  1. Happy 30th Birthday teresa0199!

  2. I had my surgery on 3/12, so tomorrow I will be 4 weeks post op. This morning I had a little pain in my stomach and it hurt to walk. It felt like a pulled muscle. Tonight that pain has gotten worse. When I took my son to the grocery store with me, he threw a fit where I was required to pick him up (he weighs about 30 lbs.). Now it hurts when I walk and my stomach feels like a gigantic pulled muscle. Make sense? Did I just pull a muscle or did I do something wrong like eat too much? Thanks!
  3. I'm a little over 3 weeks post op as I was banded on 3/12. I have followed my doctor's orders to the letter regarding my diet. I'm on the soft food diet as of now. Prior to the surgery, I was on the pre op diet where I lost 11 lbs. in 2 weeks. I've lost a total of 18 lbs. now. Yes, that's a lot of weight, but I haven't lost anything since the first week post op. Since I started soft/mushy foods, I've not lost. In fact, I've gained. I don't get my first fill for another 3-5 weeks. Here's what my typical diet is: Breakfast-Protein shake 1/2 Apple juice (TMI-To help with constipation) Lunch-3 oz. Turkey lunch meat 1 oz. of cheese 3 crackers Snack- Low fat String Cheese Dinner-3 oz. baked fish 2 TB-Green Beans 2 TB-Mashed Potatoes My Water intake is not as good as it could be, but I do get in around 48 oz. a day. In addition, I'm walking 30 minutes a night on my treadmill 3-4 times a week. What gives? Why is that scale not budging?
  4. Today I'm 3 weeks post off which means I am now eating soft foods. Every time that I eat beans, I get a pain in my back right underneath my shoulder blade. I've also noticed this pain if I have eaten too fast. What is it? Gas? Thanks!

    Banded 3/12/09

I also was banded in Rockwall on 3/12. I had HORRIBLE nausea the first day; however, I didn't have many gas pains. As of now, I'm starving. My three protein shakes, water, low fat yogurt, etc. just isn't doing it. Congrats!
  6. My doctor had me on a pre op diet for two weeks wherein I lost about 10 lbs. Since the surgery on 3/12, I have lost 2 more lbs., but I gained a lb. of that back. I AM SO HUNGRY! I'm following the post op diet to the letter with 3 protein shakes a day, sugar free jello, low fat/calorie yogurt, broth, skim milk, etc., but I don't feel like I'm losing. I've read that until the first fill, healing is the main goal. Am I doing something wrong? Am I overeating somehow? Thanks for your input!
  7. My surgery date will be March 12, 2009. YEA!!!

    Introductions

I'm also from the Dallas area. I am having my surgery done in Rowlette. Good luck to you!
  9. After being denied the first time, TRS Active Care/BCBS approved me after my surgeon's office sent an appeal coupled with a letter from my family doctor stating that the band was medically necessary because of my diabetes and after many tried and failed attempts at weight loss programs. She also used the words morbidly obese more times than I ever wanted to see! At any rate, I just found out yesterday that the appeal was approved, so I haven't scheduled a date yet. In fact, I don't even think my surgeon's office knows it has been approved as I called BCBS late yesterday afternoon. They submitted the appeal on the 17th and I was approved yesterday! That's pretty quick, in my opinion. I am hoping to schedule my surgery for spring break as I am a teacher. Having that week off to get back on my feet should be enough. I'm just ecstatic to begin my journey. I am only 26 years old, and I have been diabetic for over year. After the diagnosis, I lost 33 lbs. on Weight Watchers but didn't maintain it because I was always hungry. I got sick of the deprivation. As a result of the weight gain, I now have hypertension to add to the list. I weigh 250 lbs. My surgeon thinks that I am the perfect candidate for the surgery. I know this isn't a magic bullet as I have done research and have two friends who have been banned; however, I think it is my best shot at a healthy lifestyle. :tongue_smilie:
