Did you tell others about surgery?

you said that at times you went for a month without losing.... did you have to go for an adjustment to remedy it? how often did you or do you have to have fills etc??? thanks...talk to you later :0)

So , how long have you been banded. Honestly...what is the worst part of the whole being banded? I know there is a ton of positives...but what has been the hardest thing for you? how much have you lost and do you fluctuate much? Have you noticed how many people on this site are around 40? I think by then people just realize they have waited long enough to take control and just do it! I need to talk to my husband some more tonight and figure out what I'm going to do (self pay or the long insurance road)Wish it wasn't such a long process.... take care

That's what i have heard.. That not as much personal stuff is needed and the whole process is much quicker for self pay. If i decide to do this i am just going to put it all on a credit card offer i guess.i get some pretty good rates...my husband and i talked about it a lot last night. I just pointed out that now that i am soooo ready to do this, i would just hate to go through all of the insurance hoops and hurdles and then be rejected for coverage. It would be such a waste of time....i just imagine how far i could be into my "journey" by then if i just went ahead and did it myself! But it is a lot of money.......??? Ps i hate soy.... I guess i just don't know how to use it???

Hi there.. I haven't been banded yet, but trying to learn everything i can now....i am a vegetarian...i hear how important the proteins are.... Did you tell others about surgery?

I haven't been banded yet....still waiting... But i don't know what i'm going to do either. My sister and i have been talking about doing it at the same time now that my insurance will cover it(she has actually been planning on it before me)and i have really only talked it over with her and my husband. The only problem is, she will not keep her mouth shut, i'm sure of it, so there goes my privacy. I am not ashamed of it, but like many of you said...you don't want to feel like you have a babysitter over your shoulder...or people thinking that you took the easy way out...what the !**! There is nothing easy about changing your whole way of life....the eating, the exercise, and did i mention the eating!!!! I really don't over eat.... I just eat too much at one sitting only one or two times a day.....i don't ever eat in the morning... And when i do eat it's like a big bowl of pasta or 4 slices of pizza at dinner time.... Question: Are there any banded vegitarians out there.... I am one and i hear that you really have to force the proteins...scared i won't get enough of them when i do this. I have done nothing but gain weight since i stopped eating meat(14yrs)...(but mind you , i have also born 3 children) i am just starting this process....but i am afraid that because i am pretty healthy(just overweight) that my insurance might reject me... Really thinking of just doing self pay..... When you see a therapist, what do they want to know????what are the doctors wanting to hear??? Thanks for any reaonse....take care
  9. I am kind of in the same boat..I am heavy, but not totally unhealthy... I did have gestational diabetes with my last child. My family history is crazy, Dad died, diabetes/heart attack, sister died diabetes, Brother actually died last year, but they got him back, he has diabetes and had a massive heart attack, other brother had a heart attack 2 years ago and my closest sister now has diabetes. I am DOOMED! I need to do something about it and am so afraid of being turned down by insurance also.... what are they looking for me to say??I appreciate anyones experience and response...thanks!

    Anyone getting banded in January

My husband is supportive of my getting surgery, but I need to point out that he has never said anything neg to me abut being overweight. That's all fine and good, but I wasn't' overweight when we met, so I know that isn't what he was attracted to, but we have been together about 20 yrs(boy that makes me feel old)and our love is way deeper than appearance. When you talk about it with your husband does he have fear of the actual surgery, or does he think that you'll change or what??? Maybe he is just scared of change....just point out all of the positive aspects that will come out of it....there are sooo many! good luck and take care
  11. From what I have read.... all of your symptoms are to be expected. You will probably have good days and bad days, physically and mentally...everytime that you question why? just picture yourself thinner and healthier and you will answer your own question... I am proud of anyone who makes the decision to take control...it's YOUR life! Congrats and keep with the updates..

    Anyone getting banded in January

I have BCN in MI. It will start in Jan. The insurance I have now doesn't cover anything!!! I am making an appt with my primary doctor tomorrow and talk everything over with her... I wish that I would have started this process a long time ago, I have thought about it for so long that it seems like I should be able to just go and do it already!! I know I want it, I don't feel like I need to beg my way through the process. I just hope that I don't go through all of the hoops and then get rejected by insurance. I am not really unhealthy(except for being overweight) but I am borderline diabetic. and my family history is HORRIBLE! heart attacks, diabetes...have already lost a sister and almost lost both of my brothers last year....I know that it's just a matter of time for me, and why wait to get to that point? I have 5 kids that I need to think of...this is really an informative site, I appreciate all of your stories and updates... it's really inspirational... thanks
  13. I have Blue Care Network, here in MI. I need to find a surgeon, the Doctor that did my relative doesn't do the lap band procedure...I wish I would have started the whole process earlier....but you really have to be in a mindset for it. How are you feeling?

    Anyone getting banded in January

Hey everyone...just starting this long process...I was planning on doing the self pay, everything looked like it was going to be quick and simple.... but now, come Jan 1st I have insurance that will cover surgery.....I guess this is great but I heard that there is a lot more involved with counseling etc... and that there are going to be a lot of hoops to jump through. Can anyone out there give me a heads up on what they expect to make this process go quicker.??? I was raring to go, now it looks like it will be a while. I am SOOOO ready! CONGRATS TO EVERYONE AND THANKS IN ADVANCE!
  15. Hi there.... I am just starting this process... I really have been going back and forth with choosing lapband or gastric bypass. I am leaning toward the lapband procedure (HEAVILY) A couple of people I know have had the GB and are doing great....but then I see the statistics and it seems SO much more dangerous.....What made you choose the lapband? (any of you)Any regrets? I know that it will be hard, but I think the positives that will come out of it will SO outweigh the negs it will be worth it and life changing. I have been saving up for the surgery, but our insurance just changed and now this surgery is covered, but I guess I have to go to counseling or something now...not the same if I was paying cash....can anyone give me the heads up on what they will want to know or are looking for???? thanks for your time.... I appreciate it....kimberlyea
