hair loss and old age lines!
txspatter replied to Tranquility's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
protein is key...but, you can add a vitamin called Biotin..get it at Walmart. I take 5000 whatever a day. Doesn't stop hair loss, but keeps hair growing. I'd guess it will take about 16 weeks to begin noticing a difference. Good luck with it...be patient. -
It took five fills to hit it....it will happen...congrats on tremendous loss...I've been stuck at 52...but, I'm healthy again...love the band.

Is this really worth it??
txspatter replied to MrsBerggren's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
It's life changing...if enjoying meals is the priority, I have to wonder why you chose any of them? We're here because of weight...no one said it would be easy. And, it's never over, even if/when you reach goal. Hope you can sort thru your frustrations. At least you'll be around longer with weight loss and can enjoy family. -
The lap band mind game!
txspatter replied to givempills's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I did something similkar. I've been plat'd for many weeks. However, I had health issues which were instantly resolved, so I'm patient now for the rest of it. Normal b/p (110/60), normal blood sugar and more. I have my life back and so pleased. But, you're correct..doesn';t seem to matter if I count cals, exercise or not...still hung. My surgery was March 12, 09..by first fill I had lost 41 pnds...to date, now...48...so, here's a friend in the same boat! If you'd care to 'buddy up'...let me know and I'll share my email with ya. -
The band has changed several things for me. Some things do taste different, things that do not appeal to me will not go down and meats have to be moist. I also have a strange new thing with sense of smell. Some seasons that I injest linger within my nasal cavaties...until mid-morning the next day. I still eat too fast and pay a severe penalty for that! But, it's all working the right way.

I totally agree. For fat folks in this life, weight loss and working for the rewards is NEVER ENDING. For those who reach a goal and take a sigh of relief that it's done...hang on...they're headed right back into the really fat, lazy, uncomfortable situation for the rest of their life. I've had great success, meaning all of my major health issues were resolved immediately. B/P, blood sugar, etc...however; although 51 pounds dropped rapidly, I've been 'trapped' in a void for the last four months. But...I am happy, healthy and I know the rest is going to disappear over time...over time...over time. The band is a tremendous helper, but it's not a magic cure. Our habits, food choices and all can take us right back into our misery and poor health. Be ware bandsters...it's not even over WHEN THE USED TO BE FAT LADY SINGS!!! Keep working!

10 CC band- How many CCs to get restriction?
txspatter replied to Leona06's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
My band is an 11 cc band. I go in today and get fourth fill. Currently at 7.5 cc...have been plateaued for several weeks after losing 46 prior to first fill. Mornings are tough for any food product, by evening, okay. However, any bite too big or overeating will cause food to pass my way again. sunday was a NO FOOD ALLOWED DAY. It was the worst day I've experienced. I feel strongly that life stressors definitely affect your ability to eat or not to eat...that is the question and my conclusion. lol -
question on pills!
txspatter replied to bobbiezhere's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was like you for a long time. Suddenly, I got tired of crushing and dissolving. I went on Bariatric Advantage site and ordered all of my Vitamins from there. Three are capsules and one is liquid...my b/p and blood sugar have been normal since the day after...no more of those meds for me; however, everything, I take normally, down the hatch. Even my two meds at night around 9 pm. Good luck, take 'em with a smile and be happy. I think you'll be surprised! -
First 10 days on liquids?
txspatter replied to commishnyse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Amen to Unjury and it's Protein Isolate not Protein whey...the isolate mixes great and medically, better for ya. The chocolate's good too. -
First 10 days on liquids?
txspatter replied to commishnyse's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I had small amounts of liquids as I felt the urge. I was also allowed the Campbell's Special Request or whatever the name is....soup. It was easy to use the small container that you stick in the microwave for a few seconds. Seemed the liquids just ran straight through. I dropped 17 pounds during the pre-op phase. And, was told not to worry about protein at that time...good luck. -
How the Lap-Band actually works, fills and refills
txspatter replied to Wendell Edwards's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
So glad to see your wisdom here this morning. I am guilty of the above stated! I've had 3 fills and have been locked with the same 3 pounds up and down. I lost 46 from pre-op until first fill and then, the Mind War set in. It can be cruel and cause one to question. Hoping fourth fill will really make the 2 pounds begin to fall each week. Glad they could do surgery on the tummy, but the mind is still the mind...old habits die hard and push me to the limits. :tongue2: -
Thinking about Lap Band but have questions
txspatter replied to carolyn22's topic in Tell Your Weight Loss Surgery Story
Your sleep ap is one of the 'qualifiers' the ins co looks at. I use a bipap with 3 liters of o2 every night...had b/p and diabetes type II, had experienced congestive heart failure back in '04 and more...My BMI was 47...Aetna had me diet under doctor's sup for six months and then approved me. It is the best thing I've ever done in my entire life. The day after surgery...b/p normal (yesterday at pharmacy it was 111/60) and blood sugar normal. When I reach goal weight my pulmonologist will put me in sleep lab again, but expecting I will be able to live without mask!! Go for it, pass GO and collect your$200 ....monopoly...that was the day! My BMI right now is 37...I was banded March 12, 09 and have dropped 46 pounds. -
Putting whey protein in a blender?
txspatter replied to isaviolinist's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
There are Protein Powders that are protein isolates...I use the Unjury product. It mixes well, is not affected by anything..except heat...not to be used in anything warm stuff over 130 degrees. Supposedly, the isolates are more beneficial medically than the whey. Dunno, but I just found the Unjury to agree with me and taste buds. You can even put a scoop of it in milk and stir with a spoon. It's cool.
