  1. Welcome back Suefee, take it easy for a while now, hope your not too sore and will look forward to your report.
  2. Take extra t bags and large mug with you to belgium they only have tiny plastic cups, windeze gels sweets are good and I used these post op. If you do use the hospital dispersable tabs they give you to come home disolve them in quite hot water and allow to cool, they are much better than if you try to take them fizzy with cold water. I also took sachets of drinking choc (options ). I would also buy at least 2X 1 ltr bottles of still water after you have passed through customs this side and take these onto the ward with you. You may need extra bed pillows after the op the room maid will get them for you but it may be better to get them before your op just in case.
  3. woop woop, 4lbs lost since last week taking me to my 1st stone weight loss in total, not a lot I know by most people standards but a lot for me and a new bmi of 33, I'm really pleased with my band., so this week I'll call her 'good Girl'
  4. Hi Homecare just e.mail Fred with you flight number and time of arrival, then when you arrive outside of the arrivals bay look for the blue and green logo for ecfs you taxi driver will be waiting there for you holding the sign up, he will speak English so no worries there, the taxi rank is just outside the doors, he will know exactly where to take you he's more of a chauffer than a taxi driver and the cars are lovely and large with leather interior. I would also e.mail Fred your departure details also so that he has them on record. The next Morning the day of the op go to reception within the hotel and your taxi will meet you there, the driver will know your room number,so that you wont get mixed up with anyone else, again he will know exactly when to take you. Communication is a bit slack but the arrangements always work without a hitch.
  5. Hi Mandyfielding, I also didnt loose much weight after the op only a few lbs, and found not much had changed, I could eat everything I wanted and more or less at the same volume as I could pre op. But things will change when you get an adequate level of fill, this may not be on your first or second but if you keep up with regular appointments they will find the right level for you. It took a while for me with hardly any weight loss until my second fill, where I lost 10lb and now I've just had my 3rd fill taking me to 6ml, and I know it will have some effect and I will loose some weight I dont know how much I will loose before my next fill or even when my next fill will be that will depend on how long the restriction lasts, and when I stop loosing weight. What I do know is that if I dont have the fills I wont loose the weight, so its up to me to ensure I keep up to date with them. Dont be disheartened it may be a slower precess for you as it is with me, plus if you bmi is'nt that high say 35 and under it will be slower, but you will make it work for you when the fills are at a good level for you. Hope this helps, I wish I had a magic wand I use it on myself first then pass it around so that we could all have a share ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,, But perhaps a would'nt give it to Gary until he posts pics of him in his speedos :frown:
  6. All the best suefee, I will be thinking about you, looking forward to hearing about your experience.
  7. Well if it does I'll send mine over to you for a few lessons on being kind to its owner, and not to be such a moody moo ohh now that could be a good name I'm still thinking on it tho
  8. Fab name for you band Gillian -HERO So we now have Halo and Hero, all very friendly and positive so far, mine is still being tempramental, so a name has'nt yet come to mind, any more suggestions for the 'name your band' group
  9. Oh its not so bad, 1 week away and only put on 1lb, so quite relieved. Tomorrow I get a fill with Chris Deprez, so hopefully the weight wil start to shift again. Who was it that called their band halo, thats a fab name, wish I'd though of that :crying: still thinking on mine. Anyway, more good news when I was away, my daughter had her 20 week scan all was well and growth was normal, they were able to tell her its a girl, so we are all really excited now and buying pink and white frilly things.
  10. Hi everyone I've just got back from my hide-away in France I've got so much to read to catch up with all posts, but I'll try my best tomorrow, when I'm out of touch with you all its like I'm missing one of my best friends. I'll weigh in the morning and report the good or bad news. xxxmmmxxx
  11. I took it in cash euros, I also researched the best exchange rates, the best I could get was with crown currency exchange. What is the problem in taking cash you can put it in a money belt and its safely attached to you. There is no problems the other side cos Frederick collects it from you the first day.
  12. crown currency were offering the best rate when I went last Feb, but the earlier you order it the better the rate you get, it arrives by recorded delivery, I use them quite a lot as I need to pay large amounts regularly in euros
  13. congrats its really happening now woop woop. fred did'nt automatically acknowledge my payment but i sent him an e.mail the day i sent the deposit, and emailed him 1 week later to confirm the payment had been received and he confirmed by return
  14. Premiums on insurance are very expensive if you mention medical anything --but if you want to apply for the usual travel insurance and have to make a claim you could just say you were sight seeing for 3 days (bit of a white lie but there is no proof of any other activity as far as they are concerned, and they probably wont cover much cash anyway) I only had hand luggage which I kept close to me so did'nt bother with insurance, some bank accounts have inclusive travel insurance yours might also, or the flight operator might be able to give you some basic cover if you think it necessary, personally I wouldnt bother.
