    Texans Bandsters

Hello all, I live in Van Vleck which is south of Houston. Little bitty town. I was banded in Corpus Christi by Dr. Glen Griffin and he is a jewel. I was banded on Feb. 3rd. I'm down 30 lbs. and hoping that my next fill will be my sweet spot.
  4. bandedhhope.. I just today noticed that I had a message. All went well with my surgery no problems.

I've slowed down the weight loss as I've only lost 18 lbs 8 lbs was pre-surgery. I'm hoping that with my first fill on the 16th I will have more restriction hopeing for more loss in weight. How have you been doing?

  5. I was banded on the 3rd and didn't have any shoulder pain. But I did have the gas in my upper chest. I suggest like everyone else.. walk walk walk... the more I walked the better it got. So no not everyone gets it. And it depends on the level of pain one can handle as to how bad it is. To me the heprin shot was a lot worse than the gas by far. PS.. I also used a heating pad on my back and it made things it seemed to move around a bit. Good Luck and it is really not so bad.
  6. Had a great holiday. I'm also 15 days post-op and doing great. Even so that I'm sleeping on my tummy. I really never had sever pain... I thought the heprin shot they gave in the hospital was more pain then I've had post op. I promise that thing smarted. Now I'm so confused on the pureed and blended foods and what to eat. I'm making chili tonight and going to blend some for me. Hope that counts as blended. I'd really like to get my Protein from my foods rather than the shakes... I'm just sick of sweet stuff.
  7. Here is a great link for protein shakes http://www.lapbandtalk.com/f82/200-protein-shake-recipes-49774/ this has really helped a lot for me. Good Luck all!
  8. If you are refering to me as I have been on the drug called ACTOS (which is a diabetic med, of which I'm not a diabetic) and it worked. I just had surgery the 3rd. and my dr. said my liver was beautiful and that the medacine really made a difference. He didn't know about ACTOS for a fatty liver. Wishing you all good healing and great surgeries. It really is not bad at all. Little soreness but bareable..
  9. Hello all.. I was banded on 2/3 and have been on a clear liquid only diet... (no shakes yet) so everything is sweet... I hate the chicken broth so I bought chicken noodle Soup and drained off the liquid and that was yummy.. everything else though has been so sweet even if its sugar-free. I was so desperate today that I drank pickle juice. Yummm... I'm just craving something salty. I'm haveing a party at midnight with my daughter and MIL to Celebrate that I made it the full week on nothing... cream Soups and yogurt never looked so good. It's funny how drs. differ on the pre/post-op diets. The only other thing is that I have some heaviness in my chest when standing or walking for long periods. Guess that is where the band is and the soreness of the stomache. I have been able to sleep on my side and stomach for a bit and was so tickled to do it. Wish everyone else a speedy recovery.

    FEB 3rd!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

Hey all I'm checking in FINALLY. The surgery went well.. Just lots of gas. I'm on the week of Clear Liquids and am so looking forward to Tuesday as I don't like broths. I have strained some chicken noodle soup and that was pretty good but now I'm getting tired of the sweet taste in my mouth from all the Jello, juices and popcicles. But all in all things are great. Still not running any marathons yet but hope to one day. Glad that everyone has had successful surgeries as well.... Tam PS had a little scare during surgery so have to be on an antibiotic which is giving me the runs and lots of extra gas. Not so fun.
  11. goodluck on your surgery tomorrow!! I am so nervous about it but I know we are going to do great! Please let me know how you are doing as soon as you can!! XOXO

    FEB 3rd!!!! WOOT WOOT!!!

I have to be at the hospital at 6am tomorrow.. I'm not nervous at all.. I really feel this is a good thing and can't wait to start this portion of my life. This is going to be the year of the shrinking me. Good Luck to all us Feb. 3rd bansters... Tam
  13. Froggin ..............Very interesting.... Really never heard or thought of it before.. will research it a bit more. My sil does a colon cleanse but nothing like what you do. hummm.
  14. Welcome on board ladies! It's going to be a bumpy ride but in the end worth it. I wanted to know about the liver pills.... I'm taking Actos which is a diabetic pill but has been shown to take the fat from the liver and move it to the outside of it. I've been on it for two years and it has worked for me. I'm hoping that eating right after the surgery and exercising more will help in stopping the pills. They are not cheap. NEWKID... my dr. is Dr. Griffin... wonderful bedside mannors. He is also very thorough in explaining everything. He takes his time and dosen't rush you in and out like cattle. His office staff are very nice as well. I highly reccomend him.
  15. Kristal just wondering who your dr. is. Mine is Dr. Griffin. I plan on going all liquid Sunday and Monday just to be on the safe side. I also take a liver pill to remove all the fat from my liver that I've been on for a couple of years. Dr. Griffin is interested to see how it looks with the meds. I'm hoping all is good. I'm having mine done at Bay Area, they say it is a really nice hospital. I'm from south of Houston. Keep in touch my email is exumtam@gmail.com if you want to stay in touch easier then on here. Tam PS Good luck!
