Howdie from Virginia!!! I'm a February gal too. I will be banded on February 24th (3 weeks from today). Can't wait!!! Good luck ya'll!!!

I will be banded on February 24th and need to choose which band (lap or realize). I've done my homework and still can't decide which band. Any suggestions??

Thanks for the input. I'm still debating. I meet with my doctor again on Wednesday and will sit down with him and make my decision then. My cousin has the lap and she is very happy with her choice. My aunt has lap, but she was not given a choice. I've visited both websites and like the realize on-line support and website better than the lap band, but that will not be my deciding factor. I'm from Charlottesville and Dr. Trahan is doing my surgery. I'm approx. 90lbs overweight with many health issues (type II diabetes, high bp, reflex disease, etc).

yes, I have actually "held" both bands, looked at website, read user blogs, etc. and still have no clue. Do you mind me asking which band you chose and why?

All, I was approved by Southern Health and will be banded on February 24, 2009. Whew!! It was a long 3 months!!!

Thanks for sharing. I was just approved by my insurance and will be banded February 24th. I'm still debating on which band...my dr. let's me choose. Any suggestions?

Hi everyone!! Barb, any updates to report? I went for my last 3 month documentation visit with my PCP. Talked with Dr. Trehan's office. They will make sure they have everything they need and fax to Southern Health. They say it takes about a week for them to either approve or deny. Keep you fingers crossed. During my 3 month waiting period, I lost no weight. I actually gained a few pounds. Go figure!!

Great!! I really like him. So update me on your progress. Its a motivator while I go thru my 3 month period. I'm presently 40.2BMI but also have health factors (diabetes, high blood pressure, etc.)

Thanks for the info. I go for my 2nd documented appointment next week. Did Dr. Trehan do your surgery?
