  1. i AM 3 DAYS INTO A 5 DAY PRE-OP DIET THAT CONSISTS OF 6 CUPS OF SKIM MILK WITH SUGAR FREE INSTANT BREAKFAST MIXED IN. THE CLOSEST I HAVE COME SO FAR TO CHEATING IS I CHEWED UP A PIECE OF PORK ROAST BUT DID NOT SWALLOW IT. i TOOK IT OUT OF MY MOUTH AND GAVE IT TO THE DOG. I WILL BE BANDED ON TUESDAY THE 27TH. LET'S JUST GET THE FIRST MONTH OVER WITH.
  2. I too will be banded on the 27th!!! I'm excited and scared too. I have only told a few trusted people at work. The rest I don't trust not to make fun of me. After I start to lose weight I may tell more people but as of right not NO. I have told my family - they are very supportive.
  3. I just received the news that my insurance approved my surgery. I will be banded Jan 27th. Yeah!!! I was really worried because I gained weight over the holidays (7lbs). My dietician said that I could have jepordized everything but I guess it was okay.

    January '09 banders

I just received my tentative date (assuming insurance approval). It's Jan 27th. I've gone thru 6 months of dietician apointments, a sleep study, and psych eval, now I'm ready. It's very exciting!!
  6. Gina, I go to see my surgeon tomorrow morning to set my date. I really getting nervous.

  7. WOW!! What an inspiration! I will be banded the end of jan 09 and plan to do well this year.

  8. I am planning to be banded in late Jan early Feb in Chambersburg Hospital. Has anyone else been banded there?
  9. How long should I expect to be off work after banding? I was hoping for 2-3 weeks. I don't want to go back to work on liquids. I am a nurse who works on a very busy unit and don"t always get breaks on a regular schedule.

    $82, 000 LapBand Bill

I would be more concerned about why my spleen was bleeding during surgery than how much it cost. Did your surgeon nick the spleen during the procedure? A bleeding spleen quickly becomes an emergency.
  11. What is a fatty liver pre-op diet and why wold I need one?

    2009 Bandsters?

I have had my 5th of 7 visits with my dietitian and will be meeting with my surgeon on jan 5th. we will set a date then and seek approval from my insurance co. I have been assured that it should be no problem and will look to the end of jan beg of feb 2009 as my date. getting anxious!!!!
  13. I plan to say nothing to my coworkers unless they ask me point blank. I don't trust some of them not to make crude comments (behind my back, of course). As a nurse my work schedule changes from week to week and I don't see the same people everyday or eat at the same time each day. Perhaps, after my surgery, I will feel differently.
  14. Hi, I added a photo album. This site is very good. See you at work. Kathi

  21. My surgeon's office took care of setting me up with a dietitian for six months of visits. I have to track everything that i eat, do meal planning, set monthly goals, learn new eating habits ( the hardest was giving up my daily beer), I weigh in at each visit and we review the previous month's food diary, set new goals, and do some post lapband nutrition counseling. I'm pretty happy with the program but it's very hard to follow a nutritious meal plan. If I could do that I wouldn't need a lap band.
  22. I am statring my 5th month on a supervised diet. I've gone from 226 to 212 lbs. I am finding it very hard to control my eating. part of the allure of lap banding for me is to limit the amount of food I can put in my stomach. I lose a few pounds then gain some back then lose a few more. This 6 month period is very stressful esp. when it gets close to the monthly weigh in day (Dec 30 this month).
  23. Hi, I just learned about this site from a friend at work. I am planning on having lapband surgery in the beginning of February. I am very excited. I just started my 5th month of preband dietitian appointments and will meet with my surgeon on Jan 5. I hope to meet many new people with similar interests on this site. Kathi :tt1:

    New to the Site

Junior, I bought a book called "Eating well after weight loss surgery" that has recipies that can be adapted for all stages of weight loss or just to feed your family. This way you don't have to prepare special meals for you. It has quite a few recipies that I will be willing to try as well as tips on cooking and pantry stocking.
