    Disappointed Big Time

I wish that I could, this is scaring me because I have 6 cc's in my 10 cc band and still no restriction and I to have put on a couple of pounds since my lapbad in March. I had no idea that restriction meant food getting stuck or feeling like it was stuck so I would get it down and continue eating. I wasn't full afterall??

    Before banding practice

How does everyone follow the pre-op and post-op instructions. I am having the hardest time with that and have all my life. It says only eat 1200 calories a day, eat more Protein, exercise everyday, etc, etc. Hello! If I could do that I wouldn't be fat! That is why I had the band because I couldn't do these things! I apoligize for being negative, but do you all eat like you're suppose too? Does the band make you eat this way or when you start losing you start eating better?? Maybe I will find out when I do start to lose or when I get the restriction I need to lose? The other thing is, why do most of you have goals of weighing 125-150 pounds? Even when I wore a size 4, I didn't weigh 125 pounds. Are these realistic goals? I do hope the best for everyone and I am inspired by all of you! I can hardly wait for the pounds to start coming off! God bless.

    Potty-Training Boys???

my son is 5 1/2 now and has been potty trained since 3 1/2 however his bladder is ineffective at night. He is so proud when he doesn't wet the bed at night but that is because if I know he had lots of liquid before bed I will carry him to the potty at midnight (this is a major task). I have read that boys take way longer and also their bladders don't mature as fast where they can hold their urine at night. I read that by the age of 6 is when their bladders should be fully mature. I hope this helps. But I have heard of cherrios in the toilet to aim at. I was very worried when he was 3 and still going poo in his pants. I thought oh my gosh he has an issue. He didn't it just takes them longer and boys don't really care as much as girls do about messing in their pants. Good luck!!!
  6. I had my second fill last Monday and still nothing. I still am the same weight I was before surgery. I am just really dissapointed in the entire process. I hope it gets better soon. Thanks to all for your support!!!

BEWARE!!Why did he use 11cm band on me??

I have had 2 fills, one with my doctor in Mexico where he said he put in 5 cc's and then today in SF and he put in 1 cc. He said my esophugus needs to heal and I cannot eat more the 1/2 cup of food in order for the muscle to start working again. It is not pushing liquid through because when we watched the barium it went up and down and then eventually went through the band into the stomach. He said it could stop all together and then I won't be able to swallow at all. Also, I had no idea that restriction meant the golf ball stuck in the chest feeling, so I would just wait for it to pass or drink fluid to get it down and then I would just continue eating, Wrong!!. I just figured my stomach pouch was smaller now and I would get a full feeling, WRONG! I guess I learned by making mistakes. I wish I would have known about this site before my surgery. Live and Learn! I will be estactic when my weight eventually does come off.
  9. 2 months post op. 168 pounds then and still 168 pounds... Just found that my doctor in Mexico put in size 11cm band. I understand this is only used for very, very large men. Now why did he do this? have 40 pounds to losewith a 27 BMI. I The only thing I can figure is that I insisted on the american band (INAMED) and they were trying to tell me to have the Swedish band but I thought I would have trouble getting fills with the band that was not FDA approved. Perhaps the doctor didn't have any 9.75 or 10cm bands in the INAMED so he gave me and 11cm that maybe was sitting around for awhile. I have no idea but I am not happy about it. This doctor in the city told me that they usually put in the Swedish band because it is cheaper for them but they tell you it is the INAMED. I also found out that there are doctors in the States that will put in the band if your under 30 BMI and they are less expensive if insurance doesn't pay. In Mexico I paid $9200 with flights, and came back for fill at no charge except the flight and hotel. I have invested over 12K and still have not lost any weight. San Fran was only $8200 with 5 years of fills. I also found out my asophogus (sp?) is failing.

    Why are YOU Fat?

ok, here it goes.... I grew up chubby and my lovely sister always called me fatty and other caring and thoughtful words a sibling might say. I guess I took it literelly and made her words truthful. Even when in high school I was wearing her size 5 jeans. But that didn't last long because after she would call me fatty again, I would bloat back up to my chubby self. I allowed her words to dictate how I was going to look and feel about myself. It is sad that when growing up I was never told that I was a great person no matter how much weight I had on me. I wish I could have been stronger and had some self esteem. I hate blaming others for my misfortune and I am the only one to blame first of all for stuffing my face and secondly for believing the lies others were saying to me and making what they said, "truthful". :think

I'm new here and I don't get it!!

I think a lot of us get this done in Mexico? I did and wonder why, besides the cost. My doctor in Mexico will fill at no charge but....so I am trying to find someone near San Francisco. I also had no idea this was a process and I would need so many fills before I would lose weight.

    Lap Band Complications

Thank you for warning us of this and I really pray that you will be ok and regain your health. It is nice to lose weight, however; if this is the price to pay not sure if it is worth it? Perhaps, the next question to ask our doctor's is, "after reaching our goal do we get the band removed?" God Bless...

    Is this normal?

I just woofed down 7 chocolate chip rice cakes and had no problem at all. It's no wonder I haven't lost any weight! Just wondering if this is normal? I mean normal as far as no restriction, I already know eating that much in one sitting is not normal.:phanvan My doc told me at my fill not to eat bread or Pasta because there is no way it would go through that he made it so tight. Banded March 10 and one fill a week ago. I had my fill and went back the next day and begged the doctor to put more saline because I had eaten a can of pistacios (sp?). So he supposedly put in so much he said I would be back to have some taken out. No such luck!!:hungry:
  14. I have my second fill scheduled for May 1st. My issue is they want $575 for the fill, $375 for every fill and a one time fee of $200 for the hospital xray. Does anyone think this is a scam? After spending already over 12K for the band and first fill this is freaking me out! Does anyone know a doctor near San Fran area that is less $$$ for a fill? I will drive within 50-100 miles instead of getting ripped off. Of course in my case I have no choice because I have had no restriction yet and have not lost any weight as of yet. I have tried the website that is recommended and the nearest one is in So. Calif. (500 miles away). Thank you to all.....
