Hi Losing_It_In_Texas,
I am satisfied with the the surgery, but for the last two weeks I have not lost a pound since I started solid foods. I am still at 31 pounds lost. So I am feeling a little disappointed although everyone tells me that it is okay. I am going to start attending some support group meetings for pointers.
Are you continuing to shed the pounds?

*************************************** Hi Rosemary! Let me know if this works for you. I had my first fill on December 30, 2008. I have only lost 1 pound since going on solids. I feel like I am more hungry since my fill than I was before my fill. I was thinking about going back on the shakes for a little while. Smiles

Hi Losing_It_In_Texas! I am Smiles from Arkansas. When did you get banded? I was banded on December 3rd in Little Rock, Arkansas.

******************************************** Hello and Happy New Year! I did not have any pain with my fill at all. With the fill, I stay full longer. I have had no problem eating. I had to go back on full liquids for 48 hours and then on the mushies for 48 hours. Then on Sunday, I can start regular food. So far, I have not gotten anything stuck. I have no problem swallowing small pills. I think I am going to purchase some chewable calcium pills. I hope your fill goes well.

***************************************** Hi Kim: I am Jackie and not Annie. Hopefully this message was intended for me. How are you? I worry daily about getting enough protein. I definitely do not want any hair loss. Have you had your first fill yet?

********************************** My fill went fine. He only gave me 2ccs. So far I have not gotten anything stuck. My fill did not occur until 4 p.m. and by then I was starving. Nothing seemed to satisfy me until I actually ate some refried beans today. Tomorrow is supposed to be my first day of mushies after the fill. So in the morning, I will probably have cheese eggs and a shake for lunch. The doctor also put me on Citracal+D (1200 mg). I bought the petites which are smaller and supposed to be easier to swallow. Wish me luck on not getting it stuck. I was disappointed because I lost only 1 inch in the hips, but I lost 3 inches in the waist. Well, let me try to get in some more fluids. I seem to be having a hard time doing this. I do not want to become dehydrated. Take care! Jackie

Thanks JMS462001 and TQUADS64 for all of the good information. I will try mixing the tuna. If it is too wet, does that take away from the Protein? And I will take you all's advice and try samples of protein before being a specific brand because everyone's taste is different. Have a great day!

Hi Laura, I am going to try the egg beaters. I have been eating cheese eggs cooked softly and I have not had a problem. I will take your advice and wait to eat tuna when I begin my solids. Keep your fingers crossed that my fill goes well tomorrow. Jackie

Thanks for all of your helpful replies. I am not a big fan of tuna, but I will try to eat it. Does it have to be straight from the container? And I am going to try the vanilla Myoplex. I was banded on 12/3/08 and my doctor recommends no sugar, fat-free diet. So far I have lost 31 pounds. On 12/30/08, I will get my first fill. Then on 12/31/08, I can try solids. I hope solids does not hinder me from losing pounds. Have a wonderful Monday!

Thanks for the reply. I have been eating cottage cheese, but this time I bought the lowfat cottage cheese as it does not taste as good. Thanks for the helpful information. Have a great day!

Hi, I am smiles and was banded on December 3, 2008. Since the surgery, I am not doing well with drinking one shake everyday. And I am also worried about getting enough protein. Is the Wal-mart protein that you mentioned in a previous message taste okay?

_________________________________________ Hi Leslie: I was banded with the realize band on December 3, 2008. So far I have lost 23 pounds but I am afraid I may have gain some weight because I had an allergic reaction and had to have a steroid shot. I started the mushies a little early. Since the surgery, I have a hard time acquiring a taste for the Protein shakes. Were you able to eat whole grain crackers during the mushie stage without any problems? Right now, I am kind of stuck on cheese eggs and cheese grits with lowfat cheese. The weather has not been favorable, so I have not been able to exercise like I want to. Do you have any suggestions that would help during the mushie stage? I will return to the doctor for my first fill on December 30, 2008. I pray that I have not gained any weight. My doctor is not very lenient and I am trying hard to lose the weight. Within 2 months, I would love to have lost another 25 or 30 pounds or even more. Smiles12 (Jackie) :blushing:

Hi Everyone! My surgery is scheduled for 9:30 tomorrow morning. I have been reading this site for a couple of weeks now and I am very impressed with the sharing of knowledge and experience. I will be looking for recipes to get through the liquid stage. I am excited and feel that everything will go well. Over the past 2 weeks I have lost 18 pounds and I have quite a ways to go. Wish me luck tomorrow.

My husband's surgery went well. Today is my first day back to work. I have worked a 10 hour day. I only intended to work 8 hours, but time slipped away from me. I actually feel pretty good today. Since November 16, 2008, I have lost 23 lbs. The day of surgery, I had lost 18 lbs. Since I constantly feel full right now, it is hard for me to get enough liquids down. I have been trying to drink one Protein shake a day. And I have been eating egg drop Soup and some cream soup. I know the egg drop soup is not low calorie, but I had to have a change. Continue to wish me luck. Keep striving!!!!!! I am glad you are feeling good. Take care!

Hi lucyw, I am glad that everything went well for you. I went out for a while on Saturday and I must say the walk was good for me. Today my husband had eye surgery and this really wore me out today because it was an exceptionally long day. Regarding how much food to eat, my instructions are pretty vague too. I'm staying with about 2 tablespoons per meal. So far, I have been comfortably full. But if I were you, I would call back to my doctor's nurse or nutritionist and ask that question. Good luck!

Hi Mattipey, since being banded on December 3rd today is my first day of really feeling the hunger. I was told by my doctor's nurse that I could have cheesy grits, fat free creamy Soups mixed with skim milk, and diluted fruit juice. Also he wants me to consume one Protein Shake every day. Today is the first day that I have attempted a Protein shake, but I could not drink it all. Remember to sip your drinks. I did not do this yesterday and I was miserable for a long time before it actually went down. And today is the first day that I have not felt bloated. If you have get any suggestions from anyone, please share them. Also the doctor took me off my diabetes medication, he cut my blood pressure medication in half. I look forward to constantly feeling better as time goes by. I am going to return to work on Wednesday, Dec. 10. I wish you a speedy recovery.
