news i didn't pay much attention to until my doctor told me today
txspatter replied to MADE IT 2 MY GOAL..OH YEAH's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Stacy, congratulations! That's so neat. I had my first fill today and they put 5.5 cc's in because I had dropped an additional 20 pounds in the last 4 weeks. Boy, I could a big difference just getting 6 oz. of water down afterwards. I'm so glad the weight can come off at a good pace, still. My doc said now it would slow probably, but you're proof that's no necessarily so. Keep working and smiling. It is tremendous. My surgery was March 12th, 09 and I've lost a total of 43 pounds. I'm lovin' it! -

Sounds as though you're still on the same old merry go round...I want it; I eat it...I see it; I eat it...they say I can't;watch me do it. If that's the choice, then that's the choice, but you're missing a remarkable journey not abidig by the game rules. Improved health; more energy and all...why wouldn't you want that instead the same 'ol food that put ya there? Not said with malice , just thinking outloud.

HELP please!!! Feet gettin' awfully code less than 2 weeks b4 surgery
txspatter replied to hrtgoeson's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
If you need the band for future health, by all means, go for it and smile all the way. The surgery is less than hour and once it's done, you will begin to see pounds shed and you feel so great. Take your time, read more of the folks here and be confident in your decision. Once you are off soft foods, anything goes that your tummy will tolerate. My dinner tonight was 4oz. grilled steak, 4 ounces of fresh green beans with grilled portabella mushrooms. I have an old WW digital scale. I weight out my entire meal in that bowl, on the scale...8 oz and then eat. Tonight, only 5 ounces and I WAS FULL TO THE BRIM. But, it sure tasted good. About the caffeine and diet drinks and all...a major reason to stay away from them is band erosion and problems. Remember, you will have a band around the top of the tummy...respect it and play by the rules! -
39 pounds in 3 weeks
txspatter replied to sandibly's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Best wishes for a successful experience. It's a short process and you will probably be the one to experience slight or no pain! But, if there is a little pain, keep your eyes on the goal! -

5 month check in..should I be disappointed?
txspatter replied to perth bridetobe's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Well, I can understand disappointment! Do you wonder if there's a problem with your port??? Seems as though in six months you would be seeing bigger loss numbers. I was banded on March 12, 09 and am down 37 pounds. I focus on 70 grams of real protein and water, water, water. I hope you begin to see more evidence...I have a regular size 18 pant suit in the closet, was able to wear it after -30. I have a closet full of nice outfits that have been hanging for three years. That pumps me every day. I've also had normal blood sugar and blood pressure since the second day after!! I hope you find the real key to your weight and fly high with success. Hang in there! -
2nd Thoughts on surgery
txspatter replied to Oceannites's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was one of those with every condition looked at by Aetna prior to approving the surgery. Two days after the banding, my resting blood sugar each morning is in the 70's. My blood pressure is now like 112/62. My lungs are functioning far better (dyspnea...shortness of breath from secondary pulmonary hypertension of the lungs)...I've not had any b/p meds nor metformin (850 mgs. twice a day) since the morning before surgery!! I've lost 37 pounds and am fitting into a closet full of clothes that have been hanging for three years, slient! Banding is the best thing I've done for me in the past many years...and, there may be complications, I don't know...but to be getting the real me back and energy plus, again, I have no complaints. None of the surgeries are a magic cure. You still have to mind your manners and eat right, walk lots and push the protein daily. I read many articles here about folks who don't lose much or gain back a lot. I'm not perfect, but I have doubts that those individuals are eating right. The band is the one alteration that allows you to eat all foods again in life...if your tummy accepts it. Would I do it again, you betcha!! Should you do it? My mother used to say, "When in doubt, pitch it out..." It has to feel right for you, but don't listen to all the negatives, find the positives and throw them in the hopper to contemplate! -
1 month post op,, where were you at?
txspatter replied to wickedme's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on March 12, 09...had to do pre-op liquid for two weeks...I'm -35 pounds today. Blood sugar and blood pressure have been normal and below since two days out of surgery. I feel grea, am into clothes I haven't been able to wear for two or three years past! They're like new. I'm loving the band, not craving anything and have no desire to 'cheat' for any reason. Wish I had done this 10 years ago~ -
Needing to weigh in some happiness post surgery
txspatter replied to thejasgirl70's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am so sorry to read of all the events that have come your way in the past weeks! Just know that in the coming days, as you experience success with your surgery, the days will be brighter. Focus on you and take care of your needs..protein first...and watch the scale slip down. I was banded 16 days ago and I'm down 31 pounds. I lost 17 of those on the two week pre-op liquid phase. I can't describe the satisfaction of seeing a new me come out from all the fat that's been hangin' around for so many years. And, btw, your mom's cheering for you in a much brighter setting for her. I know she'll love watching the new you come out! Hang in there...time will help... -
Apnea and will NOT use Cpap
txspatter replied to Lady Lap Band's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I've used my Bipap machine and mask since March, 2004. Mine's a bipap because I have to bleed 3 liters of oxygen all night into my hose/mask. I had undiagnosed sleep apnea which led to secondary pulmonary hypertension of the lungs, enlarged right side heart and congestive heart failure. If you do not lose the weight and you refuse to use a machine, you have a bleak outlook ahead. Sleep apnea will getcha when you're not looking! Once you conquer the mask and learn to use it, it's almost difficult to sleep without it. I guess my question for you is...why have surgery, there's bound to be things about it once it's done that you don't wish to 'do'. If you really desire a change in your life, start working with the doctor now. Remember also, future meds have to be dissolved in water or come in liquid forms and they TASTE NASTY! But, I take the required stuff daily to avoid any problems down the road. Take it out of the box and try it...it's life changing and it will aide your efforts in weight loss. Good luck! -
who supports right to choose
txspatter replied to 396power's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
And I thought this site was related to Lap Band and such. When did it become a location for polls on totally unrelated surgery issues? Isn't there a face book spot or some more appropriate place for polls on 'issues?' Just curious. -
In all honesty (banded March 12th)...you're right, the trapped air does bring pain. However, the outcome of it all is worth the suffering. I'm sure it differs with everyone, but the air has to work it's way out of the body. Walk as much as you can and be strong...remember why you're doing this!

Then how about this? Try www.theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com You will be the happiest people in the world to see this gal's site...TOO TREMENDOUS!
-
And then sometimes we wonder...if not banded...why the big push on the site for one particular brand? Couldst there be some kind of 'connection' with the product/company? Just my curious grey matter at work. Matters not, I'm doing what I need to do and I am banded!!

My nutritionist from St. Luke's, Houston said Viactiv is very good. Guess it depends on their mood or mindset maybe. My surgeon also approves it...

5 day post-op dry gas heaving...
txspatter replied to mom2twoboysinfl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Wow! I can't even imagine the suffering with dry heaves!! Bless all of your hearts and tummies. I just had a little tomato soup, tasted wonderful...pushed a little gas out as well. -
I consider it 'referred' pain from the surgery...and gas! Walking up and down the hall has helped but here I sit right now with another bout of the back pain. I can't sleep due to it, either.

How do you get all of your protein in only two days out from surgery? I'm baffled!! -
5 day post-op dry gas heaving...
txspatter replied to mom2twoboysinfl's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
You need a back rub and you need to start walking. I'm walking the hall and around the dining room table, many times throughout the day. It has helped me. And, for the first time today, I could have soup again...AND THAT PUSHED SOME GAS OUT!! Good luck, gas pain is not kind!
