Hi Danielle,
Thanks for the message, I've been out of town, so I didn't get your message until today. Yes, the liquids have been treating me well, though I have moved myself to mushies already. I'm going to the doctor on Wednesday, and can't wait -- I haven't weighed myself yet, but I know that i've lost some weight already. How are you doing? I went back to work last Monday, and I'm actually feeling great! A little tired sometimes, but good nonetheless. I hope that you are feeling good too!

Hello December Bandsters! I'm officially banded as of December 4. I think that I have a pretty high tolerance for pain. I'm feeling fine. Not that tired, I haven't yet napped once. I requested no pain killers and haven't taken anything thus far. The most painful part is coughing, laughing and sneezing. Other than that, I feel pretty good. I'm on a clear liquid diet with a 48oz requirement per day, and I'm really not feeling all that hungry. The liquids are keeping me satisfied. My only problem at this point is that I can't drive, otherwise I would probably be at work today. I must add a post-script that I did have a laproscopic kidney donation surgery 2 1/2 years ago, and so I kind of knew what to expect. Those who suggested a pillow for the car ride home were dead on -- it helps a lot. As for the gas pains, I recommend having a friend/family rub or massage your back as a lot of the gas gets stuck under your shoulders. Moving your arms will help as well. I hope this helps! Gretchen

Hi Everyone, I was banded on December 4, and it couldn't have gone more smoothly. I have some experience with laproscopic surgery as I donated a kidney to my father laproscopically a couple of years ago. My doctor insists that I stayed over in the hospital (my surgery was at 4:30). I had no pain, did not ask nor take any pain medication, the worst was a sore throat. By Friday night, I was sleeping on my side and my stomach -- I had no idea how well this surgery was going to go! I'm on a clear liquid diet for 2 weeks, and thus far i'm not hungry. I am asked to drink at least 48 ounces of liquids throughout the day, a sip at least every 20 minutes, and asked to walk around at least once an hour to release the gas. I did have some tighness in my chest from the gas. A couple of tricks that I learned from my last surgery is to get a back massage from a friend/family member etc. This will release some of the gasses, and help pass them easier. Also, just rubbing the incisions, lightly, helps to circulate the blood and have them heal more quickly. I'll definitely be on line more often now, and look forward to any advice and support that we can give each other! Gretchen

Hi Everyone, I would like to join as well. I was banded on 12/4, and so i'm working on day 4 of 2 weeks of Clear liquids. (I can't wait for milk and yogurt!) Since the diet is pretty strict, i'm going to go for a goal of 16 lbs. Good luck to everyone else! Gretchen

Good Morning Everyone, I was told about this site by a patient that I met at my doctor's office that just had lap-band 2 weeks ago. My scheduled date for surgery is December 4. Ok, my name is Gretchen, I'm 30 and live in a suburb of Washington DC. I'm on here to start my weight loss journey with others that have experienced lap-band; learn from each of you; and hopefully share my experience post-op. I really can't wait to start this process! What is your Age/Date/Weight/Location?

Good Morning, I'm Gretchen, 30 years old, 260ish, my goal weight would be around 160 (I can't ever remember weighing 160, so it will be quite a change!). I'm getting banded at Washington Hospital Center in Washington DC by Dr. Frank Finelli. Oh, yeah, I'm getting banded on December 4! -
Hi Debbie, Thanks for the welcome. I was not given a pre-op diet at all, but reading the forums, I'm thinking that I should put myself on a pre-op diet. I'm going to do some research and figure something out! So, what step of the process are you in right now?

I wasn't even given a pre-op diet, I met with the surgeon for the last time on Friday, and asked about that, he said nothing. Now reading all these posts, I may think about putting myself on a regimented pre-op diet. Any suggestions would be quite helpful!

Hello December Bandsters, I'm new to the site, but my surgery is scheduled for December 4. I met with the surgeon on Friday and he didn't give me any pre-op diet to follow, but the more I'm reading, it looks like everyone else has some type of pre-op diet. Would anyone mind sharing theirs with me? I'm going to make a call the surgeon on Monday, but just to get a jump start, that would be great. So, a little about me, I'm ready for this. I had surgery 2 1/2 years ago, laproscopic as well, where I donated my dad a kidney, so I do understand how my body is going to handle things, at least at first. I'm super excited, and have been sharing the news with everyone close to me. I know that some people have decided to keep the surgery private, but I would rather not have the questions on the back-end. Like I said, i'm super excited, and can't wait to be a member of the December bandsters! Gretchen
