    Slipped Band

I was banded in feb 2009 and my band just slipped. I went in hospital june 1 and had it removed and put back. Took all the Fluid out and in had a fill a few weeks ago. I did my fair share of throwing up and sliming. I've had heartburn and aid reflux several times when I was to tight. As soon as they took some out I was fine, didn't have it again. When my band slipped I couldn't eat or drink, keep nothing down. When i tried to drink a lot it caused so much pain around my rib cage. When they did the upper gi they found no food could go through the band, When i tried to drink it made it worse. I would suggest if you are in a alot of pain, have your DR order upper GI when you drink that white liquid they can see what is going on. I"m thankful I had that done. Good luck to you! Meri
  5. glad you are doing well. I haven't been online in awhile. just off and on briefly. Emailed a few people as well to see how everyone is doing as well. I have been banded since Feb 09. I"ve had my share of trouble off and on, throwing up, slimming and a few months ago had to go into hospital because they found out my band slipped. Its been 2 months since they removed it and put it back. I"m better, no pain and I can eat pretty much everything. Don't have the restriction I would like but have only have had 1 fill so far. I'm hoping in another month I can have another one. I was only able to tolerate before up to 6cc so not sure what this time around is going to be like. I started at 236 in 2009 and before my slip i was 149. I"m back up to 168 and hope to get to 130 in the next year. I'm still very hungry and I can eat alot at one time. I feel my stomach in puffy not able to get it to go down. I hope that weight gain didn't go all to my stomach, but its looking that way. Wish me luck going to try to get on the weightloss wagon again. Good luck to you and feel free to write me back. Alll the Best Meri
  6. No worries, just walk, walk walk and take the gas x. You won't feel like getting out of the bed for a few hours but just think how good you will feel once you do. Mind over matter! You can do it girl! Keep positive! You can do it! I"m here if you need anything! This website and these people were great when I first had my surgery!
  7. I'm sorry to hear you aren't losing. I was banded on feb 25 and i've lost 70lbs so far. I've had 2 fills, the second one was to much and i had to get some removed but just went for 3 month check up last week and she had to take more out since I started getting acid reflux for over a month. I was way to tight, I dont have acid reflux anymore. I was to tight and tried to ignore all the signs. I"m pretty happy with my progress so far. I just need to exercise to get tone. That is so strange you haven't lost any. Are you sure you are eating the right foods? I had my share of bad foods but cutting my portions helped me lose the weight. Good luck to you! Let me know if you have any other questions.
  8. Hi Meri,

it has been two weeks since my surgery and i'm feeling great!! I have been on mushies since day 9 as everything was going through me, so the dietician thought if i ate it would help and it did. The only thing that worries me now is i seem to be getting my hunger back. This is the menu they told me to follow...I eat 2 weet-bix (or oats) for brekky, 1/4 cup of purree fruit and a 1/4 cup of low fat yogurt for morning tea. Half a cup of blended meat and veg for lunch and again at dinner, 1/4 cup puree fruit and a diet dairy dessert for afternoon tea and same as morning tea for supper. Plus coffee and water through the day. Not to bad. Except this week i think if i'm lucky i will only have lost 1kg (2.2lbs) So as much as i love the fact i can eat... i would like to be loosing a bit more weight. Maybe they will give me a fill by week 4... I think they told me they like us to be able to eat normally be for they start doing fills. i see the dietician in another week.

  9. hey merisue, am doing ok. no problem. add me as ur friend

hope u are doing well too.

  10. Hi Kity, I'm sorry your not losing any weight. Are you on just liquids? I"m on soft foods and I"m still losing weight slowly. You want to lose it slowly. Make sure you are eating low cal and don't over do it. My incision that was leaking has stoppd today, thank goodness. No diarreha since I stopped the grape juice and waiting 1 hour to drink anything. Hopefully things will work out now when i go back to work on wednesday. Good Luck! I"m sure things will turn around for you very soon.
  11. Hi Trace,

So nice to hear from you. I'm doing ok, lost 10 lbs so far and I had my band put on Feb 25. I'm happy with that, but of course I want more. The protein shake i'm not crazy about it but I know I have to drink them. I use sugar free choc syrup with the vanilla and fat free milk, instead of water. Mix with ice and its not that bad. Wishing you all the best on your surgery. Please stay in touch and make sure you take the Gas x and make your self walk around the house in order to get rid of the gas. Heating pad works well good too. I'm on soft foods thank goodness and in another week hope to be on regular diet. I get my first fill April 3. Hope to talk soon.

    All the Best

    Meri

  12. Its been 12 days since i've been banded. I'm in no pain from the incisions but I am still having diarreha and one side of my main incision is still leaking. Anyone having those issues? The doctor says its normal but my bandage is pretty soaked by the end of the day. My doctor let me go to soft foods. I had turkey burger boiled all day in the crock pot and putting mashed potatoes with it. Tasted delicious and went down fine. I cooked a chicken breast in the broth all day and mashed that also but didn't go down so good. Kind of got stuck for a minute, didn't like the chest pain. Won't be eating that again. Where my port is there is lump as well. I asked my doctor and it will go down. I'm hungry every hour or so but I will eat just a bite of yogurt, pudding or popcycle, i also will drink a cup of decaf tea. You can mix it up a little with a vanilla Protein shake made with skim milk or Water, add ice and a little bannana and sugar free chocolate syrup. Taste pretty good. You can also use canned fruit in its own juice. Hope everyone has a good week. I"m going back to work tomorrow, hope I can get through the day without having to run to the bathroom, which is across the building from my desk! Wish me luck. Thank you for sharing and helping me through this!
  13. hello Merri,

How u doing? We r almost there!!! Good Luck!!!!!!!!!! How r ur nerves? Did u do the shake diet? If so have u lost any weight? It's hard to tell for me cause i am constantly filled with liquid, lol. But i think i have lost almost 4kg (which is around 8lb) I will update my ticker the morning of my surgery or the day before surgery (which is tomorrow) Loosing a bit just helps me to feel like i am on my way especially as i have so far to go.

can't wait to hear hopw u r going

    4 days banded

Awesome! Congrats. You said you drank gingerale. Not good according to my doctor. Not supposed to drink any carbination for a long time. Causes problems with the band they say, stretching i forget what else. Yes you can let it go flat but they still don't want you to drink it. We are at the begining stages we have to be strong and do what they tell us, no matter how hard. It is so hard for me today, i really want real food, i thought about blending it in blender but they said no and no for a reason. Its good having this website to discuss. Good luck to you!
