Question For Ladies With Pcos Who Got Pregnant After Gastric Sleeve Surgery
ichefmastersgirl replied to Estelle's topic in Pregnancy with Weight Loss Surgery
Hi ladies.....there is hope. I was diagnosed with PCOS when I was 20 always been overweight and never ovulated. It took me 8 yrs to conceive my daughter who is now 13yrs old I always told her she was my miracle baby:) After my daughter I was still not ovulating never had a period and the PCOS was just as bad. I ended up getting a divorce. I am now remarried and happy as can be. So now at the age of 37 I decided at my highest weight of 330lbs to get weight loss surgery done otherwise my husband would never have a chance to have children. I choose the Sleeve due to the issues everyone was having with the band and gastric bypass. So lets skip ahead once I started losing weight I started to ovulate became pregnant very quickly and the Dr said it is due to all the hormones being stored in my fat cells and when you lose the fat all these hormones are released and that is why you need to be very careful right after surgery. Well on a sad note I did lose that child but once again in 2 months was pregnant we also lost that child was very distraught and emotional so the doctor suggested birth control for a few months to regulate my hormones and take a break and to not have to worry about getting pregnant. So I took his advice. I took birth control for 2 months then stopped taking it and bam once again I was pregnant but once again we lost it. That happened on July 9, 2011. As all you ladies know that PCOS can not be cured weight loss can help with many symptoms such as ovulation. But you still have the high risk of miscarriages. After each loss they have you wait to have a complete cycle before trying again and we always do...but in July we also had a trip to Vegas planned and we ended up getting pregnant AGAIN!!!! I am now just about over all this baby stuff not wanting to go through all the pain and heartache of losing all my children. So my husband and I agreed that if we lost this one we would be done. So now it is December I am now 22weeks along and baby is doing good. We know it is a little girl we will be naming her EMMA. So now with the sleeve they do not believe that my miscarriages were connected that it is due to the PCOS. I do have to supplement with a Protein shake called Monster Milk due to no weight gain and low calorie intake. My 18 week ultra sound shows her growing right on time except for her stomach and it is a week and a half behind but my Dr believes that is due to the low calorie intake from me. And now that I am drinking this Monster Milk she should be able to catch up. Sorry so long and please feel free to ask any questions. It has been a long hard road for us but I believe in April 2012 (same month I had my surgery done) we will have out little bundle of joy to Celebrate. Oh and by the way husband said since it is a girl we will have to try one more time: -

I am doing ok! I have become very sensitive to a lot of milk products but I can seem to drink the powder Syntrax 5.0 protein powder mixed with water. No morning sickness so I am very lucky there. Will be going in fro my appointment on Tuesday. I found that if I just graze through the day I can get more calories in. Thanks everyone for your support. -

So I am lucky to get in 1000cal I was never low carving so ok there tested to see if was in ketosis just to make sure! My question is why did they say no protein shakes? They told me to drink 2 to 3 a day! Feeling good just some fatigue! -
I am about 10 weeks out of my band to sleeve revision and doing well lost 31 lbs so far (115 lbs total with band). And then yesterday I found out I was pregnant!! This is the reason I wanted to lose the weight and get healthy and yes it is a great blessing I could not be happier. But I am scared to death! I am losing about 2 to 3lbs every week and they want that to slow down a bit. So they want me to eat more......WHAT eat more I cant get down the crap I need to eat NOW. Drs. want me to drink at least 3 Protein shakes and 3 to 4 meals a day.....it is impossible. So if anyone has any ideas or have gone through this please HELP! I am stopping the personel training and the gym will just take walks around the block. I think this might be a lot worse then the 30 day post op diet:001_tt2:

Trying to exercise- odd side effect??
ichefmastersgirl replied to JillianMarie's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
Good luck with drinking while exercising. I have no problems drinking fluids at all....until I start to exercise....I dont think I even get down 4oz. And before I was sleeved and exercised I would down a 32oz bottle of Water at the gym...that is the only thing I miss. I exercise pretty intense and I think I am breathing so hard that when I drink I am also taking in air into my stomach it is very uncomfortable. -
30 pounds in 2.5 months?
ichefmastersgirl replied to erh92's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
So it will be 2 months for me on the 8th of June and I have lost 28lbs I was at the same weight as you when I had my surgery plus I had lost 84lbs already from the lap-band. So I don't believe I am losing super fast but a very steady pace for me. So far I have had no stalls I have lost at least 1 pound every week. So yes you can do this no problem just stick to what the doctor says and drink your protein and water 2 most important things in your life now...and stay active. -

Ok so I have fitness pal, The daily plate(livingstrong), and Lose it. I am an Iphone junkie so I thought I would try this Fat Secret you all mentioned went on the computer and registered it was ok.....but then downloaded the Iphone App and now I am in LOVE. It has a barcode reader for the Iphone so the food I am eating all I do is scan the barcode with my phone and there it is. Never found one easier. Going around scanning everything in my house...hahahah I find this way more accurate then any of the other sites because it matches every product. What a wonderful App. -
Caution for using PPI's
ichefmastersgirl replied to Itstime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I know my acid is real bad. I take 1 prilosec in the am no eating or drinking for 20 min then I am suppose to take Gaviscon at 12 noon no matter if I have acid or not then another prilosec about 9pm. Dr.Aceves said a big acid problem ( I know most of us won't like this) is chocolate! All my protein shakes are chocolate and sometimes I was sucking on some sugarfree chocolates. He told me to stop all products with cocoa. I have been a good girl and have followed doctors orders and have had no episodes at all. -

ichefmastersgirl replied to Itstime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I do take it and it helps but since I switched from Nexium to Prilosec I have not had as much of a acid problem or maybe it was because I was eating the rolaids like candy and the Dr was right and I was just causing myself to make more acid. But I have been acid free for about 4 days now. -

ichefmastersgirl replied to Itstime's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I am having a big problem with acid I now take Prilosec twice a day plus I was taking some rolaids in the middle of the day. So I let Dr. Aceves know how bad it was and this is the reply Gaby sent me..... The doctor is out of town, but I called him he says to please do not take any Rolaids do not take Calcium carbonate products (TUMS, Rolaids, those type products. They will help immediately but in a few hours they will create more acid than you had to start with. He wants you to try Gaviscon. -
