Yes, I was banded on the 22nd and today was tough. I am very hungry. I realize that things need to heal, and I sure hope that the rest of this experience isn't just willpower. I am allowed mushies on 2/2. NOt too far, I've made it this far, I can do it and so can you. I would be very careful, with your solids and I have found that a sf popscicle can get me through a rough spell. We can do this!

What soup options do I have
lablover replied to eyeinthesky's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I also added skim milk tothe cream of chicken soup, i found some lactose free milk. It seemed to help a bit. Also, My new fave is cream of potato ( strained). Yum, i got burned out of cream of chicken as I had it alot during my pre op diet. -
I was banded on the 22nd and really need to increase my protein. I tried New Whey mixed in crystal light and it made me nauseous. How are you getting your protein in? I am willing to give anything a try. What proteins do you like that don't make you nauseous?

I really appreciate your suggestions and more are welome. I tried Muscle Milk light 20g of protein and tolerated it much better than the New Whey. I will definitely be getting some powder soon. What do you like?

thanks for your suggestion, I will try anything.

Yes, I was banded a week ago and an 8 on the pain scale was there for me too. Sadly, I couldn't take my pain meds when I got home. They made me wretch and that was too much. I switched to liquid tylenol and that helped a bit. I was a bit delusional in thinking that this was going to be a picnic. It gets better, hang in there.

Is anyone else having or had trouble the first week with protien?
lablover replied to Minnah's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 22nd and was told by the nutritionist not to worry about the protein for the first week, she said that it makes alot of people nauseaous. I did email her to find out if I should start taking my vitamins and calcium, the thought makes me a bit gaggy. Maybe you should give your dr. or nutritionist a call re the protein. -
banded 1/21/09 and not feeling so hott!!
lablover replied to BABYGRACE1213's topic in POST-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was banded on the 22nd and I am not feeling so hot either, I had dry heaves on Friday 23 night, so I haven't had any narcotics, just tylenol, then yesterday, I started getting a cold... Sneezing is no fun. Re: food, what seemed to help me was warm sugar free apple :unsure:cider. I could feel it going down, but it seemed to help. Haven't tried the ice pops yet, maybe today. I think we'll be better in a few days. -
Has anyone had any kidney issues on the high protein diet? I had alot of nausea in the beginning and the nutritionist said it wa likely ketones and needed to be flushed, now I have a swollen ankle out of the blue. No trauma, just bizarre. My surgery is next week and I have so much to do, I guess I need to try and see my primary care Physician sometime. Any one else have these issues?

January 21st banders!
lablover replied to crprice04's topic in PRE-Operation Weight Loss Surgery Q&A
I was nauseas and spoke with my nutritionist who said to try more water to help flush the ketones and other toxins and it seems to have worked. The nausea kept me from being hungry, now ....I am hungry. Oh well, be careful what you wish for. -
Ok, I started my preop diet yesterday and have been nauseous and light headed. Is it the protein laden drinks? The nutritionist has us drink slim fast type drink 30 minutes before breakfast. Breakfast is mushies ( oatmeal, milk, yogurt) Another slim fast prior to lunch and dinner of soup and applesauce and yogurt. Isopure at night. Help? Is it the protein? This is yuck!

Jodi, thanks so much for the reply. you're stats are great. I will persevere.
