  1. Happy 40th Birthday vja30!

  2. Wow, how ironic is that, I was banded Nov 08 and my starting weight was 200lbs, 5'0 tall. My current weight is now 136lbs. I work-out 5 days week, run every other day 2.5 miles and lift weights. I'm taking in about 1100 - 1200 calories per day but after working out it's only about 700-800 calories that I'm actually consuming and I'm extremely full by the end of the day. I even keep a food diary on my Iphone to track exactly what I'm eating to make sure I'm not starving myself. Go by how you feel, are you tired, losing hair etc.. then you will know if your body is lacking certain nutrients from foods.
  3. Wow, I just read your question and I'm 5"0 and I went from 202 pre surgery and 198 my surgery date which was Nov 2008. Now my current weight is 140 lbs and I went from a size 16 - 8. I guess it all depends on where you carried your weight. Since my weight was around my hips and butt and nothing in the middle. I have nothing else left. I get nice compliments about my waistline which I love. My doctor says I could stop losing weight now or continue to lose about 10 more pounds and still be considered overweight. I too would like awful! if I was to be at a healthy BMI of 120lbs. I just have it in my mind that I need to lose more weight even though I look great, and shopping now is amazing!!. Keep up the good work! and running by the way helps tones the body. Good Luck!
  4. Yeah!!! I am happy to say that I am coming up on my 1 year anniversary Nov 11th and I have lost 58 lbs!!! I went from a size 16 to an 8. 198lbs-140lbs Although, the process was slow I would not have ever imagine that it was so possible to lose this amount of weight after struggling for many years just to lose 20 lbs. My life has changed so much since losing the weight such as self confidence, and truly being more physically active. I'm so happy that I made this decision.

  5. That's great! when this first happened to me I had no clue and started to panic! Thanks to this website I found others had experience the same symptons and I understood what was going on with your band being to tight. Now, I only get fills about every 8-10 weeks usually about 1- 1.5 ccs at a time since I can not take too much fluid. I'm glad your feeling alot better. I'm down from a size 16-9 and 44lbs down and 25lbs to go since being banded in Nov. Good Luck!
  6. Hi, this has happened to me twice. Yes you are too tight!. see your doctor immeidately. Just a little unfill not to much, and the pain and your symptons will go away.
  7. Hi, after having my surgery in November I discovered chyrstal light (rasb-lemonade) which I was consuming about 64 ounces a day which was supposed to be ok to drink (PER MY DOCTOR). Now for the last couple of days I have notice a burning feeling in my side after cosuming this drink. I decided today to drink plain water and to my surprise I'm not in pain. Have you experience that before with drinking this flavor of chyrstal light (rasb -lemonade flavor or plan lemonade)

Congrats to you! I was bandand by Dr. G last Nov and I'm doing very well. I lost a total 0f 30 lbs my weight was 202 and now 173 he is a great doctor. The first couple of days I lived off of fat free fruit pops, and applesauce and chicken broth. Take it easy you do not want to force anything down at all for the first 6 weeks.

    Aggressive Fill

OMG!, that experience was awful! like yourself I was already 3 lbs down from the day before from being so sick. The only reason I went to work that awful Tuesday Morning becuase I had to finish a project by Thursday. It's amazing once the fluid is removed the symptons went away. Wednesday was my first day back to exercising and I was still not back to 100% until yesterday (Thursday) and I was very hungrey. Well, are you still able to continue your daily routine without being sick? if so maybe wait first before having the extra fluid removed. Well, I do understand your worries, I too will see if I my weightloss will continue or be stalled until March when I will have another fill done.

    Aggressive Fill

Well, I just read your message and just this past Monday, I had my second fill at Prestonwood and I guess I need to get familar with how much I'm receiving vs how much I have still left. Bascially, I was still losing weight since my first fill was in Jan 7th and I was banded in Nov. I still had 3cc's left and giving an extra 2ccs more pushed me to 5cc's total and that was the wrong thing I could have done. I left the clinic Monday afternoon fine able to keep my Water done. Yesterday morning, I woke up with a horrible taste in my mouth not able to swallow water and feeling like something was stuck in my throat and could not breath. By 8 a.m. I could not even swallow my own slivia and by 9 a.m. I'm at my desk at work barfing at my desk. This was first time since having my surgery that I ever threw up. Really, if you have doubts about something being to tight take care of it immediatly. When I reached my doc's office by noon I was in tears and in pain and 2cc's of solution was taking out and within minutes all the symptons had dissappeared and I returned back to work.

I totally agree with you regarding you know what to eat and protein and little carbs etc..I'm the exercise queen I've had a treadmill elipical machines expensive ones that I have cost me about $2,000. My weight problems started around the ages of 11 and 12 due to my mother working alot of long hours and I lived off of top ramen, chicken pot pies which I totally do not eat anymore. My weekends with my father was no better after going to the movies we dined on pizza, chinese food and of course his favorite Wendy's. I went through high school starving myself and doing liquid shakes. I felt so much better and I was lot thinner but I develope keystones in my urine and I would only eat the same thing everyday at the same time CRAZY I know. After high school came the diet pills up until my early thirties. I just had giving up I was depressed and felt unattractive and to be honest my doctor says no way you would ever get approved for this surgery since I had no high blood pressure, diebities and for the most part I was healthy but obeses since I'm only 5"0. After submitting my medical records from every clinic from my home town of Oregon and also Las Vegas, NV the doctor could not believe that I had went to every doctor in town regarding my struggles with weight. I said let's submit the request to have surgery since you never know what could happen. I wrote a letter stating that I can not have children being as heavy and my weight problem is getting worse. This surgery is my last chance live a normal life without shopping at plus size stores and having to cover up all the time since I'm hiding certain parts of my body that are bigger then others. After 6 weeks I was approved by PHCS. I feel so much better now that I lost 15lbs that I'm finally coming out of the closest (meaning not hiding) and now starting to date again. Just like oprah I have been there and I don't even have my on private chef or trainer. So don't think about it and say now I'm starting a new chapter of my life in 2009.

  14. Banded 11/13/08 Dr. Victor Gonzales Well, I just wanted to say that after getting banded 4 weeks ago I'm 15lbs down and 53 lbs to go. I just can not believe it! I have gone on so many diets of course and have never had this kind of success. My co-workers have notice my weightloss so I'm very excited that I had this procedure done. I would encourage anyone that is thinking about having this surgery will be very pleased with the results. Just Do it!
  15. I'm interested in going back to working out at a gym after 3 weeks of getting banded. The reason is that when I get home around 6 p.m. it's to dark to walk outside and I enjoy using the elipitical machines at the gym Is this a good idea? or can anyone suggest other exercises
