Nervous is very normal. I had my band 5 months ago and the day before the surgery, I thought about canceling it too. I am glad I didn't and I wish I've it done long time ago. Good luck to everyone that is going to have surgery. Let's know how you are doing :tongue2:

I had my surgery 4/21, so it has been about 3.5 months out. I am losing my hair at an alarming rate. I mean every morning when I wash my hair, I can see a bunch of hair (at the hair catcher thingy) and everywhere in the house. I am the only girl in the house so I know that it is my hair. I am eating the right amount of Protein and mainly all food group (not much on fruits though). I have heard it can cause from the anesthesia; however, when will it stop? What can I do in the mean time to help this? Thank you so much, Anissa

Hair Loss at an alarming rate - I need help!
tcbgirl replied to tcbgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Nioxin is shampoo and conditioner for people who have hair lost whether due to chemo, surgery or etc. You can find it at almost all the hair salon place. I've heard that Sallys has their own line which is a lot cheaper than the brand name. For Biotin, it is a supplement for hair, skin and nails. You can find it at most drugstores. I bought mine from Walmart about $3. HTH. -

Update- After using Nioxin products for a month, I can say that it is improving. I still losing hair and it has decreased a whole lot...even my husband is happy not that he worried about me going bald but he doesn't have to vaccume the bathroom everyday now :-) -
I put down 20 lbs if I meet my goal, it would be the same weight that I was when I came to the U.S. 11 years ago. Ironically, I am going home for a visit around that time too

I am going to ask my surgeon today (fill day) since I will be going back to my hometown (Thailand) in a month. The trip is a long one 20+ hours, so I am scare about it. I know I can take an empty bottle on the plane, but will the flight attendance fill the bottle up for me or I have to use their cup. The reason is so I don't have to ask for Water that often. Thanks,

I had Cigna. They are great as long as you meet their requirements. 5 years weight history, 6 months diet supervised by doctor, BMI over 40 or BMI over 35 with one significant co-morbidity, psy evaluation. I am not sure if it is still the same requirements or not. You can check it out at http://www.cigna.com/customer_care/healthcare_professional/coverage_positions/medical/mm_0051_coveragepositioncriteria_bariatric_surgery.pdf For me, my BMI is at 42 but it only has been like that for 6 months; however, I do have sleep apnea and that is what made me qualified. Good luck, -
I am trying to see if my band is too tight for me. I had my 4th fill 08/24/09. Every time I drink liquid, I can feel it slowly going down. I have to take one sip and wait and cannot do 2-3 sips at one time. The food stuck sometimes but I think because I did not chew it well. I get full faster than before but I am still hungry after 2 hours. One time I was eating something spicey and want to a sip of Water and it stucked. Are these things mean that I am too tight? Thank you so much,

I am currently on my 4th day and it is still a lot. The cramp is still here too. May be because we lost weight and our body is working properly again?

Please go to the doctor. I had it too the day after surgery and turned out, I had pneumonia. Please let us know how you are doing. -

Walmart carry papaya enzyme. As for tight feeling, I had it too for 4 weeks after surgery due to the fill they gave me at surgery. After about a month, everything is good. My doctor told me though, if I think it is way too much, he will get some fill out. Do they have an on call doctor that can help you? What have you been eating btw? -
Need food idea to take along to the hospital please?
tcbgirl posted a topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
My 3 years old will have tonsillectomy and adenoidectomy this Thursday. He has to spent the night at the hospital too. I just want some food idea for me to take along. I am almost 4 months out and with no restriction. The food at the hospital is very limited too. They have Taco bell, McDonald, pizza hut, Subway and the Grill (homemade food). I am planning to take Slim Fast, South Beach High Protein Bar, and Almonds. Any recommendation is greatly appreciate. Thanks, -

I agree. A hospital should have a better food choice than this (healthy ones). Maybe I need to take 2 packs of slimfast just in case I have nothing to eat. Thanks again for your help. -
smilan - please don't beat yourself up. You have lost 50 lbs in 5 motnhs..that's a lot. I had that happen too about a month a go and found out that I did not eat enough food (got all my Protein in but not enough calories). I started counting calories and the weight come off again not fast but not stalled for weeks either. Hang in there ok you are doing good :-)

JayTee - I just asked my family doctor yesterday and he prescribed me something called Silvedene. I googled it and decide not to get it since it is a burn cream. I read it and it has side effects, so I am going to continue using Maderma (over the counter). My scars still have reddish color. Good luck with your coming up surgery. Please keep us post.

libby58 - do the doctor office has doctor on call? You should not suffer like this for another month. -
My BMI was 42.3 :-)

I asked my pcp to send to to sleep study not knowing that I actually had apnea. It was a good thing since I am sleeping much better now and the insurance approved me for the band. Anissa

Hair Loss at an alarming rate - I need help!
tcbgirl replied to tcbgirl's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi guys, Yesterday, I went to get a hair cut (short) to help with the falling out (my own thinking) and also staring to take Biotin and watch my Protein intake. Hopefully, us girls will stop shredding and start to grow some new hair soon. I've email my NUT and see what else I need to do. Will let you all know what she said. Hang in there, this too shall pass :-) -
