  1. I wish the recovery were going well! Unfortunately, I have yet to be banded!!! :( Apparently I had MRSA December 15th, so they rescheduled me for December 30th!!! I've been on a liquid diet since December 2nd!!! I'm going CRAZY! But I've gone from 306 to 287.7, and that was when I weighed three days ago.

    Surgery Postponed

Hahaha! Gross! That reminds me of this girl in highschool who slept around way too much. My friends would call her a "grilled cheese". Eww! I'm not gonna elaborate on that one! Luckily, my yeast is on my pantyline, at my thigh/under that belly roll below my navel (I have one of those?! What?!) not internal! That would suck worse! Turns out, tho, I DO have MRSA. Nooo!!!

    Surgery Postponed

[[WARNING: Intro is potentially WAY TOO MUCH INFO!!!]] I had been a little concerned about the rash on my right panty line that seems to be a little on the yeasty side, but I figured it was far enough away from the site of banding incisions that it wouldn't matter. :frown: I arrived at the hospital this morning at 5:15 and got all prepped for surgery, including the IV hookup and a heparin shot in my belly. The Medical Fellow, Jennifer, came in and asked if I had any open sores, cuts, or scrapes. I showed her the rash and she immediately sought out my surgeon. :crying: Gersin came in, too one look below the belt, and said "Dont think I'm saying this to be mean or because I have some golf game to get to-- there's no way I can operate when you have a yeast infection there. And what you thought was folliculitus looks more like MRSA to me. I'm going to order an IV drip of Diflucan, give you a tab to take once daily for the next six days, and have the nurse swab your nose to test for MRSA." :blushing: I'm going back in to see him Friday @ 8:30 and then getting banded December 23rd @ 12:45pm. I cannot imagine waiting all morning without food or drink. I'd be MISERABLE. :crying: Maybe I'll take benadryl to knock me out til we leave for the hospital. I am SOOOO bummed. You have NO idea! This will be a 3-week pre-op liquid diet by the time I get banded. My nightmare DID come true- in my hospital gown and ready to go into surgery, only to find out the doctor wouldn't perform it for one reason or another. UGHHH!!! Foreshadowing. :mad2: The good news is the Diflucan IV has worked wonderfully! It's still a tiny bit red, but mostly better.
  5. Any last-minute tips or suggestions? I'm leaving the house at 4:30am to make it to the hospital downtown by 5:15am. Surgery wont begin until 7:30am, but I have to be there early to check in and stuff. Hopefully I'll remember to use the restroom before they put my IV in this time! :smile2: (Forgot when I had a liver biopsy five years ago.) It should only take an hour and a half, but Dr. Gersin does a liver biopsy and intibates me during surgery, leaving my throat dry and sore when I wake up. :smile2: My worst nightmare is if I were to wake up and Mom says, "Sorry, honey, they said you had a fatty liver and to try again later." Ugh! :tt1: I cannot imagine going through the incision pain twice, much less that aweful pre-op diet! :tongue2:
  6. I am SO excited! Too bad my tummy is hella rumbling, though. I ate salad and broccoli for dinner, which kinda went right through me. I forgot to eat my allotted 2 tablespoons of natural peanut butter before midnight, so I'm kinda stuck. I hate that I cant even drink water at this point! Any last-minute tips or suggestions? (Already posted this on the 20s board, but wanted to alert you fellow December Bandsters!)
  7. Thank you!!! :3 +add friend

    Getting Banded in the Morning!

Do you think the reason you guys were so thirsty was because they intibate you during surgery? That's what Mom was saying. I dread the sore throat more than I dread the incision sites, lol! Anyway, I better get a 3-hour nap, cos that's all I have time for before we leave for the le hospital! I'm sure I'll get TONS of sleep tomorrow, though! Also, how many days did it take before you were okay to drive? And did you sleep all day the second day, too? If so, by what day did you get back to a normal sleep schedule? UGH! My tummy in rumbling and I cant put anything in it! Not even water!!!

    Ugh....ladies only

I make this TOTALLY delicious pre-op approved "shake": 2 c milk 2 scoops vanilla Protein powder 1/8 tspn peppermint extract 3 scoops sugar-free nesquik powder Combine all ingredients and blend. MMM!!! But I gotta gloat- I had the birth control implant, Implanon, inserted January 27th and after a hellacious 27-day menstrual cycle, it's GONE FOREVER!!!

You are GORGEOUS!!! I love your eyes! And your round nose is cute as a button!!!

    changes

Grrrrl, you is NUTS if you think you aren't good lookin'! You's beautiful, chica!!! And after all this hard work you've invested into yourself, it's paid off fully! I've actually written down an NSV Goal "Got Cat-called By a Stranger." LOL! :tongue2:
  12. I'm getting banded tomorrow morning @ 7:30am. I'm SO excited, it's ridiculous! Especially after seeing Katiebug's before/after photos! She's totally inspired me!!!

I've lost 15 lbs on my pre-op diet, though. I was lame and, after receiving the "not recommended" foods list for post-op, which included many of my favourites, I went CRAZY binging on junk left and right. Skyrocketed from 272.8 at my first appointment to 306 at my last meet with the surgeon! WHAT?! LOL! I fail at life sometimes, when it comes to food!

banded yesterday and feelin just fine!

