Hi Greek Lady Congratulations on your op and weight loss - and Merry Christmas! Things I ate in the first couple of weeks were mainly soup, yoghurt, jelly, custard, slimfast/complan. Drink TONS of Water. I used to make up a litre bottle of water and put a Berocca tablet in it to a) give it a bit of flavour and also give me a bit of energy and to get some extra Vitamins as well. I also used to add a wee drop of Floradix (liquid iron) to the bottle and dash of fresh orange juice (to help with the constipation). I would then sip all morning at this to help with the hydration and hunger. The first couple of weeks passes very quickly and you'll soon be able to introduce other stuff. I am now eating pretty much normal food and I was banded on 4th December. I had a "normal" Christmas dinner today - just a tiny portion of it, ie one slice of turkey, teaspoonfull of mashed potatoe, 1 brussel sprout and a couple of slices of carrot. I then had some jelly and ice cream. You'll get there!

Hi Jinkles I found the first 2-3 days of the pre-op diet REALLY hard. The cravings were awful but I got through it by keeping really busy, drinking LOTS of Water and going to bed early. After a few days the cravings lessened and I started to feel really good and had loads more energy. I just kept hearing the words of the nurse in my head about how you HAD to do this diet "if the surgeon goes in there and your liver hasn't shrunk then he'll just come right back out again and won't do the op". I thought there is no way I want that to happen. When the surgeon came to check on me after the op he said I had a "lovely liver" ! :tongue_smilie: Good luck for 2nd Jan Jingles, let us know how you get on. -
Hi everyone I had my band fitted on 4th December and felt fantastic, if a little tired since. I started to feel great about one week into the pre-op diet and I knew that having cut out all the crap from my diet had a really positive effect on my energy level and attitude towards food. Anyway, I went for my first check up and weigh in yesterday and since I started my pre-op diet on 18th November I've lost 22lb! I'm so delighted. I dug out an old pair of size 20 trousers out of the wardrobe today and THEY FITTED! What a fantastic feeling having been a size 24 for a looooong time. I know that this immediate post-op euphoria is temporary and one of my "highs" and I'm bound to have lows too. Hopefully you guys will all be here to gee me up through the lows as well but I just wanted to let you all know how happy I am today!

Thanks Maincat for your kind words and yes indeed Edinburgh is a beautiful city - especially at this time of year. I'm definitely feeling the desire to exercise which I haven't felt for a long time so that's positive. I don't quite have the physical energy yet as I've only just progressed to the "slop" diet and upping my calories a little. Have also been working nearly every day since four days post-op so am pretty exhausted. My work schedule will drop considerably in the New Year though so I plan to start then when hopefully Santa will have brought me a bike! -
O.M.G I must be getting fit !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hey, you're entitled to bragg BgB! Well done you. I am at a stage now when I feel DESPERATE to start taking some exercise but my energy levels won't allow. Have only just come off the liquid diet. My head says GOGOGO but my body's still saying SLOWSLOWSLOW!! LOL. -
Keving, your story is inspirational, well done! I read your earlier posts in this thread and could relate to a lot of what you said and am hoping I am going to remain as positive as you as I feel very similar. Had my first weigh in post-op yesterday and have lost 22lbs which feels fantastic. Guess I better go figure out how to do one of them ticker thingies!

Well I was given a card with C2U's details on it by Lorna one of the nurses, last week and was told that she is running/hoping to run a group - C2U can you elighten us please? You've got at least three of us now so that constitutes a group! JB, I'm just down the road from Newtongrange, I work very erratic hours as am self employed but would love to get together maybe in the new year. I'll PM you my number. -
Hi Dundeedawn. I'm also in Edinburgh and just had my band fitted last Thursday (4th Dec). I just checked my stuff I have from Spire Murrayfield and if you didn't have your band fitted there then the cost IS £300 for a consultation/band fill (eeek!). Hi Sadie - wow! well done on your weight loss, that's fantastic!. I believe there is a support group in Edinburgh, is it bit far for you to travel Dawn?

Hey JB, thanks for that, that sounds great. I'm sure these things are much easier with support from others going through the process. I'm not far from you in Mid Lothian. Do you attend the support group run by Cavalier2us? I've not been to any yet but hope to make it along to the next one - any idea when it is? -

Hi there I had my op done last Thursday at Spire Murrayfield in Edinburgh by Mr Tulloh and I have to say the care from all involved was fantastic. I was VERY apprehensive beforehand, particulary as I work in the medical profession (case of knowing too much!) but everyone was fantastic and very professional. I self-funded and yes, it's expensive but what price health? We've foregone buying a new car for the next few years so I could have this. I met Cavalier2us at the open day at Murrayfield earlier this year and was really impressed with the results she'd had so it was part of my decision to finally go through with it. The recovery has been much quicker so far than I imagined and I returned to work 3 days later. God I'm fed up with slimfast already though! lol
