  1. I had mine on a Friday, and I went into work for half a day on the next Tuesday. I am pretty sure that you will be able to go to work on Monday, especially if you have a desk job. It was one of the easiest surgeries that I have every had.
  2. Hi everyone! I found this site by pure accident, I was looking up gastric band with plication on google and went to lap band talk and the last thread said to come over here, so here I am. I was banded in Nov 08, and I lost 85 lbs and now I am down 55lbs. I actually went in to see my Dr about having a sleeve done, and he says "look at this new procedure I am starting to do". We talked about it, I researched it, and I have decided to do it! When I talked to him on the 2nd he had done his first plication, and I'm curious as to how many he's done since. I have been reading all the post here, about when you had to start going on a liquid diet, and most was 2 days before. They wanted me to do it 2 weeks before, and the stuff I got from them is okay, it's all high in Protein, shakes, bars, and Soup. I have been STARVING! I finally decided I would eat one real meal a day, high in protein. I really wanted that last meal though Thursday night, but I guess I better not . I am excited and nervous all at the same time. I want to loose 150lbs, and I hope that I have made the right decision. 8 days to go, guess we will see!

    What is being "stuck"?

I have often wondered the same thing. It doesn't happen often to me, but when it does it's bad. I've only had it happen twice. I have eaten something for supper one night like hamburger meat and I have noticed that it just didn't feel right going down so I don't eat anymore. Then the next day when I try to eat it doesn't go down AT ALL! That's when the slimming starts and sometimes it will come up with that and sometimes not. This time it was 3 days before I got it all up and I had to throw up everything that I had in my stomach which wasn't much, and today I feel fine! I have only had it happen like that twice and I HATE it! I have had the feeling in my chest when I swallow something too big alot of times, but I don't consider that stuck, cause it goes down, stuck to me is when you can't get ANYTHING down for a couple of days.

    VERY discouraged....

I love what Kelly had to say, AMEN! I really needed that today. I told my husband just last night that I wished I had gotten the by pass instead. It's getting harder to eat, and it takes longer. I am having a problem as in what to eat, I don't get long for lunch and I have found that left overs don't always go down that easy, too dry. I have never been that good in picking out the right foods to eat, guess if I could I wouldn't be here! I need to start exercising more but for some reason I just can't make myself and I can't figure out why. Postalram you sound like my husband, I know just because I had the surgery doesn't mean the weight is gonna come off!
  5. I think I was at the point that I was VERY close to being hospitalized. I didn't realize until after my unfill how dehydrated I was. It was taking me all day to drink a 16oz bottle of water. I told her that I wanted to go down to 8.5 or 9 cc's, and she told me that she had to put me at 6.5 cc's, because my stomach was inflamed and irritated, that it would feel like I was at 8 cc's and to come back in 3 weeks and she would fill me some more. I could drink as much as I wanted as soon as I left and I could eat, I hadn't been able to eat in a week!!! I feel soooooo much better today it's unreal.
  6. I got my band November 26, 2008. I got my first fill Jan 12, second Feb 26, third April 2, and my fourth last Thursday May 14. I have a 14cc band, and in my third fill I was at 8cc's, and I had restriction and could tell if I did not chew something up really good and I was always getting hungry between meals and could eat more. When I went in for my fourth fill, I went up to 10cc's. I know that you are swollen some after an adjustment and I am usually fine within 4 or so days, but this time it's not like that at all. I haven't been able to eat in a week, have lost 11lbs since last Thursday, I threw up water yesterday because I took too big of a drink. I am headed back today to have some taken out. I have never done this before, how much do they normally take out? I think I want to go down to 9cc's and see how that does. Any advice?

What is the best Protien Drink ?

I have found THE BEST pre-made protein drink made. It is called Bolthouse Farms Perfect Protein Mocha Cappuccino. It tastes like something from Starbucks! I tried the Naked brand and thought I was going to throw it up! I found these at Wal-Mart in the section with the refrigerated juices, and there are 3 flavors to choose from. You can check out their website and check the store locator to see if they have them in your area. www.bolthouse.com

    GNC Protein

Has anyone tried any of the protein mixes that GNC has? I ordered some protein Unjury, and some other liquid and I have heard nothing but how bad it is, and I am afraid to open it and try it. I am thinking about sending it back if I can find another protein that I can buy locally that is good. Any suggestions?

    Wishy-washy family/friends support :/

Don't let them discourage you! People that do not have a weight problem do not understand what, those of us that do, go thru. I made my decision to have the surgery and NO ONE was going to change my mind. The only people that knew where my husband, mom and sister and they knew all what I had been thru trying to loose weight over the past 15 years! Enough was enough, it was time to think about ME. I met with the Dr, and was had the surgery in the next 2 weeks. I have only told my best friend, and that was after I had the surgery. It was My decison, and I did it for ME. Think about yourself and do what you need to do. If they care they will be there for you no matter what!

    What to tell work/coworkers

I work in education, so I watied until the day before Thanksgiving and had mine done. I went in that Wednesday and home first thing Thursday morning. I laid around all weekend and went back to work on Monday. I have a desk job so it really wasn't that bad, I was tired at the end of the day, but by Wednesday I could tell a big difference. I did not tell anyone at work that I was having it done. My husband, my oldest child, my mom and sister are the only ones that know and my best friend. I wouldn't tell them what you are having done, I would just say that you need to have a procedure done and need to take a week off. Good Luck!
  12. I just joined this group today, and I was banded on Nov 26th, the day before Thanksgiving. I really didn't know what to expect. I had ice chips, jello and broth in the hospital, and was told to have 4oz of some type of liquid every hour. After having, juice, V8, jello, pudding, yogurt, and popsicle for a week I was STARVING! My stomach made the most horrible sounds. I called the nurse and she told me that I could eat cream soups if I have not be nausea or sick, which I hadn't. It really helped to eat something on the food line. I don't know if my band is filled with anything or not, and wasn't sure what to expect if I ate anything "real". I ate some pizza last night, 3 small pieces and it was SO GOOD, and then I felt SO BAD! I am still full today from it, but it helped some to eat it, to know that I can't eat like I used to. I go to the Dr on Monday and really don't know what to expect. I am going to ask if he filled my band any and what size band I have. I love this website!
