    Hi from Ohio

Hi there! Good luck on your surgery! I am also from Ohio but live in New York now. Where in Ohio are you from? I was from a small town outside of Warren, about 1 hour south east of Cleveland. (Northeast Ohio). Kim

    Dietician---6MONTHS???

THANKS!! BigMomma1981 and TQUAD64, I guess that is what I might be looking at. I am a very impatient person and am not looking forward to a year long process. I worked for a Dr. and know how insurance companies can be real pains and they really have the last say, above and beyond a Dr.'s order, which is very wrong! Thanks guys and good luck on your journey!!
  4. I am also wondering about long distance post-op but my surgeon will only be about 3-3 1/2 hours away, that is still quite a ways to go if I have to go there for everything--dietician, psych..... but I am so rural that they are the closest.
  5. Hi there, you were told to stop smoking first?? OMG!! I never thought of that, I have not started the process yet and did not know of any smoking -vs- lapband issues! I don't kow about giving up food AND smoking! (someone shoot me) When I HAVE tried to quit the patches work great for me, they cut out the cravings almost 100 %, but you have to WANT to quit for it to work. Good luck to you!! Kim

    Hello

Good morning and welcome! Have you already been banded? I have not started the process yet. Kim
  7. I am a diabetic on an oral med and am wondering about diabetic life after the surgery. I know how bad I can feel if I don't get enough to eat or can't eat on time, how does the surgery affect this and how can I take my pills if I am not allowed to take pills?? Someone please give me their experience! :whatchutalkingabout

    Calling Diabetics!

Thank you Bryan and Kari!! Along with losing weight one of the best benefits of getting the Lapband is getting healthy. I am hoping to also cut down or get rid of most or all of my meds, high blood pressure-migraines-GERD, but I have read that you cannot take any pills for quite a while after surgery, so thanks for saying that you can, that makes me feel better! :tongue2: Hoping to one day be diabetes free..........

    Witchy Woman

Wow, you became lactose intollerant AFTER the surgery?? How strange, I feel for you. I am just begining this, I have not even been to the seminer yet so I have a long way to go but I know that there is no worse feeling than being so sick and not being able to drink or eat for a while after a surgery! Hang in there!:cursing:

    Hello Everyone! :-)

Thanks Julie, yes I see it takes some time. Once a month? Is that typical?? I know that it will all be worth it in the end and that this is just the begining of a long HEALTHY journey!!:cursing:
  11. Hi there, nice to join everyone. I am from Northern New York (yes it is freezing up here!!) and hope to have the Lapband surgery sometime in the next 6 months. I did not realize it would take so long, I do not have an appointment for the orientation/seminar until late April. I am very discuraged about that-I was hoping things would move a little faster! I have researched on the net and I have read a lot of your questions and comments on here but of course, I still have a lot of questions. I am 41 years old, 5'7" and 240 lbs, my BMI is 37.7--I have stuggled with my weight since I was 10 years old. You all know the story, tried it all and nothing seems to work for long. I have no will power and need extra help. I think this is the best thing for me and am SO looking for a LIFE change, we alll HAVE to eat to survive but if I had a restirction where I knew I could not overeat AT ALL, I know I could make a change for me and my health, I need that extra help. So my first question is, I see that many of you have to do a PRE-surgery liquid diet. Is this for the severely overweight or for all??? Looking forward to talking to you all!! :cursing:
