Hmmm...interesting comments...both the first and the last. Thank you. Maybe I will go online to see what Weight Watchers is all about...I'm not familiar with it other than knowing it exists, of course. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So for all of you who are sticking to the 1/2 cup food per meal, how the heck do you manage a "normal" amount of calories? What are you eating that you are having success with? To be honest, despite my daily calories, I'm eating much more than 1/2 a cup of food at all meals but breakfast, which is a protein drink before working out. Lunch and dinner are usually about two cups total. (Chicken breast or chicken salad with grapes or a banana or an apple, salmon with brocolli are my mainstays. Jello and SF pudding and SF popsicles are regulars, too.) Even if you are not sticking to the 1/2 cup rule and you are losing consistently, what is your plan that's working?

Thanks to everyone on the NSV! ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ So now I need some advice...I broke my plateau for a mini-second and now I'm right back in it. Discouragement is trying to creep in as of today. I'm taking any and all suggestions as to: 1) Break the plateau, of course! 2) Kill the negative monster trying to creep into my head!

Okay, my weight is not dropping and it's driving me crazy! BUT! I started this journey at a 2X, and was ecstatic when I got to the ladies department instead of the plus sizes and was wearing an XL. Yesterday I bought some new workout shorts without trying them on and just grabbed XL's off the rack, hoping they would fit. THEY ARE TOO BIG! I have to go exchange them for Large's! I can't believe it!

Oh boy! Africa! That is scary! There was another boat overtaken not long ago. Of course, nothing much ever really happens, but it is never a good thing when the natives take over with guns. There was talk of hubby going some time back...I'm glad nothing came of it. You be careful! What do you do out there on the boats?

Good for you on working the soreness out instead of laying out alltogether! No, a fill shouldn't preclude you from working out the next day. I make my fill appointments early and I go straight from the office to the gym, no problem! You'll see...a fill is usually no big deal. If you are getting yours in Hurst, Amy will be doing it and watch out! She had me laughing last time with that big needle in my gut! She's a ham! It didn't hurt though, just freaked me out a little to be belly-laughing while she was doing that. Do you live in Hurst? And now I'm curious about your bootcamp...is it at River Legacy? My sis did that one a while back and I was thinking about it, but I can't run to save my life!

Just going by the handout that everyone gets from the place I was banded, the answer is no. It is what it is as far as physically. It says that if I were to get sick, not from the band (like stomach flu or something), that I am to call right away to have all fill removed. This is to keep the band from slipping due to the contractions in your stomach that make you vomit. It doesn't go into great detail...that's about all it says in the post op directions about that.

Yes, please join! There are no rules. Just figure up how many minutes of excercise you want to complete by the end of the month and post it here. MM keeps track of us all, bless her! You can post as often as you like. Some people post the number of minutes they do for that day, and some people post their total for the month so far. It's totally up to you.

Thank you! I've always considered myself "The Queen of Sarcasm". Funny sounds better. LOL Yeah, I totally know what you mean about finding your hip bones. (Though hubby is not crazy about that. He thinks my goal weight is way too low.) I am waiting for my clavicle (collar bone) to start showing! I don't have a lot there now, so hopefully it will become a little more pronounced before vacation and the formal dresses!

INSUB - Thank you for the encouragement. I was really beating myself up about it, but I'm better now. Someone mentioned OCD. I'm not, but have a tendency towards being too hard on myself, I think. (I know that is no surprise to anyone here! LOL) I am extremely driven! Today is a new day and I am back on track...thanks to folks like yourself being so kind and supportive on here. JA9VA - You are welcome! I started getting a little concerned about the hair thing and thought I would share what I found. The most concerning one for me was that it is common to lose hair three to four months after a surgery! We are definitely in that time frame! About being sick, I have not. But I do know that my surgical paperwork says that if I start vomiting, that I am supposed to call the office immediately to have all fill removed. This helps prevent the band from slipping from the violent contractions. I hope you aren't sick?

