What part of Mississippi are you from? I see Dr. David Carroll in Jackson, MS.

I cannot eat breast meat at all... but dark meat goes down much easier. I use boneless thigh meat in my dishes and you would be amazed how much easier it goes down.

I say go to the Chinese place and get some soup.... you will soon be able to eat hang on!

Completely Unfilled & Still Restricted
antivicky replied to stella's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am almost the same way. I have had an unfill and I am still very tight. I am curious to see what the Doctors tell you. I also had my band in Mexico. I completely dehydrated a few weeks ago and had to go to the emergency room for fluids. However they could not unfill and no Doctors on call could. They will not touch you unless they carry bariatric insurance and nobody on call did. So I suffered until I could get to my fill doc to get an unfill. I could not even swallow my saliva... thought I was going to die!!!!!!!!! -
I am in Mobile... do you live in Mobile? I wish you well. I absolutely love my band. It was slow go in the beginning but I am in a good spot now. Good Luck!

YES........ IT IS GREAT WHEN YOU HAVE THE RIGHT RESTRICTION. I FIND MYSELF HAVING TO MAKE MYSELF EAT! If you have the right restriction you cannot over eat even if you try! Sure you can take in too many calories with milkshakes and such... but even with a milkshake a few sips and I am way too full!

For those of you that have had gallbladder surgery post-band... did your Dr. remove your fill for the surgery? I need surgery but do not want to start over with my fills I am so close to my goal weight. I have an appt. on the 14th with my band Dr. and will find out what he says. :help: By the way I forgot how to change my ticker... I have lost 60lbs.

I would love to go! Please keep us updated. I never knew about the January trip or I would have planned on that one. I think if you continue to post and more people see it your response would be greater. Thanks

Do We have to Live with Acid Reflux?
antivicky replied to Flashover's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
This is not a solution but it does help me and allow me to sleep. When I wake up with reflux I have a cough drop on my night stand handy and put it in my mouth. It is the only thing that kills the acid taste and keeps me from choking. I am then able to fall back to sleep and normally do not wake up again. I keep the cough drop in my mouth while sleeping (I am sure this is not great for your teeth but it sure beats not sleeping). Sometimes if I feel I ate something too late I put one in my mouth when going to bed. GOOD LUCK! -
I Know Someone Who Had Their Surgery The Day Before Me And She Had A Severe Cough The Week After Surgery And Had To Have Band Removed! Be Careful

To funny AngelaT I had the same problem with Cathy that you did. She was so rude and unprofessional that is why I decided not to go with Dr. Rumbaut. I had read wonderful things about him so that is why I inquired... I think he would do much better if he cut ties with her. I spoke with her several times and one time she was so short with me and ugly that she even thought twice about and called me back and gave a very un-sincere apology. I thought if this is going to be main contact and if I have any problems then I am in huge trouble so she was a VERY big red flag and I decided to go elsewhere. Good Luck to everyone!:nervous

Obesity as a Pre Existing Condition? WLS for Dummies
antivicky replied to sherilynn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thank you for your reply. I am may not have been clear... BCBS would not cover and that is why I was self pay... Definity Health is the plan that I can go for during open enrollment and they do cover the procedure (little late for me now)... I was just wondering as an example if I had to have a port replaced (not an emergency) do you think they would cover that? I hate to pick up Definity if they would not cover any of the procedures... because I would still have BCBS with my Husband. It would be an additional $80 a month but it would be worth it if they would pay in the vent I had a problem. Thanks again for your reply! Any info would be appreciated. -
Obesity as a Pre Existing Condition? WLS for Dummies
antivicky replied to sherilynn's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I am in my open enrollment period also. I had BCBS with my DH and it did not cover surgery... I was self pay and had the surgery in May. I am considering signing up with my Company (Definity Health) because I have heard they cover most things with the band... but is that after the fact also???? If I have a complication will they consider it pre-existing and not cover??? -
I had what my Doc suspected was a small leak... so what he did was treat me by giving me a fill with omniplaque instead of saline to see if it would take care of the problem.... BINGO it has. I am no longer leaking. I am also SELF PAY. I know that some say you should not do a fill with omniplaque... but just as many say it is fine. My Surgeon is a GREAT surgeon so I do not think he would do anything to harm me or my band.

It will get better. I had my band on 5/19/06 (10cc) and it was not until 5 weeks ago and my first fill that I was able to lose any weight at all. I began to think I had made the biggest mistake in my life and felt as though my husband may be feeling all the money we put out was a waste (he never said that). Short story was I did have a small leak that was cleared up with omniplaque 5 weeks ago and I have lost 14lbs in the past 5 weeks finally. I remember before starting to lose anything getting on here and reading for some type of help or answers because so many of the people you see on here loses tons of #'s from the get go... but I think if you dig and read more you will see just as many are going through the same exact thing you are and I did. Everyone is different... but the day will come when things click... and trust me I never thought they would for me!!! Good luck to everyone!!!

Anyone use Dr. David Carroll/ Jackson, MS?
antivicky replied to StephanieRaye's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
I have had one fill with him and really loved him! -
Dr. Cynthia Jones in Ruston, LA 318-255-1212 will do fills on other docs patients for $250.00.

I am just wondering of the people that have the Inamed Band on average how many fills did you have before you felt good restrictions. I have read it takes fewer fills on the Inamed band than on the Swedish band to find the sweet spot.

Inamed ... How many fills?
antivicky replied to antivicky's topic in General Weight Loss Surgery Discussions
I go for my second fill this week... I had no restricitions with first fill so I am hoping to get some with this fill.:clap2: -
Did you find anyone? I know of one in Jackson, MS. They charge $150 for fill but make you wait 10 weeks for fill and require that you have the Inamed band. I am on the Gulf and I am looking too so please update me if you find any fill Doctors around here.
