Hi all Hope your all well today, i am nearly two weeks post band and thought i would bring you up to speed. I have been sticking to pretty much blended food with the odd dutch bread cake thing flung into the bargain, been feeling no restriction but know thats to be expected. I came in from work today starving and put out 2 dutch cakes and cottage cheese ,again which i have eaten no problem, half way into the second one, the last mouthfull just sat at the back of my throat and rapidly followed severe hic ups and mouthfulls of fluid, hey ho i guess thats restriction but god only knows why it choose that point. Will have my tea later and see how i get on. G x -

I also got mine taken out and trimmed as funnily enough mine were going red aroung the stitch and not the wound, think also swelling might have went down a little,it now only resembles a large orange rather than a melon, my lovely yellow and purple bruises seem to have gone. I dont have restriction either but i expected that but i am still sticking to the soft food, it is driving me nuts that i cant train, however been going to gym and just walking just to keep my sanity, only another 10 days then i can get back into it. It will be fill time before we know it. Take care G x -

Hi there, I also live in glasgow and heard about WLS fills and I seems to be cheaper if you have the 6 month package and use it. Can you give me any more details, how often can you go and is it set dates. Thanks G X -

Hey MMM How you doing, did your nurse take out the clesr ones as well, i have 5 clear and one blue. I am feeling good and being a good boy eating a sloppy diet however i still have that large orange/small melon swelling under my skin around port and other 4 incisions, not worrying too much as its i feel fine, i guess its just op swelling as they told me, think i will give it another week and if its not went down i will go back to GP. I have my first fill booked for 19th March. I done feely any restriction but i am eating sloppy however maybe 15 mins after i have had say my dinner which is prob the largest meal of the day i eventually get the slight chest pain, no doubt that has something to do with it, but it is delayed. Hey ho we are living and learing. Take it easy. G x -

i tonight have boiled some potatoes really soft and fried some lean bacon, onion, garlic and mshrooms in olive oil then place all of it inc potato into food processer and then grated a small ammount of cheese on top then under grill. It was lovely a good wee tip for those post op as it has protien from bacon, carbs from potato fat from oil and cheese and veg from onion and mushroom so all in all balanced and dam tasty. G x -

K I too was in that camp, she will feel fine apart from wound area discomfort however i would reccomend that she takes a few days too herself, i intended to go back on tues/wed however i did not, went for a few hours yesterday and done some work from home. I found yesterday it is completely different sitting at a desk than sitting at home, i was quite sore sitting so upright. A week is nothing and worth it. G x -

Thanks for that, the pre op diet is so important and Dr Chris mentioned to me how my liver was very small and easy to manouver. They anticipated becasue i am a big guy that the op would have taken 45-50 mins but apparently i was all done in 30. Apart from my swelling the other day my recovery has been great and i put it down to my level of excercise and diet pre op. As far as items to take, i would take tea bag ( i never but was jealous of mmm having tea and a soggy biscuit, plain of course) peppermint tea, windeze, lip balm, moisturiser, elasticated trousers for leaving hosp and travel home, a wee pointer think mmm mentioned the other day but do take a lot of the barium when you get x ray, i had to ask for a refill twice as it is a laxative and beleive me it realeses some good wind all over that may be giving you shoulder pain. If i can think of anything else i will let you know. Gxx -

Swelling down a bit today so i am now convinced it is just post op swelling and not an internal bleed. A good bit still to go down but not worrying anymore. Thanks for all the concern G x -

Cant weight. No probs i was 28 st 10 at the start of nov (BMI 57) and decided to start training again and eating properly, i have lost 8 stone twice in 10 years through eating and training but put it back on. After my consultation Dr Chris would prefer my BMI to be closer to 50 so that was all the motivation i needed. The morning of my op i was 25 st 7 and this morning i was 24 13 so i am 2 pound off 4 stone since nov so a good start even before i get resticiton so i am pretty please. Feel free to ask any more questions Garry
