January Exercise - HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)

LivingTheDream - I'm gonna call you LD for short unless you mind? What is the "book of muscle"? Hey, you can be a walking infomercial all you want! Do what works! Welcome! Please come back and post often! The regulars here post every day as to what their workout is (or isn't!). Today was leg day at the gym. Wow...adding powdered creatine to my "gym juice" really made a difference today. I was able to do three sets of 12 with 270# with no problem, so I threw another 45# plate on each side and did three more sets of 12 with 360#!!! Based on the level of difficulty, I am guessing I will be bumping that up to 450# (possibly) in about two more weeks. Also did six sets 12 on kickbacks for each leg with the first three sets being 40# and the last three sets being 50#. Those are hard, and I don't anticipate being able to go up to 60# any time soon. We didn't have time to do the extensions today, so I'll do them at home after dinner. SO GLAD I GOT MY HOME GYM! Total of an hour and a half at the gym today. I also went 22 miles on my cycle trainer this morning, and may do more later tonight, but my legs are a tad blown up right now, so we'll see.

January Exercise - HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)

I know spin will be intimidating at first, but so was the free weight room! (And now I LIVE in there.) I can't wait for my spin classes to start. I signed up for two classes...one starts on the 15th and the other starts on the 17th. Did I say I can't wait? LOL WHOS - Trek makes a liner short that you can wear under your regular shorts. They are inexpensive and REALLY make a difference in staying in the saddle longer. Try your LBS...they should have them. Bike shorts are hella expensive, so I really suggest the liner to start with to see how you do. JM - I love that you are addicted to spin! Makes me want to start even more! EVERYONE - About the challenge...I'm gonna throw some ideas out and yall add to them or take away...whatever the masses agree on, but I want us to get started! LOL What do yall think about a two-fold challenge? Weight loss and exercise time. Check in once a week with the week ending on Sunday. Start a new thread or keep it here? (It might be messy here.) We set our own goals, competing against ourselves. Complete and utter honesty with numbers and food and the like. Kick each other in the butt when we need it, cheering each other on always. I don't mind making a spreadsheet to track and keep up with everyone and posting it in the thread. What else?

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Wow we really do all deserve each other! I've been moving towards the no meat thing for some time. I'm a mega bitch, too. And I have a BAD problem with starting and not finishing. LOL My thing with fruits and veggies is that I enjoy them most and also I have such a hard time with meat, anyhow. I will continue with fish, however. I have to have my salmon! I do still have milk, eggs, yogurt and the like. So not quite vegetarian, but definitely MUCH healthier.

I don't watch the show, but now am curious about what this ass of a dad said? Tell me! B - Oh I'm hoteling it! I want to be comfortable and sleep in a real bed after the first long-ass days' ride and before the second long-ass days' ride!

JM... I haven't tried the vanilla...not a vanilla fan. The chocolate and banana are pretty awesome if you are going for the casein link I put up. For whey Protein, I use EAS Premium Protein in chocolate for 27g of protein, which I double in the mornings. I get that at costco. Yeah, I'm super-psyched about the new year, too! If we are talking weight goals, I have lose another 39 pounds. I would love to see a size 10 or even an 8 would be amazing!

Mine are getting pretty big, too...they just spin around now and I'm always having to put them upright...bugs me! My jeweler will size them for free, but I just don't want to be without them. When they are in danger of falling off, I will take care of them then. HP - how exciting for you and the new bike! You don't have long to wait now! ALL - I'm at my mom's, who made a very nice dinner. Now she has just pulled hot homemade brownies with tons of walnuts out of the oven and is dishing them up to everyone. She has asked me four times so far..."Are you SURE you don't want some?" I could shoot her.

