I learned a painful lesson today!

I can not answer the question about going on a liquid diet but I too learned a painful lesson. I was eating some eggs this morning with 1 slice of toast. I did not chew well enough and got stuck. I tried to drink so that the food would go down and I ened up getting neausa and throwing up. It did not feel good to have food stuck. I need to learn to slow down. This is just a learning lesson. I'm sure I will have more to go. so far everything I have tried has agreed with me. I just started to eat solids on Friday.
  2. I just started to have solids and can't wait for my first fill. I am basically watching calories and trying to make really good food choices. I am a cook and the following is how I ate yesterday: Breakfast: vanilla protien shake Lunch: 1 hash brown made in the oven (not the best choice) Snack: imitation crab meat about 2 0z with a little dijonaise musturd spread over 1 slice whole wheat lowfat toast dinner: 3 oz baked chicken with homeade lentil peas and about three tablespoons of steamed white rice. (I'm puerto Rican and will not loose the rice) late evening snack 1 small 100 cal fat free popcorn. Lot's of Water....
  3. I was banded on Wed 1/7/09 and was seen for my first post op appointment on Tues 1/13/09. The Dr. stated that I should continue full liquids for five days than progress to soft foods for five days and if I tolerate the soft foods than move on to a regular diet. This is different from the materials that they provided on the post op diet. Has anyone followed something similiar?

    2 days post op

I was banded on 01/07/09 and my husband was banded 01/16/09 we both experienced lots of shoulder pain. I would say the pain went aways about 5 days later. My biggest problem throughout recovery has been the gas pain. My suggestion is to drink hot tea which helped me burp alot. I also chewed gas x. My husband lives by a hot cup of tea for relief and comfort. Niether one of us have had any problems with drinking. I hope you feel better.

Need a fill center in Cary or Raleigh NC

Yes, look up Paul Enoch or Joseph Moran. They are both great Dr's. Dr. Enoch is in Cary and Dr. Moran is in Raleigh. Good luck.....
  7. sorry for your lost. I was sore and had some discomfort but I was still able to take care of my baby, go shopping and get my eye brows waxed. Dress very comfortable, I made the mistake of wearing jeans that were a little tight. You should be fine.

    overcoming emotional eating

I think everyone that is obese and overweight has encountered some sort of emotional eating. Loosing weight even with a band is a very emotional journey. I am six days post op and I find myself on an emotional rollercoster. I have to continue to remind myself why I want to loose weight. You are correct in seeking out some treatment. Continue to research and educate yourself. Take the negative thoughts out of your mind and focus on all the positives that you would like to achieve. Today is day 8 on a liquid diet and I can't believe someone who loves food as much and I do could have made it 8 days with no food. I am scarred too. I'm scarred that when I begin to eat regular food that I might mess up. I am looking at my life now one day at a time. Each day that I have survived brings me closer to my goal which is to be healthy and feel like a normal person. Good luck to you and God bless
  9. Hello to all, Today is day 7 on liquid diet and day 5 post op. I was put on a seven day post op clear liquid diet which consist of broth, Jello, popsicle, etc. I find myself going through an emotional rollercoster. I am a wife and a mother of 3 boys ages 13, 10 and 1. I feel bad to say this but I really wish I could go away far from my family until this liquid diet is over. It's hard to smell the food cooking and continue feeding the kids when I'm just dying for some. I'm not physically hungry, I'm just so sick of the liquids. Please send some inspiration my way. Thanks
  10. you go girl!! Question, how do I start a thread? this website has changed.
  11. I must admit I have been pretty shocked when reading that someone during post op is eating a burger. I guess people with eating disorders will find themselves struggleing big time. I try not to pass judement and hope that I can continue to be strong. Nothing anyone post is going to fustrate me. I think the reason this site was created is to learn and support one another.

    Driving again?

I was told no driving for 1 week. I did drive the next day after surgery because I had no other choice. I had to drop off my 1 year old to his grandmother who does not drive. It was eaither chassing my 1 year old around or taking the chance to drive. I only drove about 3 miles and made my husband pick up the baby after work so that I would not have to. I did have some discomfort driving. Day 2 of driving was no problem. Today is day 3 and I feel really well. Everyone is different with how long it takes them to heal.
  13. Thanks, My surgery did go well Thank God and thank you for adding me to your prayer. I'm a little sore and have some gas. I'm not even thinking about food. Please pray that last until this liquid diet is over. I'm sorry to hear you have been diagnoised with mild sleep apnea but at least you know what you have and can be treated. This is also good modivation to keep you moving forward with the Lap band surgery.

What I think of Oprah's show today!

I watched her Show last night and must say that she inspired me to do well. I love Oprah and I know that if someone with all that money has a struggle with her weight than it makes sense that being over weight is far more than the food that we eat. I got a good message from her show and that is that I must always make time for myself. I must respect the body that God has given me and cherrish it. I must love me more than anything or anyone.
  15. Congratulations, my surgery is tomorrow 01/07/2009 @ 12:00 P.M. I can definitely relate to your reason for wanting to have the surgery. I'm 32 and I want to live as long as possible. My family has a history of diabetes and I really want to avoid any risk factors which currently at my weight I have a huge risk factor. I know that as I age and have this weight that diabetes is just right around the corner. Good luck and God bless you, Janet....
  16. I agree with you all but I can not wait to not have to shop @ plus size stores. This will save me alot more money. I'm looking foward to wearing dresses in the summer as they are much more comfortable and cool.
