Hi Jen—welcome! I am Colleen also 29 from NY. I had surgery 4/5/07 and love everyday of my life since then. Best of luck to you!

I too have struggled since I had surgery (April 2007). I lost about 60 pounds and should probably lose another 40. I have been at this current weight (up and down the same 10 since Sept 2007). I also do not feel "full" although my band is as tight as it can be. I think that it is all mental and honestly, that is something that I never thought would come out of my mouth. At first I was extremely angry as I thought this band was supposed to "stop" me from eating too much. Sure, it did that to a point, however I also can eat normal food with slight restriction. I think that you should speak to your doctor's office and tell them how unhappy you are in regards to your appointments having to be rescheduled and the way that you feel in regards to your eating. Doctors and staff that are involved with the lap-band should be a support team to you, not someone that blows you off. Best of luck! Maybe together we can come over this hurdle.

Congratulations on this new adventure in you life. You will love it. Just remember that you need to be mentally ready for this change. It does require a lot of mental control to push out those cravings for food that is unhealthy. Best of luck to you! -
Congrats on your choice that you have made. I am 29 and had my surgery 4/5/07. At the time my daughter was 2 and I wanted to be around long enough to see every milestone in her life. Best wishes!!

Hello All---I am Colleen from NY. I was banded on 4/5/2007. I was 239.5 now around 179. I have a question about "sludge" and how it is so freaking annoying. I can take a sip of liquid and feel my "sludge" build up and eventually build up so much that I have to get rid of it. However, I can eat garlic knots or something similar and they go through with no feeling of building up. Any thoughts?

Thank you for your reply. It's horrible that sludge and sometimes I can't take it. I know that I probably get it when I eat things I shouldn't. When were you banded? Do you love it?

Congrats on this life changing event. I had to lose 5% of my body weight per my doctor. He said that small amount of weight loss will cut the fat around the liver so much that the surgery will be easier. Take your time, write everything down that you eat and remember that since you have decided to go ahead with this process, 2 months will fly by and those 10 pounds will come off. If you want to process to go by faster and not go longer than the 2 month---just remember that when you want to eat something high in fat or calories.