Aw man, exams make me cram more food in my mouth than actually cram facts! I'm SUCH a stress-eater. Me + a bag of tortilla chips = A or B on final. Me + Pre-Op diet = C UGHHHH! Haha I'm sure it's all in my head, though. Good luck, chica! Kick some serious tukkus! Mom is real bummed cos she's losing weight really slow ever since Thanksgiving. Said she gained a lb over thanksgiving and its' taken forever to get back off. But I think we naturally eat more in the winter maybe cos thousands of years ago we used to hibernate?! HAHAHAH Prolly not, but I'll pretend like we did. :3
  14. I'm scheduled for surgery Monday @ 7:30am and I have a couple of concerns, just for my peace of mind: (1) I have folliculitis (inflamed hair follicals) in a few places below the belt and a rash, neither of which are contageous. They look more painful than they actually are, whic is more of the concern. Would the doctor cancel just because my discoid lupus (skin-related issues) is acting up? It usually does in the winter. (2) In my pre-op diet, I had to have under 1300 calories, under 100 carbs, and between 90-120 grams of Protein through clear and full liquids only. But I was also allowed a 3-4oz. piece of lean meat once each week, veggie salads, and steamed veggies. Mom had the surgery back in March and ate all kinds of Soups, instead of the cream of chicken Soup on the list. They didn't cancel her surgery. So I've been eating the same types of soup as well. I dont know... Day 2 of the Pre-Op diet I had a nightmare that my surgery got cancelled because I failed some test with a 60. Probably just school anxiety manifesting in lap-band anxiety, but I'm still concerned. Anyone know if the rash would cause my doctor to cancel? And how do they know if you ate non-approved soup? Uggghhhh.

    lapbands and relationships

Sarah, even though you may be in "virgin territory", (nice pun, btw ), you hit the nail on the head. People get really insecure when their SO loses weight. They feel at though they may be lost with all the extra weight. The only thing you can do is to reassure them and have very, very open communication about your experiences together. I cannot believe someone's marriage ended over weight loss! I see how a dating relationship could, but you'd think people would feel more secure when there's a ring involved!!!

banded yesterday and feelin just fine!

You are TOO cute! (Your words AND you!) I never read posts that long, or at least rarely, but as I'm going in for surgery Monday morning, I'm looking for others experiences to give me a "heads up"! How is life with the band now?

Holy CRAP you have the face of an angel! I've never said that before, cos I've never seen one, but daaang! You are gonna be KNOCK DEAD in a few months! Your natural face-shape is SO perfect!!! :3
  18. I saw you comment on Katiebug's profile, so I had to click your cute face, lol! You look adorable now! I cannot wait to see the results of getting banded. I'm heading in for mine Monday morning and am more excited than nervous, but still.

    160lb

Your face reminds me a teeny bit of Lauren Ambrose from Six Feet Under. I think it's the mouth/jaw line. You are SO CUTE! Congrats on losing all that weight!!! You've totally inspired me. I dont have a single supportive friend, except my mom- because everyone says I'm "cheating" or that I need to "do it the old fashioned, hard way", or that I'm "too young"! I'm so sick of that reaction.

    September (280)

You are SUCH a cutie! At any size! I love the shape of your lips, too! I have a thing for lips. :3 It's so hard to find guys with a nice "kisser", lol!
  23. I havent read through this whole thread, but I did want to put my two cents in. The guy I dated for five years had always dated skinnier chicks before me. I was 180 when I started dating him back in April 2000, but thanks to Depo Provera (the birth control shot) I gained all the way up to 270 before we broke up and then 306 before I started my pre-op diet. The girl he dated/had a kid with after me is also definitely a "bigger girl". Apparently, once you're attracted to a particular type, that becomes the model of comfort for you and you subconsciously seek it out! I prefer lean guys, not scrawny, but I've had a crush on a "chubbier" guy as of late. I dont know what it is, but chubbier guys tend to have the BEST sense of humour! My friend Chris was a "fat kid" and lost a lot of weight working for Fedex. Now he runs and is all muscular, but still has that same sense of humour. That's my absolute favourite in someone!!! :3 Oh, but every single guy friend I have likes their women ample in back with a nice round belly. Not an overly fat belly, but a round one that they can nestle into, you know? Rock hard abs are only nice to look at- not nice to get close to.

    College Students Report Here!

I guess I'll dive into the college thread! Hey Bikini- I saw the Smashing Pumpkins October 8th! It was really, really awesome. I got a little more star-struck seeing Billy Corgan than I thought I would, though. I'm set to graduate in May, but if I have my way, I'll be a college student for quite some time. Hoping to go to law school in the fall, even though I haven't applied anywhere just yet. I'm a little slow-going on taking the LSAT and everything. I'm also a Religious Studies major with a minor in Anthropology. Started out as a major in Anthro, but then realized I was attracted to religion because it's the way in which nearly every culture explains the world around it! Just fascinates me a lot! :3

    Holy pre-op diet BATMAN!!

Whatever, Blockbuster isn't Satans Den! I love movies, from ANYWHERE. But if you have a VisArt near you, they're awesome. I LOL-ed at that "sexy liver" comment!!! I go in to get banded Monday morning (it's not Saturday night and I'm babysitting). You beat me! What a punk! I've lost 15 lbs but it took me 10 days to get there! I havent weighed myself again, cos I'm waiting til Monday morning before I leave for the hospital to weigh one last time. :3 Anyway- good work! How's the band going for ya?
