getting back to work tomorrow, so wish me luck. I'm in the middle of a couple of home remodels that really need checking on. I will miss reading y'all for sure! Take good care, Stef

I really appreciate everyone's encouragement and advice! The walking is definitely helping, even though it is just around the house and the back yard right now! I'm afraid to get out in the neighborhood just yet, just in case one of those nausea/almost fainting attacks hits me again. That was really scary! And hubby works offshore and won't be back for another three weeks, so I'm keeping it right at the house for now. The walking brings on more gas pains, but the more of those walking pains I endure, the more the gas seems to dissipate some, so I am keeping at it! SimplyMe...you were banded in Hurst a day ahead of me? Very good! It's nice to meet a "neighbor" on here! It's nice to meet everyone on here! Things are looking up!

Thanks Toni and KT! So laying around being miserable is likely only extending the agony. I should be walking, trying to get the gas to dissipate. Makes sense and I'm starting right away. I'm going to have my first shower shortly, and hopefully I will be able to figure out where my port is. I think you folks may be correct and it is on my left side. I didn't know about using a heating pad...I will try that tonight, as well! Thank you, Thank you, Thank you! It's good to be here! Take care, Stef

Gas pains? I don't know if that is what I am experiencing or not. Before surgery, when I read posts about it, I envisioned the typical pelvic gas pains. But what I am having is mostly in my abdomen/lower rib cage area and sometimes it likes to shoot into my chest when I start walking. There seems to be zero relief for what I am feeling. Is this what others are feeling? I would love to know if I'm "normal"! LOL (I've never been normal before...don't know why I'm worried about it now!:girl_hug:) Also, I'm having significant discomfort in my left side. I wonder if that is where my port is? I should probably know this, but I don't yet. Still figuring myself out! Anyone who has had a similar experience, it would be great to know how long it was before you were comfortable again? I need a light at the end of this tunnel. Take care all, Stef

Wow...very bad day. I went out on my patio to have a cigarette earlier. (It is 92 degrees outside today.) When I came in, I was making a grocery list for my mom to get for the kiddos when extreme nausea washed over me and I nearly passed out. :faint: I was able to make it to my bed and that helped to be able to lay down, but then the nausea turned to cold sweats, so I'm not sure what any of that was. I'm just glad it is over for now. I'm one day out and not a happy camper, but I'm sure every day will be much better than the day before. (Right? :help: LOL) I hope all "Junies" are doing well, Stef

Well I am home from the hospital now and am now an official Bandster! It was all very uneventful, which is wonderful. I am feeling significant discomfort...not really pain, per se...but it feels like someone parked their car on my abdomen/chest! LOL Lots of pressure. I haven't experienced any gas or nausea yet, but all I've had today is some Crystal Light...sipping that all day. Slept a little and about to sleep some more, but wanted to post and say hello and tell you Bandsters to be to GO FOR IT! No regrets here at all...just something to go through and this period will be very brief! Good luck to all and take good care, Stef

Well, I have to be at the hospital at 8:30 in the morning for surgery and I'm getting the new Advanced Platform Band! HOORAY!:clap2: And until yesterday, I didn't even know it existed! LOL Anyone else being banded tomorrow? Anyone else from Northeast Texas? (I'm in the Mid-Cities/HEB area on the Ft. Worth line.) I hope all here are doing well and continue to do well! Take care, Stef

Thanks again for the support...surgery in the morning for me! I talked with my doctor today and asked about the new Advanced Platform Band that I just learned about yesterday. Turns out the surgery center I am going to uses the AP Band exclusively! Things just keep getting better and better. Good night, all and see you on the losing side! -

Hello, all! I can't believe I just stumbled across this site on a relatively unrelated search! I've been looking for an active forum with no luck. I must say I think I must be in shock, or numb, or something! Two weeks ago my doctors office submitted to my insurance for approval, so I thought I'd give them a call yesterday to check on it and my approval was just granted yesterday and the letter went out! Talk about coincidence! So I get with my doctors office this morning to see what's next...she asks if I had a date in mind for surgery, so I said "yesterday"! Well, to my surprise, she said "Well, I'm no miracle worker, but how does Friday work for you?" I was shocked, but took the date! I'M GETTING BANDED IN LESS THAN THREE DAYS! WOO-HOO! -
How Many days in the Hospital?
TexasFire replied to luvinke's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
I'm getting banded in the morning. The surgery lasts 45 minutes to an hour and 15 minutes, go to recovery, and when you wake up you get to go home! Total time inside the building is supposed to be 3 to 5 hours. I see you are getting banded in two weeks...good luck and a speedy recovery to you, and keep us posted! Take care, Stef -

Thanks to all...I still can't believe it myself. I am a little concerned about it going so fast for one reason...I keep seeing posts about a pre-op diet? There is no such animal in my world! I understand what it is for, but I'm not doing it and haven't been advised to! My pre-op appointment is tomorrow at 3pm and surgery is Friday morning. It doesn't seem real yet. I'll keep posting and probably ask a lot of questions, so hang in there with me! Take care all, Stef -
Hello, all! Someone kindly told me about this thread and I wanted to introduce myself. My name is Stefanie and I will be banded in two days with Dr. Marsden in Hurst, TX and I can't wait! My sister had a RNY Gastric Bypass a few years ago with outstanding results, so I'm hoping with discipline with eating and excercise that I will have a fantastic outcome as well. I just found out yesterday about my date and I'm not freaked out yet...I don't think it has hit me yet. (I'm hoping it won't! I just want to DO IT!) WISH ME LUCK! P.S. Is there a thread somewhere that discusses what I need to have on hand before surgery? (Foods, medicines, etc.)

Hi everyone! I was wondering if there was anyone here from the Hurst/Euless/Bedford area? Even Arlington would be good. I'm looking for a walking/biking partner at least every other day. River Legacy Park is gorgeous for that!
