HELLO, I AM HAVING MY LAP DONE AUG27TH on liquid optifast for 3 weeks on my 4th day and now sign of weight loss yet and i am not cheating.. any advice !! Cannot wait to have it done so i can get the old me back !!!!just worried i wont loss enogh pre op for the surgery !!!

hello, i am new here, i have 175 lbs to lose and insurance turned me down the first time not enough info from doctor on 6 month program now doing it again, diff doctor.. 1000 cal a day diet for 6 months i am having a hard time getting going i have started and want to chew food, not sure if it is because of the u can't have it u want it attitude or not, go to support meeting next wed.. does anybody have any advice. to help me out.. I really want to do this and hubby does not want me tohave surgery but not saying to much right now about it.. but I have other support people and haviong a hard time getting of sodas this is my caffine in the morning down to 2 a day, have been on diet since last wed.. i appreciate any suggestions... :thumbdown: thank you

thank you, I need 2 knee replacements decided to do this first and thensee how the knees go. I will remember what you said no nutrients don't consume .congrads. on your weight loss, hope i do as well..hopefully this site and lap support at docotrs will help a lot I am sure... I also have a hard time getting around have to use scotter at stores, cannot walk a distance, or stand very long.. doctor says for me to loose 30 lbs before using step machine at the Ymca because of my blood pressure... so I use a floor pedal bike at home for starters, can't wait for it to warm up so I can use my pool.. should be April... Hopefully hubby will support after surgery, but he is not going to stop me, I take care of my motherinlaw who lives with us she is 83 and in a wheelchair on some days and a walker the other, also is on dialysis 2 times a week so I have o get better to take care of her better and hubby has a pacemaker defib. so I am needed by both of them.. have to do this for many reasons health being the first and looking and feeling better after that... so thank you for your support and advice !!!!

jOANN, Yes, your are right abaout what he fears because I have recently starting taking care of my self again, teeth, eyes, etc. and no there is not any body else i just decided to take care for me and to be around a lot longer by caring about myself instead of hiding.. I have told h that I am not going anywhere and I don't want anybody else..I just have to show him over time he will see that all is okk, it is just that he has a problem, because of all the meds. he is on for his heart. there basicly is no sex life now because of this so that not does not help his fears all I can do is just keep telling him and showing him... I want to be healthy again and feel good, to clean my house without getting out of breath would be great and to play with my granddaughter .I would like to be around to see herr get married.. I am just 51 so it is over time to take care.. besides all this, have you aor anyone else been on optifast? doc. told me this is what i will be on for pre op. when I get approved..does it taste okk?? I really can't wait to get this done.My family keeps asking me why at holiday time, and my simple reply is because I am ready ,don't care when it is just do it... I will survive will out all the sweets lol !!! hope to talk to you again and thank u for all the input, I really helps to have someone to talk to as I cannot say a lot of thing at home, so thank you all again !!! I cant hardly wait to start my new life , with the lap band. don't like all this waiting. have a good thanksgiving everyone.. Indio, Yes, Tina is there and she seems sweet, I am glad she will make me tow the line, my husband is only 20 lbs over, he has a dfib pacemaker in, a virus attacked his heart and gave him a 20 percent ejection fraction. and he is still working doc. says he is adapting very well.. now shortness of breat which is great. I believe his main problem is fear , of what i will look like after and getting attractive again.. he asked me if I am doing this for him, and I told him no it was about me, guess I should have lied.. but I will do what ever I have to and thank you for talking to me about this.. have a great thanksgiving.. talk to u again later the incouragement is great

Hello, i am in the process of lap band have been to therapist and doctor now to diet specialist, than insurance company for approval, i amkeeping mu fingers crossed.. Does the optifast diet before surgery taste good.. Sure hope so.. If not any ideas on how to make it taste better..

INDIO, HELLO AND THANK YOU FOR ALL THE ADVICE, i WILL DO THIS FOR MY HEALTH AND I WILL LOSE THE 160 LBS I NEED TO LOSE MY HEART IS ALSO GOOD BUT THE HEART DOCTOR TOLD ME I NEED TO MAKE A WHOLE LIFESTYLE CHANGE. So I am going to do this, I'm sorry about your brother !! I really am looking forward to doing this to be able to play with my graddaughter and not be out of breath and walk with her is reward to me in itself..I will prove my h wrong i can and i will ose all this weight, I believe he wants me to lose but, he is also afraid that someone else will look at me as he has told me when i lose this weight I might leave, I have been hiding under all this weight far to long, it is time for the me inside to come out..he has to get over it.. because I WILL complete my plans for my health my health first.. I have my mother inlaw living with us and I have to take care of her as she is in a wheelchair, and this weight makes it difficult at times and h eventually will be more than likely getting a heart transplant, some where down the road, he just got checked for this at he heart hospital here and theysay he is holding his own right now, that the doctor will let us know when we have to go back, so I can't take care of anybody else the right way till I take care of my self first and this is my first big step... Thank you so much for all your response this is helping me a great deal.. because he is not going to give it to me at this time, maybe when he sees me doing it and see me working hard he will change his mind.. How long did it take you to lose all the weight that you have that is fantastic !!!!!

I am going to do this all the way as the doctor tells me to as I want to loose all this weight, for my health and I will work hard at it..You have done a beautiful job and I am sure it was very hard, keep it up.. I hope I have the same sucess as you have had.. i will give it my all and thank you so much for the help with the questions. I am 51 and I want to be able to do things with my grandchildren that I can't do now, It is hard to walk a distance because I also need double knee replacements and I am thinking this weight off me will help a whole lot and maybe I can put off the surgery for years down the road....

thats great, hope i can do that, i am in plant city dr. aguila will be doing the surgery if i get approved.. did the liquid diet taste ok he said i would be on optifast. i am scared, excited cant name it all and my husband says i ma taking the easy way out, but i dont believe it willbe easy. i just have to show him i can do it.. hope to talk to you again :thumbup:

hello, i am new here have not had lap band yet in the process of getting everything ready for ins. one more appt. on dec. 3rd then they tell me they can send to ins. for approval.. how much weight do you lose on pre surgery liquid diet and about how much can i lose in 7 months after surgery.. oh i am from florida
