I'm all for Sedona - you would have to fly to Phoenix and then drive to Sedona. My second choice is Taos N.M. because I have never been there Lucy

Good Morning All! I don't post very often but I read this thread almost everyday! I did not join the water challenge because I actually LIKE water and easily get my water in every day. I too have not lost anything in two weeks. I wonder if this is typical since so many of us are complaining of the same thing. I am eating right - maybe not enough calories but I am getting in all my protein and also exercising every day. Surely the scale will drop soon! I enjoy all of you so much. Count me in for the reunion next June and any gift exchange/ rewards for reaching a goal by December. I am so grateful to have this support group to turn to. It really helps to know others are going through the same things I am! Good luck to all of you

I had to do one week of clear liquids before surgery and four weeks after. I am on the last of the five weeks and it is getting harder. The amount of time you are on clear liquids before surgery is directly related to the need to shrink the liver. My doctor believes that the four weeks after surgery is required for good healing. The 3 30 gram protein shakes a day plus taking all the vitamins and supplements each and every day are very important to maintain good nutrition. Good luck to you.

I had my surgery on 6/20/06 and have been on clear liquids this entire time. I have one more week to go of clear liquids and then get a fill on 7/17/06. I read about all of you eating regular food and I feel so jealous and yet I am not very tempted to eat anything not on my list. It's weird. If I think I want to eat something I just remember that I paid for this myself and the desire to go off my doctor's plan goes away fast! I hope that continues. :-)

How long until you were able to work?
lucymann replied to mslynn's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I left the hospital the morning after surgery and went straight to the office for 3 hours. I have been back to work full time after 4 days. -
Welcome Alberta - what a beautiful picture of you! You were banded one day before me. Hope everything goes well for your recovery. Lucy

Possible solution for PB's and restriction pain
lucymann replied to Jersey Jesse's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Hi all - I think I figured out what my problem was. I am sure I drank it too fast. I tried it again yesterday SLOWLY and it was just fine. But my husband bought me some chicken noodle Soup and we strained it and I drank the broth and it was delicious. I think I will stick to things like that for awhile. By the way, my doctor insists that we drink 64 ozs of pure Water a day and he says NO coffee/NO tea/NO milk/and (of course) NO sugar. I did not have any nausea yesterday and walked a mile with my husband and little dog and drank almost all of my water and felt much better. Today I showered, did my hair, got dressed and the sun is shining so I am planning on having a great day! Thanks to all of you for the great advice and caring. Lucy -
Hi I was banded on 6/20/06. Surgery and the hospital stay were a breeze. I had very little pain - up and walking and getting in my 50 1-oz cups of liquid with no problem. The next morning I was low on phosphorus so had to spend an extra 4 hours getting it by IV. I was finally released at noon. I walked out of the hospital and down to the parking lot and climbed into a Ford F150 truck for the trip to my office - no problems and no pain! I worked for three hours and then home to play with my miniature dachshund and then to nap. The next morning I was up, showered and dressed and at work by 6:30 a.m. I am telling you all this because I want you to know what NOT to do! THAT' s when I fell apart. I got sick and suffered from nausea all day. It was very hard for me to get down any liquid - only about 20 ozs the whole day. Today I am acting much more sensibly - I stayed home and have made it my mission in life to simply drink my water and diluted apple juice. I hope today goes better for me! Congratulations to all of you June bandsters! I look forward to coming here for support and encouragement. Lucy

Possible solution for PB's and restriction pain
lucymann replied to Jersey Jesse's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks Jesse - the things I am drinking are on my doctor's list but I will avoid the V8 from now on! I do only drink room temperature liquids. I am mostly concerned with not being able to get all my water in. -
Possible solution for PB's and restriction pain

6/23/06 3:30 a.m. - Well I am unable to sleep because I am miserable. I have really come down from the surgery high! (I had surgery 6/20/06) I don't hurt particularly but I have had a miserable day of constant nausea. I tried to drink a V8 this morning and threw the last of it up. Did I drink too fast? Did I not wait long enough and overfill my pouch? I don't know! Then it took all day to get down 11 ounces of diluted apple juice. I did a little better with 10 more ounces of water and got 8 of them down before bedtime. But now it is 3:30 a.m. and I am hungry and thirsty and feel an uncomfortable tightness in my chest. I am up walking ariound and trying to drink 10 more ounces of water. I hope this gets better soon! -
Hi Juliegeraci and bubbyville - thanks for the encouragement. I AM surprised at how quickly pounds drop on the liquid phase. I have read a lot about breaking plateaus by "going back to basics" - lots of liquid and protein. I hope I remember that when things aren't going so well :-)

Hi I am a 58 year old female and am scheduled to be banded on June 20th. I have been spending many hours on obesityhelp.com trying to learn all I can about this surgery and this major change to my life. But one thing I notice when I scroll through the "before and after" pictures is that I have yet to find one who was lap banded. I would love to see before and after pictures and read stories about bandsters. Can anyone point me to the right place for that?
