A-wenz :scared2: I'd definitely be interested in meeting someplace in addition to the monthly meeting.... Anyone else? I'm in Aurora, but certainly willing to drive a bit to meet. Hope all is well! -

Woo Hoo! Congratulations on your loss! You should be very proud of yourself, what an accomplishment! Don't you just LOVE your band?! But, it's not just the band. YOU did it! The band wouldn't work without YOUR efforts! Great job!!! -
Since Banding I've Lost .... A Bunch of Eggs
T-bonz replied to RobinAnn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I've lost: The amount of cheese an average American eats in a year AND a human head! Talk about putting it into perspective! Thanks for this post, those equivalents are great!!! -
Carbgrl, I'm in the same boat as you are this weekend. I had a 0.5 cc fill on Friday, able to swallow H2O fine at the Dr.'s office. I'm up to 5cc in 10cc band, this was my 3rd fill. Saturday AM, tight. All day, tight. 8pm, able to eat (swallow) tomato Soup just fine, also drank 40 oz of Water before I went to bed. This morning, tight again! Eek! I'm going to see how it goes today and tomorrow. I'm hoping that it's just a little swelling and will calm down. I've also read that some people are tighter in the mornings, maybe that's part of it, too? I know how you're feeling, it'll get better. If not, both of us might be going for an unfill. Good luck! Congratulations on your success so far! It sounds like you have made the adjustment to the new lifestyle that the band brings. I really like the message that your last sentence portrays, "It doesn't matter how we get to the goal just as long as we arrive safe, healthy and most of all HAPPY." It is so important to maintain a positive attitude as we go through all of this. I wish you all the best during the rest of your journey  T-bonz

Teresa, Thank you for leading the group...it went really well! It was wonderful to hear so many ideas and tips from everyone Also, you were great with keeping everyone on track and participating...excellent job! Your stories and examples were very touching, especially about your son. Thank him for all he has done for us to keep us safe. For me, with the Vitamins...I take a few other pills in the AM. The vitamins have just become a part of those...as soon as I get up I drink some H2O, take the pills and vitamins and wait a bit before eating. Then, in the evening I take the vitamins again right before brushing my teeth. What helps me to remember is having the Vitamin bottles out in the bathroom so that they are visible. It's already become a habit to take 'em, whereas I never took vitamins before. I bought 'em, but never took 'em! Will definitely see you next month at the support group and glad you found LapBandTalk. T-bonz aka Tommye -
Starbucks Coffee Anyone?
T-bonz replied to hopeful41411's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I'm a total Starbucks fiend! The surgery has put a little bit of a cramp in my style, but I have found something that I like...with NO calories. I'm not a fan of their regular coffee...it's too strong for me, so I get a TALL iced Americano (2 shots of espresso with Water and ice) but I ask for it in a VENTI cup, that way, it's diluted with more water and ice. Add a few splenda and it's a perfect iced coffee. If you order it that way, you could ask for room and add some skim milk if you'd like. I have found that with a tall in a venti cup, it's a nice mild iced coffee. Be sure to tell them to fill the rest of the cup with ice and water, otherwise, they'll give you a venti cup that is half full  That's my latest favorite. I'm sure you could use some sugar free syrup in it, too Enjoy! -
Good for you! You'll be there soon, for sure!! Great job with the band! :tongue2:

Addelapp5, That must be SOME roast beef! I like the comparison to other roast beef! I'll have to try it. This, coming from the girl who hasn't eaten red meat for 17 years...yes, 17 years. Was banded June 1st and had BEEF Jerky last week. Mmmm....it was good! Thanks for the tip on the Whole Foods deli meats

ParrotheadCathy, Wow, you have had a great loss so far! What are your favorite Protein sources? In the 4 1/2 months, have you eaten many of the whole grain carbs? I've been banded since June 1st and have really just been eating protein: ground turkey, boca burgers, cottage cheese. I have had fruit a few times, and veggies only once. I'm sure as I progress I'll be able to eat more veggies, but wonder about the carbs. I can't say I miss them, which, I suppose is a good thing! I feel like I have a lot more energy since being banded and I do believe it has to do with the lower amount of sugar in my diet. Keep up your great work, I hope to have such success! T-bonz
