Possible solution for PB's and restriction pain

Ok, My next question would be, you eat what you want, just less, and you do NOT feel hungry? How does it help when you get cravings during PMS? I get a strong craving for chocolate and salty food. But I would still lose weight? How many calories per day do you think you are getting? Pam

Possible solution for PB's and restriction pain

LAD Thanks for the encouragement. I am back & forth whether I think I should get the band. I am 218 for 3 years, but haven't really dieted or anything so I wasn't sure it was time for what seems extreme to me at this point. Also, wanted to know of your Experience with Dr. Kuri, since I am still trying to decide who I feel comfortable with. pam

PB? Worse Experience of My Life!!!

April, I don't consider it rambling. That was all good information for me because I literally know nothing about this as of two days ago. So thanx for your openness and honesty. Its helping me make a decision that should change my life for the better, overall, despite a few inconveniences. Thanks Pam

Would I get the Band again?

Well Janet, Thank you for that. I don't even know what the other options are other than gastric bypass, and I thought that was extreme. I believe I am going to go with this. I have only talked to Dr. Rodriguez's ofc and they sound knowledgeable and friendly. That is probably what I am going to do. Have a few health issues to deal with but if I get a green light I believe I'll soon be a "bandster". Thanks again

I am not even a newbie, I a virgin. And that decription would have been funnier had I not been freaking out. My question would now be, was it worth all this ladies? Pam:eek:

Hi Penni60, I am still in the deciding phase, so I appreciate the experiences of these "bandsters". I want to make sure I am not putting my life in the hands of a nut. I understand about not advertising, but personal experience is ok, isn't it? Needed the doctor info Pam

Possible solution for PB's and restriction pain

I became aware of my deep fear of choking when I began having anxiety attacks and was afraid to swallow. When I saw a therapist we discovered that my fear stemmed from my little sister having seizures, stopped breathing & at times she would be eating when she had one and would choke. My parents were young and neglectful so I felt responsible for her. So when the anxiety spilled over that is how it manifested itself. Today when I began reading about pb's ( which I still am unsure what that means) and slime, and pain on swallowing, my anxiety swelled over again. Thanks for educating me so I don't have to be afraid. Pam

Possible solution for PB's and restriction pain

I haven't been banded yet but was thinking seriously about it. I am concerned about this though because I have a fear of choking. Is that possible or is it just uncomfortable? And can it be avoided? Is it from eating too fast, taking too big of a bite or what, I don't know? I don't want to be afraid. I really want to lose weight and I really don't want to go to the extreme of a permanent gastric bypass. Can you alleviate my fears? It is worth all this, with a "port" sticking out of your body, and slime and pain? Pam

God! What is slime? I haven't gotten banded just thinking about it...so this is not good news to me Pam

Would I get the Band again?

I am considering and investigating the lapband. Now I am feeling afraid because I am hearing that people are gaining weight once it is removed. That would be my worst nightmare. Do you automatically gain, do you feel more hungry because it is removed? Has anyone had their's removed and maintained their new weight? Can someone please get back to me? Pam
