I haven't had surgery since I was 6 y/o, so I've been pretty nervous, too. I haven't been nervous about the surgery as much as the IV, though! And I'm a nurse!!! I can give it, but can't take it:) I actually had an endoscopy a week ago and the IV wasn't NEARLY as bad as I had blown it up to be. I have really great veins and they got it with one stick! So, my nerves are much better, now. I'm just ready to get my band! Tentative date 7/21/09.

    Fun Goals...

This isn't really a goal, just something I'm looking forward to! Last October, my fiance and I went to Disney World/Universal; after the first day, I thought my feet were gonna fall off! We had to take frequent breaks, and I avoided some rides b/c I was afraid I wouldn't fit. October 2010 we have another trip planned for Universal/SeaWorld (we are totally hooked!!!), and by then I should be down quite a bit in weight (surgery 7/21/09 if all goes well). I can't wait to be able to get on any ride I want and not worry if I'll fit. And I plan to be in much better shape so we won't have to take as many breaks!

    Fun Goals...

According to Japanese legend if a koi fish succeeded in climbing the falls at a point called Dragon Gate on the Yellow River it would be transformed into a dragon. So, when I reach my goal weight, I want to get a tattoo of a koi. It represents perseverence in overcoming adversity. I'd like one of a koi transforming into a dragon, but haven't found one, yet, that I like.

    July 2nd

My tentative surgery date is July 21st. I just had an endoscopy on Friday and found out I have a large hiatus hernia, so I'll be off work for 8 weeks instead of 1 postsurgery. Worried about how my manager's gonna take that, but it can't be helped! Is anyone else tired of hearing from coworkers, etc... that this surgery is purely elective?! My severe hypertension, GERD, sleep apnea, insurance company, PCP, pulmonologist, gastroenterologist, and bariatric surgeon don't consider it elective and neither do I!! This is a last resort for me, and I would never have a surgery that was "elective". OK, just had to vent a little:blush:.
  5. A lapband fill is not within a registered nurse's scope of practice. I strongly recommend that everyone continue to look for an MD who will do your fill. This nurse could lose her license doing this, but you could lose much more if your fill is botched!
  6. Can anyone tell me what kind of documentation Acclaim requires as far as past weight loss attempts/weight history? Thank you!
