Now I'm having second thoughts....
SunnyDee replied to New_Bander's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I was just banded June 20th and as much as I wanted this surgery I was thinking I might cancel lol - I'd never had any kind of surgery before so this was a MAJOR thing for me. It's also the best thing I've ever done for myself !!!! I've lost 11lbs in two weeks. I can't say that I'm never hungry - but I can tell you that about a cup of food fills me up. And I can't imagine ever regretting this decision. it's normal to be nervous, but believe it or not, you'll wonder why you were when you're on the other side of surgery and with the band :clap2: -
Count me in......I'm 12 days post op and 316 - 11lbs would suit me fine....that would drop me to 305. Do we post before pics?

Congrats to all the new bandees I'm 8 days out and feel really good. Today was the first day my Dr said to try solids. Solids for me is cottage cheese and green beans. So far so good....Sometimes I'm amazed at how little fills me up. And then there's times when my head hunger is so severe I want to just stuff everything I can see into my mouth, even though my tummy is full. That's when I reach for the sugar free pops, helps with my oral fixation that got me into this in the first place lol Praying for all the bandsters to be this month and or those of us who already wear our band :Banane56: Tried to upload my before pic, but I don't seem to be doing this right lol

How long until you were able to work?
SunnyDee replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I was banded on the 20th of June, and I could physically return to work. But I have opted to stay off until July 3rd because I'm still bloated and tender and wearing a bra is very hard. I feel squished together in one and then I have this shelf sitting on my chest while I'm wearing a bra. So I'm taking the extra week off to heal that area and not feel as badly wearing that dang bra all week long. :omg: -
Before Pics?? Yikes I was supposed to post a before pic? Ok where do I do that?? I haven't seen any in this particular thread? But iffen ya have nightmares later, don't be blaming me......bahahahahahah:Banane13:

Well I know I was naked......they originally asked me to remove everything and put on the gown, a nice big gown, that I was able to cover my butt with when I ran out to the rest room before being wheeled upstairs. Never dawned on me that I would be naked....:omg: But when the OR Nurse started slipping my gown away, I (buzzed on valium) asked her ummm and I going to be naked? She said, yep sweetie, can't have anything contaminating the operating area of your skin. I was a bit embaressed but before I could really reply I was waking up in recovery, no cath, but indeed back in my gown :clap2: Having never had surgery before or any kind of anethesia, I guess I conked before I could be embarressed lol But yanno, Dr. Hung had already seen most of my naked flesh, and I have had to strip for nurses in the past. At least this time I got to sleep thru the whole thing lol

I wore the largest pair of shorts and blouse I could find....wasn't sure where the incisions were going to be and wanted to save myself any pain that I could lol I live less than 2 miles from the hospital, so the ride home was easy, and the car had seat belt extender so I was covered there. Comfy is definitely the way to go.....cuz you belly is gonna be swollen and if your shirt is snug, it might be uncomfortable.

I was banded on the 20th of June as well.....and I did experience a day of depression, but mine was related I think to going thru the surgery alone and going home alone afterward. I was on liquids for the first day and then onto cream Soups till today. Today my list includes mushies and I bought a couple of these great mashed frozen tater things, that are supposed to be like baked potatoes lol I got one in sweet potato and I was in heaven. I tried to have some applesauce with it and felt full really quickly. I got the same gasy grumbly things after surgery but know the diffrence between hunger and that because I am not usually in pain if hungry lol I'm still swollen though, and I think I look like I swallowed a watermelon. My co-worker who was banded a month before me says I look fine, but then I've always been my own worst critic  I've walked around my apartment since I got home on Wed of this week, and today ventured for a two block walk to the store and back. I was pretty tired when I got done. Still having some gas problems and taking the gas X strips for that. Hoping that will end soon. I do find that when I eat the childrens Vitamins they make me a bit queasy, perhaps the sugar? I don't normally use sugar as I'm diabetic so I haven't' had anything else with sugar, gonna ask my Dr about that on Monday. Anyone else having problems with their vitamins making them queasy. I found a great whey protien 24 grams per scoop, and I make a double scoop with milk or Water for Breakfast, and have a 3rd scoop in some cream of wheat for either lunch or dinner. Yay mushies.:clap2: I don't regret my decision to have this band, I was scared to death to have surgery, as I'd never had sugery in my life before. But I can see how it's affecting me and it's all positive. Head Hunger - Oh my you betcha, I hate to smell beef searing on the grill cuz I WANT IT NOW lol even when I know I'm not hungry, but I just walk away. The thought of PBing keeps me away from things I shouldn't be having lol I'm excited that I have a tool to help me beat my last addiction.... Good luck to all the new bandsters and future bandsters :hippie:

