Can ANYONE tell me why it takes the stomach so long to heal? Why you HAVE to be on liquids for the first couple of weeks (other than to lose weight). I would like a REALLY DETAILED explanation and I can't find one. HELP PLEASE??!!? :hungry:
-
Thanks Janet. I really can't wait to get together again...you and your daughter were so much fun down in Mexico. Julie and I are trying to get in contact with Rene to arrange the next fill date. We're shooting to arrive in Tijuana June 1st. Having the fill that Saturday. That should give us a couple good days to EAT and SHOP! I can't wait to have the chicken alfredo again...that was the best I've ever had and I'm Italian! By the way, congrats on your loss so far!! TTYS All~You know, I was just thinking, isn't it fascinating how many doctor opinions there are out there? You ask and you shall receive. I enjoy reading all the various feedback. I don't know what I'd do without all of you to communicate with. I really appreciate this website. Thanks to whomever had the brains to create this place to ask, vent, post, learn, etc. People....keep the replies coming!! I'm learning a lot through your responses. I'm sure a lot of others are, as well. TY

Thanks for the great information. I really do appreciate it!!

Thanks for the tip! I may try this when the food police aren't looking, LOL!! Goodnight all.

I don't believe anyone stated that. I don't need a devil's advocate. Opinions and judments I can do without, also. I've read enough of that on this site to last a while. I posed a question. It had nothing to do with whether or not you all vote that I stay on liquids or bust a band. Please people, give it a rest. I have a Mother already........blessed to say. Thank you for the few who provided positive support and stories that relate to what I'm going through. I know I'm really grouchy right now but I haven't eaten in 7-8 hours and I'm taking in approximately 400-600 calories right now. Way under what I'm used to. I've posted other threads asking for suggestions and didn't get very far.....only a couple posts in a week's time. I have been eating very healthy and I've had more energy than I did before the surgery, despite the caloric restriction. I'm not here to push the limit. I asked a question...I was honest that I've messed up...and I was hoping, at the very least, to learn a little more about the procedure itself and what our bodies go through. I'm not creating a 'let's try and bust our band' club. It's a plus to get a few personal responses that relate to my experience. However, nagging and tuff love don't work for me. Please switch threads if you're going to make this a negative experience.

Thanks....I do appreciate the responses. However, I think that if a knowledgable person (such as a medical provider) could explain to me what exactly is happening down there, it would help. I am the type of person that needs to know the why before I can learn how to do.

:focus: Yes......not to sound like a bitch....but if you're not here to relate to my question and you're just going to make me feel bad, then I really would prefer you'd find another thread. I posed this question because I've been searching for a week for a better explanation and I can't find one. I REALLY appreciate your responses StrawartS. I can totally relate and I appreciate your forthright response. I haven't been able to find anyone who would go there. My nutritionist hasn't, my doctor hasn't. The only response I get is, "don't do it". I want to know WHY???
-
Yes, I did have the pleasure of reading your experience in San Antonio! I should add....GREAT ENTERTAINMENT reading that thread. I really haven't been pigging out here people!! I tried one ritz cracker, 1 french fry, 1 peice of chicken while eating some REALLY GOOD chicken Soup. I have stayed on the fluids for the most part. However, I have 3 boys and husband who love to eat junk food right in front of me all the time and it's truly torture. Whenever I'm fixing my 4-year old Snacks, well, I can't explain in words how difficult it is for me to drink my apple juice and chicken broth. I have tried choking down some Protein drinks. Yuk! I thought, if I posed this questions, hopefully someone would provide me with a valid and educated response that would scare me into being good. I've already considered the swelling, stiches, surgery, etc. I need to be frightened into compliance, get it??
-
Thanks to the both of you! I totally agree. I've been eating ritz crackers, pudding, jello, devel's ham, a french fry, a peice of chicken. I couldn't help it! But all of it felt fine before, during and after. I'm trying to be good.........but I can't be all the time! If so, why would I need the band, right??

