Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

I am posting to see if my new avatar is going to work. I thought since I am always playing catch up this would be appropriate. Holly

Hey 50 & over gang We have a new spot

Thanks Joanne for the info I am getting kirklands calcium tabs asap. Is it the calcium that causes the constipation or the protein? The miralax works to good and benifiber doesn’t work good enough. All this is such a work in process. I am 1951 model and am always playing catch up. Holly March exercise 15/22 Banded 1/29/09 [/img]

    I'm here to help...

Hi Dxegrl: Welcome to this thread. My mentor here is Janet and she is gone on a cruise this week. There are others here that can help you, though. You have been banded a year longer then I. So I am sure you know more than I. Slimming is probably what you are describing with the mucus issue. For what I have learned we all have that when we eat to fast or not chew enough or just certain kinds of foods will do it. For myself I find what helps is that writing every thing down that I eat and working on the protein first (at least 50 grams per day, makes approx. 10 to 20 grams each meal). You know all those rules like 64 oz of liquids, all together the rules will work. But just getting closer to your goal will slow the weight loss down. Remember your first day of being in band land. Just liquids real slow. Wow, I do. Hope you are not that tight. Best wishes, Holly March exercise 14/22 Banded 1/29/09 [/img]

Good Morning: Our weather here is also yuk, Saturday was 72 degree and so nice. I agree, Julie thank goodness it is almost April. Linda, our 27 year old daughter (with four kids under 4) has Juvenile diabetes, she has a hard time with it, also. I help her with her little ones regularly. It breaks my heart. How do you cope with two of yours having diabetes? Charlene love the one arm bandit. Well, the scales are down a little more today. Yippee! Have a good day. Good Morning: Apples, I enjoy reading about your cooking. I haven’t much desire to do that cooking thing but you have even brought out a little desire from me to do some cooking. It hasn’t always been so but the last few years I just am, all cooked out. DH cooks now much more then I. Phyl, You made me laugh this morning. Thanks! Good Morning: Am I the first on? I been up with a chest cold. Haven’t exercised for a few days because of it. Last night on the news it said if your sick from the neck up go ahead and exercise but from the neck down skip it. I think I will do some weight lifting at the least. Linda sorry about your fill drama. Mine went good but I was sore and bruised for next few days. I am worried I have been eating more than usual last two days I have had 1400 calories each day. Healthy food though. Have a good Friday the 13th. Holly Banded 1/29/09 Exercise 7/22

The only daughter of the only daughter, you would think I would know where it was. She been married afew times. Don't think I would wear it much. I could see you snow mobiling in it though. Classy and all. Hope your feeling better. My scales say I'm down three pounds below yesterdays Doc scales. Don't know what to beleive. Holly [/img]

Apples, I have to recommend some fresh herbs in your gift basket. I got off line and couldn't help myself I had to come back on and reply. People love to cook with them and they will look great in a basket. Holly [/img]

Yes, I have had problems getting on this site the last two evenings. I have better luck in the mornings. I had steak last night it was so good. I took Janets advice and chewed alot and ate very slow. I am still full this morning not wanting anything. Felt it all night almost to the point of uncomfort. I think I will only have steak once in a great while. Welcome, to all new banders and soon to be! Janet, love seeing what you are eating. A grilled cheese? All this time when someone said they were having tuna I thought on salad or soda cracker wasn't thinking SANDWICH... Also I had a Protein shake for Breakfast and it was 30grams protein then with lunch and dinner my protein ended up 87 grams for the day. Appreciate you so much Janet your advice to Becky was to me also. I need better planning. To all, have a good day! Holly Banded 1/29/09 exercised 14 out of 27 days [/img]

Hi all: Welcome, Erika you are in the right place. I am new at this too Sharon, yes a January Hottie. I do see us all in this together. Julie good luck with your fill. I live on a tree farm but the tree work is hard so we stopped planting trees but not the garden and green house work. My DH has a full time job other than the farm. So my job is the farm. I love spring with the flowers blooming in the greenhouse but am worried as flowers and landscaping is discretionary spending, with the economy and all. I am doing what I love. Being a 51 model it is good to do what you love. Julie keep with your dream to go riding some day. You are not to old. Just make sure it is a gentle horse. I used to be in a riding club and I have been thrown a time or two. Apple you have convinced me your avatar is now you. I’ll watch for you in my travels. Janet, I had 4 oz. chicken (well chewed) last night with winter squash and I didn’t drink anything for two hours after. I am still so full this morning I can’t even think about having to eat. Is this wonderful or what. It isn’t always like this though. I had more salt yesterday. Maybe, Water retention in the band? Never have had a fill. Holly Banded 1/29/09 [/img]

Hi all: Just checking in. I'm doing good with the life change. Looks like I will be going to Long Beach to see my Dad the first of April. He is 82. I am excited so I went to shop for something nice to wear and tried on this brown pin strip jacket and I thought it said 18 and it was a little too snug and it turned out to be a 16. That was a relief. My Dad is very critical of my weight so I am nervous. Lost a few more pounds. You look so good Janet, it is very encouraging and comforting that I can do this. Ich, my thoughts and prayers go with you. Gosh, we are gutsy pple. High five for us that go forward to take control of our lives. It is a continue work in progress. Janet, so many Protein bars are on the recall list. I looked this am and found my brand name but luckily not my carmel nut blast flavor, Balance Bar. Kashi is on the list also. Google FDA recall. Yes, I diffinetly count calories and track everything and take viactive chews(vitamines). I do feel better today, not weak. Seems if I drink white grape juice (I do thin with water) I feel better. But it takes hours to kick in. That is not how it is suppose to work. Sugar should flash fast into your system. We have a lot of type one diabetics in my family, juices is how they deal with their insulin reactions (crashing blood sugars). Maybe my pancreas is sluggish post op.:tongue2: Like my bladder and bowls and body temperature all was. So my question for Janet is after banding is there going to be a time, maybe before a fill, when we will go back to our old eating more and more not knowing we are physically full(not the mind hungry thing). If so, I will need to prepare myself for that. Banded 1/29/09 [/img]

Welcome back, Janet. E60, I think your doctor is asking if your satisfied because my doctor asked that pacifically. Bonnie are you all right? Anything broken? I am eating mushies and if it isn’t, I chew it til it is mushy. I haven’t tried bread and am not in a hurry to try it. On valentines day I did have a mini corn bread muffin for 90 calories and it did fine. I am still feeling weak. I have always been a strong healthy person. So feeling weak concerns me. I don’t let myself get hungry, I just eat. I am eating about 1,000 calories a day. Goals being 20-24 grams of fat, 50-60 grams Protein, 6-15 grams of fib, also exercise for 30 minutes, 5 days a week. Fellow Bandsters: I am new here and think this is where I need to be. I have been reading along for a month and loving the great advice. Janet, I need your input. Because I missed the obvious and I'm hoping you will catch what I do not get. I had my post op. visit yesterday. I was told because of my light headed and tired and weak feelings to increase my calorie intake with fruit juices or gatorade which adds 200 calories to my 700-900 calorie day. I woke up feeling much better, today. I am happy about the 10 more pounds:lol: down since surgery. I am starting slow on excercise 30 min. 2 days last week and adding more in this week. I have two more weeks of the healing diet before I go on to real solids, like steak!! Best wishes to all, Holly Banded 1/29/09 [/img]
