I am able to eat more than I think I can and the feeling of fullness is not where it should be. I am filled up to 8.0 something. is it easier to cheat if you drink when you eat? sometimes I feel like I have to drink in order to not PB. I think I prepare a drink so I do not panic. Thoughts?

first let me say I hate water! I was a 12 pack a day of diet Mt dew before the band and have one hell of a time kicking the habit. That is until The Quest of the perfect drink for banders. I found the glorious Crystal Light Fruit Punch flavor. This flavor is packed with flavor and when seriously chilled gives the smooth sensation that coke used to give me. the other flavors of Crystal Light don't do it for me, only the Fruit Punch. Give it a try and before you know it you will be off the carbonated drinks and actually taking in your recommended daily Water and more.

I Have Had Alot Of People At Work Ask Are You Sure You Can Eat That, Its Driving Me Nuts. Anyone Else Have Issues With This As Well? I Think I Am More So Tired Of Explaining How The Band Works. -

you know that true, i am not used to people caring so much, I think I have hidden behind food so much I still have alot of baggage to unpack so to speak malluvia, when it comes to dropping the weight the simple statement of I took control of my life and a small pat on the shoulder is all that is needed. -

Oh that is very PC, I was thinking, well if I can't my body will give it back to me in a protective mucous bubble I like to call it recycling. is that too harsh... ba ha hah a but I will probably have to go PC at work anyway. -
Question for all of you "seasoned" lap banders....
MJK Media replied to Babytaffah's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was banded in may and my port would send spikes of deep pain into the back of my skull. it does go away after a few weeks but those weeks are hell, I got tylenol liquid and when it got bad held ice on the area, it seemed to numb it. You should watch what your doing when the pain begins and alter the way you do those things, meaning I would hit a spike when tying my shoes, I had to tie them very loosely so I could slip them on instead. hope that kinda helps. if not you might try rubbing some ben and jerrys around that area, your body could be just plain old pissed off. ha ha ha just kidding it doesn't work -
This morning I weighed Myself and at 295.5 and I had to take a double look because i had my glasses off. Praise Jesus! I have been walking the line with the 300 mark but now I am far enough away to know I can keep it going. Now I am off to redo my ticker! wohoo

Is it normal to get your first fill and for it to do nothing as far as help control the hunger? And I was told I had to wait another month before another fill. that seems a little crazy to me to wait that long. Any thoughts? the hunger is going to drive me nuts!

This section is something I think all the newbies should view to get prepared for the post op liquid diet. Here is one of my favorit Soups recipe and you can make a huge pot by doubling the amounts and then refrigerate the remainder for work and the microwave. Even if you know resturaunts have good soups help us out. just remember this is for the Post op liquid diet. Title: LA MADELEINE'S TOMATO BASIL Soup Categories: Soups Yield: 8 servings 4 c Tomatoes (8-10) -- peeled, Cored And chopped Or 4 c Canned whole tomatoes -- Crushed 12 Fresh basil leaves -- Washed 1 c Heavy cream 1/4 lb Sweet unsalted butter Salt to taste 1/4 ts Cracked black pepper -- Cracked Combine tomatoes, juice and/or stock in saucepan. Simmer 30 minutes. Puree, along with the basil leaves, in small batches, in blender or food processor. Return to saucepan and add cream and butter, while stirring, over low heat. Garnish with basil leaves and serve with your favorite bread.

I am on my post op liquid diet and yesterday I had an episode where it fel like I was going to pass out. but of course I held it together, has anyone else had a similiar experience?
-
I have taken your advice on the butter and cream and replaced it with low fat cream of chicken or mushroom and man it taste good! I also added 5 splashes of tabasco which gives it a little zing

Yes, I am now in my mushie stage and haven't had any as of yet, but still monitoring it. I am able to take down hearty soups and stuff without liquifying it so I am wondering if I am ready for a fill. after 5 weeks of liquids the cambells chicken and rice is like a filet mignon! oooh wee it is soo good. I think Iw as pushing my self a little hard trying to heal quickly. I will continue monitoring and let you know. I was thinking that it might have been the cappucino I had, so i am kind of scared to drink coffee again, anyone else have issues with coffee now?

Great thanks Anne, I will try some advil and see how that works -
Well I have been in stealth mode for a while now and figured it was time to pop my head out. I have my surgery scheduled tomorrow. This of course was a rescheduled date as the docs office forgot to tell me I had to do stress tests, blood test and psych test. With that behind me and 3 weeks on these shakes, I am as prepared as I can be for this thing. Has anyone else gone through the pre-op diet and found that you have to face some serious demons. I have found so many handicaps I have with food. I have found that no matter how full these shakes make me feel I still want to eat. With this new nugget of gold I have begun a mission to rewire my brain (not easy) so that I will no longer look towards food as an emotional transformer. Has anyone gone through this?

Ok thanks, I have been pushing myself to get back to normal and back to work, I am however going on Vacation at the end of the week so maybe I will be able to relax then. -
ok so my full feeling is on the way out on my 6th day I feel like the liquid is going right through me. is this liquid diet still a must for two weeks or what? Anyone else have this problem? Tomato Soup just aint going to kick it for too much longer

Well this is my second day in the pre op stage and the most i have had to deal with is the serious wanting ot eat for no good reason. My wife has me set up and has been absolutely wonderful making me stick to everything as I should. There is no real big pain just some major discomfort which dwindles day by day. I am going to try and keep busy today, because I amnot one to just sit around, that is how I got here. So I am going to go dust off my canvas and paints and see what happens. Everyone said it is much easier after the Surgery, Well they were right. All you have to do is make it to the date of your Surgery, It is so wild that a 1/4 cup of broth can fill you up and make you feel like thanksgiving. Oh What a beautiful thing. Well I am off to prep for painting, I will check back with you guys later. Oh one more thing After the surgery look into Isopure shakes, My wife found them and they have more Protein and Vitamins with less shake, they are absolutely great for the energy you will need. you can mis with Water or milk, water is easier to drink post op, but the milk taste reallly good
-
I would like to suggest ISOPURE shakes that have more pretein than myoplex and taste great with milk. the big plus is that they help to keep that full sensation.

Started my 2 week pre op diet yesterday
MJK Media replied to MJK Media's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
True So true, Thanks for your replies! I am definately having Carb withdrawls and just regular food withdrawls. its almost like I miss the food passing over the mouth. My body yearns for it bad! but so far I have been able to maintain, if it gets real bad I chew some gum and then when the flashes of hunger come maybe a fruit. But so far I have passed two serious tests of Office cinnamon rolls and Kolaches... AHHHHHH! it burns us! sorry talking about it still hurts a little. I think I am going to call my Dr and make sure he wants me on veggie and shakes only for the first two weeks. I will say that reeally opening up and talking about what I am realizing helps , it is alkmost scary to realize how much of an addiction Ihave to food. In the name of Jesus I move on. -
Well I started my 2 week Pre Op diet yesterday and between my wifes creative genius and keeping busy it has started out better than I can imagine. I am battling the habitual eating issues now even in the second day. For you pro's out there was there anything that helped you get through this preop diet?