Welcome back, Captain! We missed you! EW! Eight weeks on as a permanent rotation? I'd hate that! When hubby was with Oceaneering, he worked like that...between eight and twelve weeks out with never more than two weeks off. It was like he was in the Navy again! I was wondering if you were in the offshore biz! Hubby is definitely a boat man. He works as an ROV supervisor for Veolia six weeks on, three weeks off. Is your boat going to supply the Gulf now? I guess I assumed (incorrectly) that all boats had satellites. That would suck not having internet! I'd go nuts if I couldn't talk to hubby every day.

OH, BABY! I LOVE THE EXCITEMENT IN HERE NOW! I may have to reevaluate my goal. I pulled two muscles...one in lower right back and the other is the left obliques. (Those freakin' reverse crunches did the obliques in!) I'll know more in a couple days. This has happened before...hurt like hell on my right obliques...but I pushed through and the excercise worked the soreness out within a few days. This time it hurts worse, though. We will see! I am not liking the speed at which my scale is dropping. But my clothes are getting looser, which is awesome! And when I was driving today I noticed my arm looked weird. What was it? MY TRICEPS! Woo-Hoo! I am LOVING that part! I'm so tempted to take my measurements, but I will wait until the 15th of the month, per plan.

Here are a few articles I found on the subject of hair loss. I'm seeing a little loss, but I don't know if I'm paranoid now, or if it's actually more loss. LOL Anyhow, there are lots of articles...these are just a few that rose to the top in a Google search. ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ What causes excessive hair loss? A number of things can cause excessive hair loss. For example, about 3 or 4 months after an illness or a major surgery, you may suddenly lose a large amount of hair. This hair loss is related to the stress of the illness and is temporary. Full article: Hair Loss and Its Causes -- familydoctor.org Deficient diet Some people who go on low Protein diets, or have severely abnormal eating habits, may develop protein malnutrition. To help save protein the body shifts growing hair into the resting phase. If this happens massive amounts of hair shedding can occur two to three months later. A sign of this is if the hair can be pulled out by the roots fairly easily. This condition can be reversed and prevented by eating the proper amount of protein. Its very important when dieting to maintain an adequate protein intake. Major surgery/chronic illness Anyone who has a major operation - a tremendous shock to the system - may notice increased hair shedding within one to three months afterwards. The condition reverses itself within a few months but people who have a severe chronic illness may shed hair indefinitely. A relatively unknown fact is that hair transplantation surgery can actually cause additional hair loss or "shock fallout". Hairs lost from shock fallout usually don't regrow. Full article: What causes hair loss in men and women ~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~ I just thought this was a good one, but is off the hair loss topic: Weight Loss, the ABC's of how to lose weight and keep it off.

I don't want to tell you what it did to my system! Let's just say my belly is still gurgling and painful. I made myself sick. Thanks for the encouragement, guys. I still can't believe it. The kids don't like mint, so I crumbled the rest of them into the toilet and FLUSHED!

Saturday night I took my son to the store to get him some munchies. I saw this cookie I had never seen before...milk chocolate covered mint Oreo's. OMG they are HEAVEN! I ate half the box yesterday! (Granted, there are only 12 to a box, but STILL!) I feel terrible! I haven't blown my eating plan to that degree before EVER and I can't believe I couldn't stop. I'm so mad at myself. UGH!

ItsJustMe - No, you are not a failure. The goal that I was given was 5 to 10 pounds a month, and you have done that. Your BMI is not real high, so you will not lose as fast as those with much more to lose. You won't lose the same as anyone else, for that matter. You are on target and a genuine success with your weight loss to date. Keep up your efforts and pat yourself on the back because you deserve it. Me, I feel like my body is mocking me...the first month 25 pounds and I was ecstatic, then 10 the next, then 6. I refuse to let it continue like this! I just keep plugging along and push the negative out of my head. It would be very easy to let frustration overcome, believe me. This place helps a LOT. So do the folks at my gym. Good for you on getting a trainer! That should really get you focused. They are great for giving you a plan, even if you don't meet with them long-term. Chin up! You are doing great!
