Anyone Banded in Saranac Lake, NY??

Hi there! So you already went to there seminar and you are going to your first appointment the 26th? How long between the two?? No, there is no one in Watertown but since you said that, I am wondering why they did not refer me to Syracuse, I am closer to Syracuse and there HAS to be bariatric surgeons there. So what's up with your Hubby? Does he think you don't need the surgery or just scared for you to go through it? This is such a wonderful thing to get you healthy, he'll come around! Is he overweight? Seems he would be more understanding if he was, hhhhmmmm. With my husband I just explained to him what my Dr. had suggested and that I had researched and that I REALLY wanted to do this-that I wanted to get healthy-get off of my medications-and mostly, did not want to die of a heart attack at 45!! He just said then go for it! And he has not talked about it since. (he is very old fashioned) Has your insurance approved you yet? Do you know what you have to do before having the surgery yet? ie: 6 month diet, 6 month PCP check ups? Insurance companies make things so difficult!!! Hang in there! :tongue2: Kim

Anyone Banded in Saranac Lake, NY??

WannaBMe, Thanks for replying!! Its very nice to finally hear from someone in the area! I have been scheduled for the seminar but not until LATE APRIL! I am very upset about that! I really don't want to wait that long, then have to go through 6 months or so with the dietician. UUGGHH! But, they said it was their first available time. I guess I will just keep my head up and keep reading on here! There is So much information here! Good luck to you and keep in touch!! Kim
  5. I saw your pictures, you are gorgeous!! You are an inspiration to us all! Good luck to you! :-)

  6. Hi Kathy, where have you been? Did you enjoy the Holiday?? I did, we had a LOT of snow! I have not been on here a great deal but do look to see if you have written. Hope all if well with you! :-)

  7. Hi Andrealee and Welcome to Lapband talk! I am fairly new also and have not started the process yet. You said you are 275, what is your height? Your BMI is important. Most insurances cover the Lapband but have many requirements that go with it. You say you are healthy, you must not have any thing like diabetes, high blood pressure, sleep apnea? They play a big role in getting approved. Read thru the posts here, especially in the Pre-surgery section and you will get a ton of information. Also ask away! Everyone on here is so helpfull and will answer all your questions. The Lapband is just a tool to getting you healthy, we all struggle so much thru the years with trying to lose weight with no results. This tool is a great help in that process. If you find that the Lapband IS a good option for you then you would have to talk to your personal Dr. and get his/her opinoin and then he would refer you to a surgeon. It is a lengthy process but well worth it. Read on, I think you will like what you hear!! Good luck!! Kim
  8. AHAHAHAH You are so lucky!! Congrats. I put myself on a diet on Thurs, two slim fast shakes and one meal a day. Keeping it around 1000 to 1200 calories a day and I think I am dying!! I did this because on this site called thedailyplate.com you can calculate your intake for a day and I did it on Wednesday and I had eaten over 3200 IN ONE DAY!!! And I thought that was a good day!! :-( Well, 4 days down and I do feel OK, not hungry really, but my mind says I am and wants MUNCHIES! H> E> L> P> This is horrible, I need the extra tool of the LapBand! Good luck to ya!! :-)

  9. Kathy, where'd you go? I have not heard from you in a couple days!!

    Question about liquid diets

Thanks guys, kinda what I figured but would like to hear from you Pro's! LOL YIPPEE :tt1:
  13. I was wondering, as I hope to soon be on a liquid diet, while you are consuming only clear or thin liquids, are your bowel movements pretty liquidy also? I can only assume they would be but would not look forward to that. :tt1: Is that how it is?? Inquiring minds want to know :tt1: Kim
  14. Have you talked to your Dr. yet about getting the Lapband? It can be a lengthy process, so you should start now!

  15. That was the fisrt available opening. They have 2 a month which seat about 25 people, so that is the only time I can go. I have to drive about 3-3 1/2 hours to get there which is hwere my surgeon will be also. I am in Northern New York and very rural, he is the closest. UUUGGGHHHH!

  16. Hi Kathy, I am awaiting the seminar/orientation which is not until April28!! First available, very disappointed. Am hoping to talk my Dr. into talking to my insurance Co. and seeing what I need to do to start NOW, sometimes you have to do 6 months of seeing a dietician. I dont want to wait 10 months to have the surgery, i want it NOW!! LOL. Just being impatient! Kim

    New to the site

Hi there, I am new as well and have not started anything yet, BUT.......Please read thru some of the posts here and also the FAQ's, there is an enormous amount of information here and you will see, it IS very effective! Good luck to you!! :tt1: kim
  22. Hi Poodle.me!! I have not been banded yet or even gone through any pre-op, but I have realized something about myself. I think a lot of my food issues ARE in my head!! I have realized that I have a food addiction and that I eat when I am not hungry and pretty much ONLY eat to satisfy my mouth!! So, in a sense, it is all in my head. With a food addiction you are always thinking you are hungry and looking for the food that would taste really great. Stay in contact with the people on here!! There is a lot of great advise, it WILL get easier, especially when you are on the pre-op and post-op diets! I promise! Good luck yo you!! :frown: Kim

    hello out there

Hi Tommy from NJ!!! (haha) I am new also. I have not begun the process yet. Good luck with your surgery! You should find a lot of helpful info on here. Kim from NY
  24. Does everyone, or mostly everyone, have to see a dietician for 6 months prior to their surgery? I have seen a lot of posts about this. And if you are required to lose a certain amount of weight before being approved by the insurance co., doesn't that give the insurance co. a good reaon to deny you? Because you lost weight?? Kim

    Dietician---6MONTHS???

THANKS, jmegirl and KyBandChick!! WOW! 18 month diet?? Are they nuts? Self pay would be the way to go, but... Yes, onsurance companies think they are God and unfortunetly, they win in the end!