I picked up a *Magic Bullet* on eBay for less than 40.00 brand new with shipping. This is the greatest invention - this blends, juices, and mushes all in one machine :fish: eBay: NIB 21 piece Magic Bullet Blender Juicer As Seen on TV (item 4461028929 end time May-16-06 12:27:53 PDT)

Banded two days ago, and I have to admit it was a lot less scarey than I thought it would be. Dr. Hung's staff here in Lincoln Neb are just a dream team. Have some residual gas pain, but have been using Gas X Strips and they've helped a great deal. Incisions sting now and then, but I haven't had to rely upon the pain meds too much. Still very bloated tho, so glad I don't have to interact with the public this week lol I'm glad to be on this side of the band now, and although I don't have *restriction* I find myself not very hungry....some creamy soup and a jello make a fine meal for now. Best wishes to all the future JuneBee's and to all that were banded this past month.

Hi Shantell personally I'm feeling ok I have some incisional stinging, and it does hurt a bit to get up off my bed. So I'm spending most of my time out of it lol and in chairs or walking around. Enjoying a great Peaches and Cream Protein shake and checking out the board. Best thing I've ever done for myself. Congrats to you on your new band.:clap2:

Hi Myra Was banded yesterday at 1pm and am home and hanging out on my computer. Surgery went well, and I feel better than I thought I would. Pain is minimimal and Soup tastes great Thanks for thinking of me Myra

Cornhusker here - surgery is to be at 2pm today. Started researching wls over 10 years ago, never had insurance that would agree. New insurance and new proceedure and I was approved before I knew it. :clap2: Looking forward to be a Banded Cornhusker. :hippie:

I3 hours till my surgery, and I can't sleep.....been on the clear liquids and having my last sip of anything now as it's NPO now. I'm excited, and nervous, and excited, and scared.....lol I've never had surgery and well it's a bit daunting. Looking forward to being on the other side of the band soon. Have lost 9lbs on the pre op and the liquid thing hasn't been too bad today except for when someone near my cubicle was eating fries.....yike I never knew my tummy could rumble so loudly lol.... I'm so grateful to this board......I've learned what to do to get ready and what to have on hand for after the surgery. This time tomorrow I will be a June Bandster.... I'm blessed to know that God is with me thru all of this. Thank you all for being here.

They gave me surgery date, and my sig other ended our relationship and I find I am out of control, I'm eating to fill the void and I'm afraid it's going to kill my surgery date when I step on the scales next week for my pre op visit and instead of losing I've gained weight I tell myself not to do it, and we have another fight (yes I'm stuck here for another week before I can move) and there I am in the fridge eating to take away the pain. I just need some encourgement I guess......perhaps I'll stock up on sugar free popsicles so at least if I'm shoving something in my mouth it won't be as bad as some of the choices I've been making. Thanks for listening...... Sunny
-
Yep add me to the nervous but ready to go group. Since I've never had surgery I'm nervous......eeep And I'm going through this alone, my sig other took a powder last week, so I'm going in alone and waking up alone. I'm thinking the good part of all of that is that I don't have to cook for anyone while I'm healing, and won't be tempted to eat things I shouldn't as I'm not going to have them in the house anymore. I will succeed, I'm just grateful to have this great group of bandsters and bandsters to be to come to for support :peace:

How Do You Take Medications?
SunnyDee replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I'm glad this thread is here......at this time in life *pre -band* I take SEVERAL pills :omg: Metformin worries me as it's so danged big!! I'm thinking perhaps my PC can find something else that's smaller than Metformin. I just scoped out my other meds and they're pretty small, so I'm thinking I might be able to swallow those.....:phanvan At least I hope so..... Liquid anything just gives me the willies lol......and I'm hoping this band will rid me of my diabetes and high blood pressure an that's 3 pills gone if it does -
Congratulations

Myra I got my approval finally and my surgery is scheduled for June 20th When they finally *found* the paperwork it was much quicker than I had anticipated. Of course it helps that Dr. Hung's nurse Lisa is a real go - getter and she actually had a person she called and pushed regularly lol. We both chuckled that this person was probably sorry they ever gave her his direct extension....... So I'm happy to say I'll be banded in two weeks
