  1. Dr. Nirmul is my surgeon, yes I have a pre-op diet. 2 protein shakes, 2 meals per day. Elminate fatty foods, etc.the pre-op diet is based off of your BMI & it can be anywhere from 3 weeks to 3 days or not at all if you're low on the BMI spectrum. The purpose of the pre-op is to shrink your liver & prepare your body for the change. People who don't pre-op diet tend to have more headaches, irritability & even depression from the change of food, sudden lack of carbs, etc... But it all depends on the purpose. Your Dr. is a specialist so I would feel confident that he knows what he's doing. I had a friend who had no pre-op diet & no real post-op diet or restrictions after. She was at the borderline of having to have the surgery, actually had to gain 20lbs so that may be the difference. Overall I would feel confident in your surgeon and I love love love the Scottsdale Shea hospital -the only reason I didn't use him is because I'm impatient & implusive, I went with the quickest availability
