I went forward to get the lap band surgery because my family would agree with it andbe behind me. I researched it and my daughter who is a NPRN came to the first meeting with me.   She wouldn't agree for me to have gastric surgery. I have been overweight all my life.    In high school i weighted 150.   After my first child I weighted 175.  After my 2nd child I weighted 220.  My weight has been above 220 for over 26 years.   I did do a fasting program back in 2005 and lost 60lbs and keep it off for 2 years.  I have developed Type 2 diabetes. I treat the diabetes with diet only.   My blood sugars are around 115-150.  I did this surgery to help me get the type 2 diabetes out of my life.   This was my main reason behind the surgery.I started at 260lbs.   I had to loose 18lbs before I could see my surgeon.   I did that by mid January 2009.   Once I saw the surgeon they could schedule my surgery date.  I had surgery on February 16,2009.   I lost 10 more lbs after surgery.  I have put 10lbs back on. I think I have had 7 or 8 fills.   My last fill was December 15. 2009.  That was the first fill I had that food now get stuck if I don't chew it well or eat to fast. I'm going for another fill March 9, 2010.  In between my fist 5  fills I would tell my doctor that I didn't think the band was working.  He would give me another fill.  Last September I was still able to eat a grinder.   After the December fill, I don't eat  bread unless it's toasted. There are other things now. I would like to know what I can do to not feel hungry all the time.
