  1. Hello, I am on here because I recently had the Lap Band. Just 4 days ago. Im doing awesome. I have a few questions in regards to the diet as of now...the liquid diet. Im not sure if im suppose to be only eating like the broth and jello 3 times a day or does the 3 times a day rule come into play like after the 2nd week when you start to add the pureed consistancy foods. I feel fine. I think the majority of the inital pain was definatly the gas and the swelling. The gas was brutial. I was very glad that I was expecting this. If not I would have thought I was having a heart attack. WALK WALK WALK...that is definately what I reccommend, the walking really does help. Once I finally got to my house and walked up stairs, that really helped release some gas. I would strongly suggest if you have steps near to use them, if not use the hospital steps before your discharged. I am going to strongly testify that walking really got me thru this. I have 4 co-workers that also have been banded so I got lots of advice from them. I believe this issue was their worst. Day 3 for me, I was having bm's I never had to use a laxitive. Day 4 so far, the swelling as gone down and im not near as sore. Day 3, I could really feel the incisions that was the majority of my pain. I also had more energy and it was hard to stay in bed, I was getting bored. I had my shower yesterday and it definately tired me out. After that it was very easy to stay in bed. Im just so glad that I did this and cant wait to start exercising to get this moving. Im still unclear about the first two weeks...if Im suppose to be like eating the broth 3 times a day, or is the 3 time a day rule kinda like ignored during this period since its all liquids?? I need to find that answer out. I dont want to stretch anything out. I havent been wanting to call the doctor since its the weekend. I suppose I like to be as low maintaince as possible. Well thats my story in a nut shell!!

  3. What a sensitive situation. Yes I know its hard to swallow, no pun intended, that people may be talking about you behind your back. I just had the surgery last Thursday, 2/19. I work in a huge office about 300 people. I am a social butterfly and people know me and notice when I am gone. I had a back problem and one of my friends said she was going to start saying I had herpes if I didnt get back because there were so many people, that were asking her where I was. I completely freaked out, knowing this surgery was coming. I also, didnt want to tell anyone, I wanted to just kinda disappear for a few weeks, come back in and I was going to say I had my appendix removed or something. Funny isnt it. The irony of making up another surgery to cover this one. I decided that I was just not going to openly tell, but the people that came up to me and asked or contacted me I would just tell them. So far, Im pretty sure that everyone knows. Because people do talk truth in life, even your "friends", they share with other close friends. Its all in good nature generally. From the few that did know, Im ok with it now. I decided that if anyone has a problem that they can go ahead and talk about it. Ignorance is in the world, something, being overweight Im sure you have dealt with in your past. I know I have. Just remember very soon there will be something else in the office going on that will overshadow your surgery. Just remember you are doing this for yourself. Some good words to remember, a nurse while was in the hospital told me, The people that talked about you when you were big are going to be the first ones to talk about you when you loose the weight. They are ALWAYS goign to talk... Whats important is if your happy!!
