  1. Happy 51st Birthday dsinhouse!

  2. Thanks for visiting my blog. Its really interesting to learn you follow a high protein diet. I have so much conflicting information regarding what one can and cant eat. I am a total carnivore ( I live in the Scottish Borders where we have the best meat in the whole of the United Kingdom) Even the info my hospital gave me is conflicting! One section says dont eat chicken or beef for 3 months afer surgery, another section which covers 2wks + suggest eating minced meat. Guess its going to be trial and error! You look fab a great inspiration :0 )

    My jaws need to chew!

Almost a week now since my surgery and although I'm not hungry I SOOOOOOOOOO need to chew something! Beginning to understand how sometimes your head is hungry. I cooked breakfast for 12 people today and I could have killed for a sausage! But on a positive note I knew I couldnt 'just have a one' so I didnt. Eventually I triumphed over temptation. SomethingI woul dnever have done before my band. I feel thinner today so was naughty and got on the scales. I promised myself I was only go to get on the scales once a month but I couldn't resist. 6LBS down  Cant wait until I'm adding a big fat zero after that! Also managed to increase my water intake today. I filled a one litre bottle and carried it everywhere with me. Its suprising how quickly it goes when you are taking sips all of the time. Much easier than having to go to the fridge. Gonna try and get 2 litres down 2morro.
  4. HI Sandy I too over did it yesterdy! I have a small hotel in Scotland and this is our busiest week of the year, so I have to just get on with it! Cooked breakfast for 12 people this morning its much easier knowing I cant eat bacon and eggs

  5. I'm doing okay I guess. Felt great yesterday, but over did it and I'm paying for it today. I hope you are doing well. I guess you are if you are feeling well enough to make soup. lol

    Sandy

  6. Thanks for your kind words. I hope your feeling ok?

  7. HI Jennie (this green is not good to read) :) I doing great, still aware of my incisions when I bend over or lift anything. Difficult for me to sit still and take things easy.Trying to come up wiith new things to eat so I dont get bored, did the surgeon fill your band at all? they gave me a 3ml fill when they fitted it

  8. hey thanks girl!, im very excited... still in some pain though lol but everything is going pretty good, so how are you doing?

  9. Just noticed you were banded the day after me, how are you doing?

  10. Hi Sandy thanks for visiting my blog. Yep soup does make the house smell fab! I'm on a SOUP mission :)

  11. Hi SAndif thanks for visiting my blog. I was banded on the 3rd June and have to follow a liquid diet for two weeks. As long as the smoothe fluid can be drawn up through a straw then I think its ok (you dont actually use a straw). A big learning curve for me, so far so good!

    I am The Soup Queen

After three days of canned soup I decided I'd had enough and decided to make my own today. Lurking at the back of the freezer I found a bag of home grown Broccoli which my friend had given me (god only knows how long ago) but I have never been one for wasting food! I sauteed some chopped onion and de stringed celery in a little butter then when it was all soft added a some chicken stock and the broccoli. Simmerred it for about 10mins then made a roux from a little flour butter and milk. I then added the roux to the soup and blitzed it with a blender until it was souper (did you get that joke) smoothe. I then added a little bit cheese and stired until it melted added salt and pepper. YUMMY! I learnt a valuable lesson today:- its difficult to make a small batch of soup so if any of you guys want any give me a shout!
  13. Hi Ronda congrats on your surgery date! I really can't believe how easy the whole process has been, much much easier and painless than I originally thought. Just waiting now for the lbs to start moving. I am writing a blog on here, trying to be as honest as open as possible. Like you I too am not sure how to utilise this site, but one thing I have learnt EVERYONE is different! Im going ot post some photos soon once I remove the dressing from my port wound (be warned they will not be pretty) ! :)

    Any June Bandsters???

Hello chaps hope everyone who has had surgery so far this month is doing wlel. I had my band fitted on Thursday 3rd June and cant believe how easy the process has been. Ive had very little gas (oh you wont believe it just as I typed that my tummy made the most loudest rumble) Only used pain killers the first day, scars have scabbed over and I am sleeping quite well. Now managing to sleep on my side for a little while, and I only feel as if I have done 100 sit ups instead of 1000! Stocked up on soups and yoghurts, bought myself a decent blender so if I come across any soups or yoghurts with bits Im just blitzing them until they are super smoothe. Finding it difficult to take in 1000 cals per day so am bulking up on Complan which has around 250 cals a serving. Taking and A-Z multi vitamin daily. Going to post some pictures once I remove the dressing from my port wound. managing to do most chores making beds, cooking etc. Not to good with the hoover yet but improving every day. Went out in the car yesterday no probs with seat belt just a bit of a twinge getting in and out. Can now get up out of chair without any pain at all. Great start for me feeling really positive and upbeat. So hard to keep off the scales but I have promised myself a once a week weigh in
