    I am gonna do it!!

my experience with insurance was good. i found out in novemeber that my employer was going to start covering WLS starting jan1. so from november to feb 3rd, the day I got my band, i completed all the testing. even through the holidays i had an ultrasound of the gallbladder, an EGD,my psychological testing, a seminar, and met with the surgeon, dietician, etc. I was busy, but I was determined to get it done ASAP. good luck but push the office to help you complete your steps quickly instead of dragging it out.peggy

  3. I am also thankful for all of the information and support from each of you . I get my first fill on March 13th so I am pouring over all this new info trying to educate myself as much as possible. I hope I get some restriction as I have none that I can tell and I am feeling hungry on 1000-1200 calories per day. Doing ok,but have this constant tiger growling in my gut!

2 weeks post op and nausea

abby, how much protein and liquids are you taking in? i am also two weeks out, i have been eating well over 60-80 gm of protein and over 70cc liquids. i advanced to ground meat, fish etc already and am doing fine. i do write everything in a daily notebook to keep track, including calories. try that to see how much you are actually taking. that way you can show your dietician. i had no nausea whatsoever, so i guess i am lucky.good luck, peggy

new admission to 100 lb club

hello hundred hotties and hunks. i am new to this club and i have a whole human to lose. i am two weeks post op, i was allowed soft foods after week one. i have faithfully stayed around 1000 cal ,ate all of my protein plus, taking at least 64 oz of fluid per day. i followed my protein diet faithfully for two weeks. with that said, i got on the scale at the gym today, and it was exactly the #!!?ing same as the day i had surgery. i am so pissed i cannot see straight! help help help!i am ready to cry. i am going to the gym and doing some cardio and leg weights. i was told no core or arm weights until seen by the surgeon. help or shoot me.peg

    Exercise

i am two weeks post op. i am very hungry but sticking with the plan. i am keeping my calories less than 1000 per day but i seriously lack energy. i have been told by other banders to increase my cal to 1200. my dietician, who is new to the job, told me i should not be able to eat 1000 to 1200 calories until six months!! i think she is smoking crack! i honestly believe she is talking post fill. i hope so. i depend on the help of fellow banditos to guide me through this learning process. right now i am going to go to the gym( as i have planned all day), but after reading your journal, i am getting off my arse to go now. see ya! peggy
  16. i was banded on 2/3. i was allowed to start mushies one week out and have had no problems at all. i have not tested it, but i feel no restriction eating canned chicken with light mayo, cottage cheese, tomato soup,etc.. i actually ate a lean burger with cheese last night. no bun, just chewed it slowly and thoroughly. i did great and felt fine. i have stayed well under 1ooo cal and using the unjury chicken soup and fruit punch protein bullets, i am able to get 60 to 80 gms of protein in. i hope i am doing it right.peg
  17. Linda, I am 9 days post op. I also wish I had conquered my weight before resorting to surgery. But the fact is, I did not. I do not feel as bummed as you seem, but I am anxious that I am not going to lose. I am allowed soft mushy food on day seven , so it gets better. every once in a while I think about a favorite food I would like to dive into, and since I have very little restriction until my first fill, I get tempted. However,I cannot fail . I would only be cheating myself and this is my one chance to use this tool to succeed. We can do it!! We can help each other. I admit, I feel a little lonely around my skinny friends, but I got myself here and I can get myself out!! Keep in touch.Peggy

Three days post op and full of gas

i am 5 days out and the gas definately is less the more I walk. I went to the park with my dog and walked 1.5 miles and feel pretty good. I do not have any sutures at all. My largest incision is about three inches over the port. The rest are about 1/2 inch. As for the burping, my kids are a little bummed as I seemed to be a champion burper in their eyes...you know, the person who can suck in a ton of air into their stomach and entertain others. (sorry, i never said I was mature!) Those days are over, but THAT I can deal with! Good luck! Peggy

    Question - just had surgery

Yes, I swelled like a tick on an old dog! While in the hospital, I did not produce much urine,so, assuming I was "dry", I ended up getting a total of eight liters of IV fluids and only peed 400cc. I ended up getting a dose of IV Lasix to stimulate urine production, but based on the amount of swelling and bloating, I know I came home heavier. I did not weigh myself. No,I have no history of heart or kidney problems. It will come off,I pray !!!
  24. I got banded on feb 3rd. I was allowed to progress from clears to half full liquids on day three! I am allowed to start mushy stuff a week out. I only take Percocet to allow me to sleep and Aleve once in the morning, so I guess I am doing well. I took my dog for a walk today but had just gone to Sam's club with my kids and am a little tired. Mopped my floor and vacuumed today, drove yesterday. I am working on the protein and yesterday I got in 45 Gms, not too bad. The dietician told me to aim for 60 to 80 gm per day, but many sites said to concentrate on the fluids initially, that is vital. I added a plop of peanut butter and a banana to a choc protein drink to add calories and protein. I could only drink 4 oz at a time with no problems, so the whole thing ends up lasting a few feedings. Keep in touch. We can do this! Peg

    cream soups

i was also banded on 2-3 and i have to admit i am confused. the lap band web site talks about thin liquids for one to two weeks. my docs dietician allowed me to do half full liquids on post op day two. she said i can start mushy food after seven days. the web site is way different. i need help.peggy
