Tricare Approval or Denial??
haroldrussi replied to JamieNP's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I had the same but in reading the details on the TRIWEST site I found my answers. Tricare will call you in a few days as well if you have not figured out what mods they recommended you can have them to clairify it. Good luck -
ummmmmmm, sex after banding?
haroldrussi replied to spice's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As soon as your pain from the surgery will allow it. I waited a week but being a male the time might be different for you. -
How soon after surgery did you start to excercise?
haroldrussi replied to lapbandgirl2009's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was walking the day of the surgery and when I got home and on the third day I was up to a mile a day. Walking is your friend. I was walking my two 80lb dogs at two weeks the mile. This past weekend I was out at a SCCA event working corners so I walked 2+ miles each day. -
Nothing for the guys, go figure.....

surgical tape over incissions...
haroldrussi replied to erinshel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Try using baby oil and that will soften the glue allowing the tape to come off. This worked great for me but don't rush it. I took mine off at the two week point. I let it soak for 10-15 minutes and the glue turned very soft. Good Luck. -
I gotta ask about sex?
haroldrussi replied to BearSpiritGuide's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I tried at the two week point and was sore for two days. After the third week all was well and with the weight loss things were much better. -
I used the ice pack for 4-5 days then changed to a heating pad for 2 weeks. It is a lot better now but still a little pain if I lean on the port (of course). It does get better.

Walk, Walk, Walk and try extra strenght Gas-X -
Mine is a 1948 Chevy P/U with a 350/350, Mustang II front sus. and four link 10 bolt rear end. I have only drove it around the block once, waiting for vintage license plates to put it on the road.

I will be doing all my aftercare in town (Omaha) with Dr. White. He also did my wife's bypass surgery on 6 April. We are both doing great. My port site is still a bulge that Dr. White looked at closely and said if it continues to be that way he can move the port to another location. First fill went great as well and I have noticed the restriction but not as much as I would have thought but know that it is only the first fill and it might take a few to get to the sweet spot. I should be able to soo how it works while flying next week. Hope I don't have any problems.

When should I start feeling normal?
haroldrussi replied to StephOnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Well I had my surgery on a Wed and went back to work on the following Monday. I was walking a mile everyday by then so my pain was not all that bad by then. The tape on my insisions did not come off after two weeks (my Dr. said they could come off after 10 days so I waited an extra 4 days) and at that I used baby oil to soften the glue to get them off. I still have some pain where the port is but that is mostly because of the port being attached to the muscle wall and it needs to adjust to the attachment. -
There was very very little pain and it was just the numbing shot that had the slight burn. The fill was painless. My was done with the floroscope and 3.5 cc was added at the first fill. It appeared to only have a straw size opening after the fill and I went on a liquid diet for 48 hours then back to mushys. Maybe additional foods next week at the 6 week point.

Special K20 Protein Water
haroldrussi replied to Kage's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I mix it with the 24oz water bottle because I like the little weaker strenght by mixing it with the extra water and it helps me get to the 64oz we are supposed to drink each day. I have one K20 each morning and one each afternoon as my snacks. The strawberry/kiwi flavor is also great. -
Crazyy Cravings anyone?!?
haroldrussi replied to StephOnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I have been lucky, no cravings for candy yet.... The chocolate ISOPURE shakes for breakfast mixed with milk have taken care of my sweet tooth. -
Crazyy Cravings anyone?!?
haroldrussi replied to StephOnee's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Oh yes, beef jerky is what I want more than anything. And I can have it as long as it is chewed to the mushy stage. Also hot and spicy pork rinds again chewed to the mushy stage. Nothing to drink for 30-60 minutes after eating either one. Both really give me the feeling that I have really chewed on something and curb the cravings. My sodium level has been low for the blood tests I have had both pre and post OP. -
How are all the March 09 Lucky Losers doing? Updates everyone!
haroldrussi replied to LifeStartsNow's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Doing great, had my first fill on Tuesday, was back on liquid for Tuesday, Wed, and Thursday. Back to mushy's today and maybe a little meat over the weekend. -
How big is your band and how much were your fills?
haroldrussi replied to cookiebaby's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I just got 3.5cc in my Realize band (9cc band I think) and am on the liquid diet for a couple days so no telling if it is very restricted yet but with the fluoroscope during the fill it looked like the passage was only about the size of a small straw. Dr White does all his fills with a fluoroscope to monitor how restricted he has made you. -
Back Pain Question
haroldrussi replied to teresa0199's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I would expect it as gas or your new full indication. In reading all the posts that I have in this forum each person has a different indication of being full. That is the same indication that I get that I am full. I have only had refried beans twice since the surgery and they only effected me the same as any other food I have had. -
Finally under 200!!!
haroldrussi replied to klutzyazhel's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
OUTSTANDING, I can't wait for that same number in 35lbs.... -
I have to confess....
haroldrussi replied to IWannaBeSkinny's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I went to a support group meeting last night and was surprised by the number of people who admitted they had cheated since getting the band. They were there to get the support to get back in line so if there is a support group in your area maybe that would also help anyone who is having trouble keeping to the plan. -
""I have chronic open wounds in my skin folds that keep popping open and draining."" My wife has this problem and we have found out that Anti Fungus powder (like foot powder or jock itch powder with AF) used twice a day after a good cleaning will clear it up in a day or so. She usually does not tell me the problem till it seems bad to me and I have to remind her and assist with the powder and cleaning. Can't help with the knee, good luck...

soar around the port area
haroldrussi replied to Munequita's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Yes I had the same thing and my Dr. said it is normal but if it turns red or feverish to call in and he would check it. You should also check with your Dr. But I questioned it about a weekago (my three week point) and tht is what I was told... -
First two months What did you lose?
haroldrussi replied to daningje's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
As you can see by my ticker I have lost 45lbs, 20lbs on pre0p diet and 25lbs since 4 March LB surgery. But have lost nothing since last Friday. I have been usually under 700 calories (realizemysuccess.com figures it for me) I usually just count carbs but the site figures both. But I am the only male that has responded to your question and as my Dr. told my wife who gets a bypass next Monday, males tend to lose the weight faster. Keep trying and it will start working for us all. I can't say that I have not been hungry but I want the tool to work. -
Vote: Would you be interested in a local 5K run?
haroldrussi replied to TklMeSkinny's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
Yes I get bored easily so most of the locations I travel to have 5K run/walks each week on Saturdays so I would spend the hour doing the 5K then find something to do the rest of the day. I walk about a mile each day so a 5K (3mile) is not hard.
