    New Tastebuds

So I broke.my liquid diet with a bite of caesar salad, which I promptly chewed to liquid-like smitherines... Only to be outright APPAULED by the taste! I'd been craving a caesar since days before surgery, but it tasted absolutely rancid! My sister ate it without conplaint. But to me, it tasted like my disgusting ex-step-grandfather's breath! Now this leaves me wondering if my portion size wasn't the only thing to change post-op.

    Day 4 Post-Op: Salad

That makes SO much sense! I cancelled the salad just in time. I'm not hungry for food, just liquids.
  10. I was allowed 2 eat salad n steamed veggies on my pre-op liquid diet. Does ne1 know if I could keep eating salad, or not til week 9 when all foods are allowed? I'm @ Fridays as I write this...
  11. I was banded 12/30 and haven't had a shower since the night before the procedure. I am required to wait 48 hrs, which I've passed. I'm just SO nervous to get the sites cleaned. Any tips or suggestions? Thx!
  12. Hello! I had a buddy when I did Weight Watchers in the past and loved the system. We would actually hand-write each other letters and send one another fun-filled packages to keep us inspired and excited! Just a little about me, I guess-- I'm a 23-year old libra, finishing up my fifth (second year as a senior) year at the local university with my BA in Religious Studies and a minor in Anthropology. I'm hoping to go to law school next fall, though I've yet to apply. I enjoy drawing, reading, photography, watching movies, etc. My Meyers-Briggs is an ENFP: Extrovert Intuitive Feeling-Based Perceptive. If you're a spunk 20-something looking for a Band Buddy, I'd love to hear from you! Please respond here so others can see that I've had response, but also shoot me an email to doodleallday@gmail.com! <3 Molly

    What should I expect>

Honestly, it helped having gone thru everything up to the heparin shot in my belly before I was cancelled due to MRSA. So the 2nd go-round went a lot more smoothe. There are a couple things you should be wary of: + they put in a breathing tube once you are asleep + when they took mine out, my throat was killing me (and still iritates me 4 days later) + I had also bitten my lip REALLY hard when they took it out and I read someone else on LBT had chipped a tooth the same way + not many ppl kno outside the medical field, but don't let the IV freak u out. Once they numb u and put it in, the needle retracts and a tiny plastic tube remains + also, walk that day and plenty thru recovery bc it helps break up the gas in your body cavity + make sure u take Colace or another stool softener so u don't put any pressure on the lesions
  14. Mine was definitely outpatient. Went under arond 1:30pm and left around 7ish because they had to IV-feed me 3 liters of Fluid before I could use the restroom. Eventually, we gave up and I awoke every 2 hours once home to use the restroom. The gas thing I can relate whole-heartedly to! Yesterday it was so painful I would cringe every second, holding my stomach. Luckily, it mostly took care of itself last night when something I'd eaten finally digested itself. Out with that came much of the gas. (Sorry for TMI!) I'm still bloated as all get-out, but I'm sure it'll pass over the next few days. Good luck to you, though!! :3
  15. Sure did! Banded 12/30/08 @ 1:30pm. Woot! I'm still a little achey, but havent had to take my pain meds just yet today. I haven't been eating much at all, which completely caught me off guard. Even when my sister was eating one of my fav foods, I think of how it could cause my band to slip. No way would I want to go through this surgical pain again!!!

  16. Honestly, that sounds like the flu!

    Anyone have this problem

First and foremost, know that you aren't alone. I'm quite the emotional eater and have found working through cognitive beha vior exercises keeps me busy AND informed. The most helpful I've come across is by a Dr. Beck, but the title slips my mind. Another I enjoyed was called Shrink Yourself: Break Free From Emotional Eating Forever

One day out and feeling horrible

Today is day 1 post-op for me, too. I'm @ a restaurant table w my family, tho its a bit painful. Thank God for Percocet. My only qualm is that my tummy hurts, on top of the gas. This makes it impossible to tell if I'm hungry or full. I had 3 bites o mashed taters and 4 bites of soup and feel SO bloated!
  20. I'm heading to the hospital! This is it! If they think my liver is too fatty and dont approve me for surgery, I wont be able to afford it after this year, due to insurance. Pray for me, those of you that pray! Send any good vibes my way that you can muster forth!!! *bounces off to the car, preparing herself mentally for the Heparin shot in her belly and the IV in her hand* See ya'll next year!!! Lets hope I have an additional piece of plastic in me then!
  21. Congrats, chica! You look HOT in that OR gown!!! Haha! ;3 Anyway- Im heading in now! I went @ 7:30 and they said I was mistaken- I'm getting it done @ 1:30. Ugh- all day without food or water!!!