  15. Hi Gillian, I doing just fine, the restriction I had is wearing off now, I went to the small holders show in Builth Wells last weekend which is usually food filled all inclusive, and Judges and stewards are really well looked after, but I am pleased that I did'nt put anything on, so for the last week my weight has stayed the same, which is ok I guess. I'm going to France tonight for 1 week and hopefully wont put any more weight on, not like the first time when I put on 7lb,, I'm hoping it'll be more like the second week I had there where I lost 2lb, But that was just after my last fill. So even if I stay the same weight it'll be a blessing. As for my daughter, she is doing well, shes 18weeks now, and due for her 3rd scan next week when I'm away, she might be able to see what she's having, so I might be reporting girl or boy next time I'm on here. Sian has'nt put on any weight yet but is being closely monitored by her band surgeon, as well as with the maternity hospital, and is having at least 3 extra scans to check on progress. So far all is as it should be. My next fill is at the end of the month, I'll be flying home on Wed and being filled on Friday, so fingers crossed things should start moving again. THOUGHT FOR THE DAY _ whats your band going to be named:, I think mine is going to be called skinney, but I'm also toying with cantankerous. Lets have your names everone. See who has the best.
  16. So pleased you found the video useful, miss flump was a regular on here around xmas time, and I found her posts very informative, if you go to past posts of around that time you will find that she is a school teacher and a lot of her info is useful. happy reading. mmm
  17. Congrats wishfull welcome to my world by being a banded granny
  18. To update your ticker just click onto the www.ticker part of the writing on your own ticker it will take you to the ticker site you input your pin and just alter your weight when you've done it the ticker will be automatically updated. I'm rubbish with computers and it even worked for me.
  19. No your not likely to have a dodgy one, but you do want one that is experienced in the proceedures you want, its no point in having a hand or eye surgeon if you want a boob job or a boob surgeon if you want a tt, just cos they are qualified as a plastic surgeon does'nt mean they are experienced, google surgeon name and look on sites such as this but for plastic surgeons, see what you can find out for the proceedures you want. What did freddy boy suggest?
  20. I've a sweet tooth so I choose custard, or muller light type yogs (i was naughty and put grated choc on mine) and rice pudding with jam
  21. Hi flirty, Spire Cardiff is excellent my daughter had her band done there, plus my cousin has had eyes lift and face lift done last week, plus my mother is due to have face, eyes, and chin augmentation in June, the surgeon being Dai Davies. The care is supurb, however you must find out which surgeon has been quoted for you, and research him/her, as there are quite a lot who could carry out your op. When you have the name of the surgeon you might find he will carry out the op in several different venues and the same op is often at different prices, depending these locations. The surgeon only rents surgery times and theatre times within spire, and therefore are not necessarily all at the same standard or experience, in fact spire aften offer several surgeons to choose from if you ask them. Hope this helps. You might like to consider paying for a local consultation via your Gp just to see if what you want is possible, and to get a firm quote before considering prices
  22. Jackie, you might want to look at Heathrow to Brussells with BMI it cost me less than £140 return for two people, and the times are great.
  23. If you go onto utube and search miss flump she has posted a video of both the hotel and hospital and her journey post op. The hotel is comfortable with good beds but is very basic more like a travel lodge with restaurant, hope this helps
  24. The E1111 has now been replaced by a European Health Insurance Card, health related travel advise can be obtained at www.dh.gov.uk/travellers or on +44(0)2072104850, I'm not convinced that you are covered because you will be travelling for elective surgery, but you can find out more info just to be sure.
  25. Hi Jackie, if you got a print out of the letter CDB sent you take it along to your GP ask for their help, and also go onto the NHS wait list, they will sometimes do the op even if you've a higher BMI. Also ask doctors if they can provide meal replacements similar to cambridge diet/lighter life, nag nag nag them you've made the decision now so dont loose motivation just use everyone and anything you can to help you carry out your plan. Good luck. whatever you decide this thread will keep you motivated so keep in touch. Also pm Gary he's a fab guy and has been in your possition, and CDB kept his word with him.