GREAT NEWS EVERYONE: I woke up this morning and I was sleeping on my TUMMY!!! WHOOOOOOOOOO HOooooooooooooooooooo I loooove sleeping on my tummy!! That's gotta be a good sign!!! :clap2: I was able to sleep on my stomach for the first time last night, also. Woo Hoooooooo!! I'm really feeling a lot better with each passing day. It's like I can tell a difference every morning when I get moving around. It's great. And I'm getting more and more use to being restricted from food. The first couple of days were like tragedy struck! I was thinking..."what the hell was i thinking??!!?" I'm already planning my first fill date. I'm shooting for some time near June 1st. I was filled down in Mexico so I'm planning to leave a few days early for a bit of a mini-vacation and I want to enjoy some of that awesome Mexican food before the fill!! I know that so contradicts what I said above. Anyways, the only thing that's really bothering me is my bra when I sit at work or in the car. It rests right on my upper stomach whenever I'm in that position and I feel like THAT is giving me the golfball effect. Is that weird?

Taking Suggestions for NEW LBT Features!
ItsDani2u replied to Alex Brecher's topic in Website Assistance & Suggestions
I agree with above....don't get me wrong...this is a great website. However, it is very difficult to get used to. I've been trying to figure out what DH stands for for 5 days now! Having instructions and a dictionary or accronyms list on the home page would be awesome for us new folks. Thanks for asking! -
Just contact me if you have any other questions. I'm happy to help!

Great news for me!! Thanks everyone.

It just occured to me that I never asked if I could wakeboard after I got the lapband. I love wakeboarding and would like to know if anyone has any info on this or related concerns?
-
Ok....all that comes to mind when I think of the mushies stage is Soup and applesauce. Can I get some help brain storming what would be good during this stage? :help:
-
Sorry...I don't know. I'm still learning myself. I'm not exactly supposed to be in this stage yet!

I'm 35 and just got my banded on 4-20-06. How are you doing since you got the band? Were you banded in the US? I was kind of curious what food plan they have you on and how you're coping?? I cannot stop thinking about what I CAN'T have. I am hungry all the time and I really miss greasy, fattening, bad-for-you-but-oh-so-good foods!! I am sooooooo tired of the liquid phase already. I've had really bad mid-back pain, also. I'm large chested and THAT doesn't help! Just wanted to know if you're experiencing the same things?
-
Pam - when you blended the hamburger..did you include cheese, bun, mustard, ketchup?? I'm so curious! I'm totally ready to try it.
-
Okay.....so cheese is considered a mushy food? That's great if it is! Ahhhhh.......and I LOVE cream of wheat. I hadn't thought about that. Great suggestions. Thanks and keep them coming bandsters!!
-
Can anyone tell me whether you've actually regretted moving out of the clear stage TOO SOON? I had surgery on 4-20-06. I really really want to try pudding and yogurt and Protein shakes. I've read that others are doing it in their first week but I'm wanting some feedback before I try it. Any advice fellow band members? You can buy sugar free fruit preserves. I get black cherry or strawberry. The preserves go with a lot of ideas..including cottage cheese!

Thanks TellyMelly.......that helped! I stayed good for the rest of the night.

Clear Vs. 'Other' Liquids in the 1st Week
ItsDani2u replied to ItsDani2u's topic in LAP-BAND Surgery Forums
Thanks for the feedback. I really appreciate it. I tried cool whip last night and tonight. Everything seems ok. It was sooooo good after drinking Isopure and chicken broth all day! I'm very new to this site. Can anyone tell me where the directions are to learn about abbreviations, why sticky notes are all different colors and how to find my string of messages (easily) without searching all over the place??!!? I can't seem to locate any of this information. Thanks again! -
I finally bought the Isopure today. It's nasty! But I had a bad headache and felt like my body needed something other than chicken broth and apple juice. It helped a little. I think I've made the decision to just move on to mushies and see how I feel. I can't take another day of liquid only diet!!!

Well...the border patrol guy made a comment when everyone in the suburban said no, they had no meds. He said something to the affect of "you mean you're all medical patients and no one in this vehicle has medication?". That's when I spoke up and pulled out what little I had and showed him. He took a quick look and that was it. I was sooooo scared because I knew some of the passesgers had brought A LOT back with them. I would definately ask what you should and shouldn't do/say. No one bothered to tell me and I was wishing I would have asked!