January Exercise - HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)

Welcome everybody! Love to see all the faces here! WHOS, gotta ask...what the heck do you do that keeps you so on the move?!?!? (Hey, I made a rhyme! Yes, I'm a major nerd! ) I just love Baltimore, but in warmer months...love Inner Harbor, the aquarium, all the restaurants and shopping! Karey...I hope the casein helps you as it has me. With more and more studies, casein is showing to have real long-term benefits over other types of Proteins, though whey is still the best assimilated for immediate post-workout...bar none. I think it's good to use a combination throughout the day to glean the most benefit from all. Good luck to all on your goals! Let's be tough and keep each other accountable! My 2008 goal is to reduce my body fat to 20% or less (first and foremost), start crosstraining with running, keep up my cycling and weight training. Punkey...I would be interested in a weight/exercise challenge. How do you want to set it up?

January Exercise - HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)

Hey, snow shoveling DEFINITELY counts as exercise! Did 120 crunches today. Also did a 30 minute workout at home on biceps and triceps. Looks like my left tricep is all right after all, which is fantastic news. Was unsuccessful at getting hubby out to run, dag nab it!

January Exercise - HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)

Oh, I didn't know you made one! And after WHOS and I were posting in the November thread until something like the tenth of December when DiBaby clunked us over the head, I figured I better put a link to it when I made this one! LOL So sorry, girlie! I was gonna delete this one, but I saw that you just linked yours to here. I'll check first next time!

January Exercise - HAPPY NEW YEAR! :)

Welcome, Karey! Please do join in and come back often! I'm glad you saw some value in the Protein info I shared. About the casein protein... Bodybuilding.com - Optimum 100% Casein Protein - Slow Protein Digestion! On sale now! That is what I use. I have to say that my sleep is markedly improved after incorporating this, as well. I have been a chronic insomniac all my life, so this is huge for me. I see that your goal loss is similar to mine. Do you mind if I ask what BMI your goal will land you at? I'm so envious of your TT & BL date! Those are the two things I am thinking more and more about...possibly augmentation versus a lift, but nonetheless I'm having a hard time convincing hubby. We will see how that goes. How did you decide on a surgeon? Did you find a large cost variance among the different docs? LOL I guess I have a lot of questions! Tell me to mind my own business if it's too much!

    December Exercise

Once the home gym was assembled yesterday, I got on to try her out. Didn't know how much weight was on it when I went to try the flys...needless to say it was too much and I think I pulled my one of my left triceps. Not too bad, but still feeling it. An hour and a half at the gym today...shoulder workout. REALLY good workout...pushed my limits well and it felt GREAT. The gym is closed tomorrow, so I'm hoping to talk hubby into going running. I haven't run to date and I want to see how I might do. Keep me in your prayers that I survive! :faint:

Wow, almost pure liquids? I would die! But I must say that your shake recipe sounds yummy and I will be trying it in the morning. Thanks for sharing that. Yeah, the junk goes down fine for me, too. Like the Drumstick ice cream cone that hubby just brought home for me and I promptly ate! He is such a saboteur! LOL Yes, exercise is so ingrained me now that I hope that I NEVER have the chance to regain the weight.

Okay, B...what are you eating if you can't have any meat whatsoever? I usually have the same problem with things getting stuck all the time, and I haven't had a fill for a long time...I think at least two months. I still try...and still get stuck...and it really pisses me off when I can't eat the simplest things. Makes hubby feel bad, too, when we are out to eat and he's chowing down and I can't get past the second bite. It is really getting frustrating.

    Has anyone taken up Bycyling?

Ha! To get hubby to buy the gym, I had to vow that I would never hang clothes on it! LOL Honestly, I really think it will get used way too much for that. My trainer is a Travel Trac Century V Fluid Plus. I tried a magnetic in the store and just didn't care for it. I still have to figure out what I want to do with the adjustment lever, because I don't want it permanently mounted on my handlebar. Just letting it sit there on the bar seems to work fine, though...so I may just leave well enough alone. This way I can pop her off the trainer pretty quick and take her outside for a good spin.
